How will that be regulated?

I asked the ABC clerk at the store off Strickland and they said they're getting some today...she also noted it's very popular so I assume that it's selling well. Congrats!

We thought our first pallet of 50 cases would last 3-4 weeks. It lasted just over 2 weeks.

We thought our second pallet would last a bit longer since initial orders would have been filled. It lasted only 5 days.

We are scrambling to get the third pallet out ASAP. Ordered our second still already and should have it by mid-July to help meet demand.

I don't normally like white rum, but I liked this enough to buy a second bottle. Hopefully you're making arrangements to age some of your rum for future variations.

The white rum, not long. Just some oak chip treatment and basic oxidation for a week or two to smooth it out and get it on the shelf. We have to get something into the stores ASAP or we will be sunk before we've even started.

The spiced/aged rum to come later will mature as long as we feasibly can. We plan on proper barrel aging at least 500 gallons for 1-2 years - this will be a limited release.

ABC Stores Carrying Raleigh Rum - https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=z7UjENy6XboM.km3KMCqwgdXw&usp=sharing

This is a general listing/mapping. I recommend calling ahead to be sure they have stock. Wake County ABC Board orders from the warehouse, then distributes as they see fit. We don't actually control which stores carry it right now. If your local ABC store doesn't have it, let them know you want it!

I'd make sure to wrap it and box it. If you just wrap it up, they could go through your bag and not put it back in as securely as you had it. I had a buddy put a ridiculous bottle of Olive Oil from Croatia in his bag...wrapped real tight, then opened his bag when we landed and had everything soaked in Olive Oil. They took it out, checked it, and just tossed it back in without re-wrapping. He trashed everything in his bag.

Picked up a bottle from the ABC off of Falls of Neuse. They had about 6 left, looked like they had stocked close to 15 or so. Great surprise gift for my die-hard NCSU father in law.

No but some former NCSU students in the company is enough. He is kind of insane about State stuff, regardless of the strength of the connection.

They work, there are varying levels of quality among them though, expect some leaks. The one in the image is actually for a kickstarter backer that never claimed it. They are fairly expensive for such a tiny barrel.

^ Define "fairly expensive" please. There's a restaurant down here in Charleston that has some, but I'd rather have one from Raleigh...depending on price of course.

I"ll be dropping by this saturday with the g/f. We've been so busy with moving and stuff the last few weeks, but I'll be damned if i miss out on a tour this weekend!

Also yes, can we do a group buy on more barrels or announce another kick starter just for the barrels?

^They are from The Barrel Mill, but I don't think they actually make them - it seemed to come from a 3rd party. We simply added our logo after receiving. We will look into carrying them for purchase once we can afford to buy them in bulk

They come out to about $75 shipped and are smaller than it may appear. We only have the one and it is supposedly claimed, just awaiting pickup for a year now.

We are about to start promoting to bars and push for drink specials since we have a more consistent inventory now. We didn't want to market to bars earlier since we had been selling out on the retail side fairly quickly. We do need help though! Even if you are going into a bar for a beer, ask if they carry Raleigh Rum - just to get the awareness out there

We sold about 20 bottles during tour hours this weekend. I was hoping for more, but the weather could be to blame. Still really glad that we can finally sell directly to customers, even in a limited fashion.

Looking to grow the tours, make it more of an event. It's already a pretty fun way to spend an hour on Saturdays IMO

mildew, did you ever try Pirate Choice Rum before they went defunct? I would bet if you could copy that recipe it would be a winner. I recall there being a mad run on the liquor once they announced they would stop making for a while.

Yeah, one of the owners died and shit dragged down in legal problems. There may have been some shady side dealings as well. Good rum, bad business, bad legal structure.

Quick updates for those interested:

Every Wake ABC store should have Spiced Rum by the end of this month.

We are doing a promo at Brickhouse this Friday, they are opening a NC Craft Spirits section of their bar - which we absolutely love. Also promoting at Falls of Neuse Carolina Ale House this Sunday for the Panthers vs Seahawks game. Plus, we will be at Garner and Cary Ale Houses the following Sundays in January. We are also doing a BIG Fat Tuesday event at the Cary Ale House on February 9th.

We are planning on pouring rum at the Beer & Bacon festival in Cary (April).

Tours still happening every Saturday at 2pm.

The company is basically self sufficient at this point. Still plenty of debt to pay down before we would ever take a check. The introduction of spiced rum should hopefully help a lot.
