Made it interesting in the 9th and Fincher made a diving catch to end it the bases loaded, but won 3-2. Big game - Williamson came up huge out of the pen in long relief.

Nobody mentioned losing a lead over Campbell to letting them tie it up at 2-2. Then going to the 12th inning when Campbell fell apart. Walked 2 runs, Trea Turner's 3-run triple, then walked 2 more to lose. 9-2 Pack.

Is everyone still backing Rodon? I haven't been too in tune to State baseball, but he's something like 2-5 right now. Isn't that really bad? Or does that have to do with the rest of the players on the team? Also, because I don't know too much about baseball, how much effect does a coach have on a team if he's not directly coaching during a game? Thanks

Rodon's stats aren't as bad as his record would make it look.

Against Maryland he had 0 ERs allowed and 8 runs total. Our defense is just bad.

Rodon pitches against the other teams #1 pitcher so the team scores less when he pitches. It would still be okay if he didn't have as many unearned runs as earned.

On ESPNU right now fyi. Had bases loaded and no out then hit into a 1-2-3 double play. Luckily they bailed us out with a 2 run error on the next play.

Turner checked his swing, ump called it strike 3, turner slammed bat down and it slipped, ump wasnt facing Turner when he did it, Ump hears crowd react to Turner "throwing" his bat down, ump throws Turner out of the game

The important thing is that home plate ump that threw Turner out literally didn't even SEE Turner do anything. Just ejected him based on crowd noise.

Right after that, same ump called Palmero out at home after he was clearly safe on the replay. Bang-bang play, but it was just insult to injury

The worst part about the play at the plate was that the tag was very high and normally the runner gets even more of the benefit of the doubt when that happens.

Also, Turner's check swing was very close and should have been checked by the first base ump.

Yep. I'd heard Palmeiro had the best glove for 1st, but needed to produce at the plate, which I'd say he's doing now. Take care of business at ECU and then it's 3 games vs Duke at the DBAP.
