1150 on motor, and on the show they mentioned spraying a 500 shot. [Edited on October 3, 2014 at 7:57 AM. Reason : big boy moves out]

See that's on the old motor and without that wheelie it would have been a 9.

10/6/2014 7:59:24 AM
What were you racing against BJ?
10/6/2014 8:34:34 AM
Not sure what it was (acura integra probably) but I looked under the hood, had a huge intercooler ,didn't see the turbo.... Track was closing and me and the tuner were hot lapping and data logging. I didn't line up with anyone in my class, either it was a super fast car, or something slow all day. Ran a 10 second GT-R, 10 second G8, 10 second stroked 392 r/t charger, and some honda turds. I was mainly working on my tune. The GT-R run was my favorite of the day, I braked stalled to 1500 and floored it, best burnout I've ever done .Picked up 3 tenths, 3 mph and 2-3 mpg by changing the tune. I would’ve thought it’d be faster, I guess there’s no getting away from the weight + the auto trans.
10/6/2014 8:56:44 PM
Ew I didn't know it was an automatic.
10/6/2014 9:22:15 PM
You do know stock they are high 13 second cars. (average is like a 13.7 on street tires)....
10/6/2014 9:43:55 PM
When you get into the 10s or 11s yeah...13s.... No....
10/6/2014 9:58:40 PM
Tell that to the guys I see with 600hp gt500s that can't get out the 12's. It don't matter if you got a shitty honda, if its stock vs stock, the auto will win every time.
10/6/2014 10:17:09 PM
it's usually more to do with the fact that the auto can hold up to the power while the manual cannot.
10/7/2014 5:19:53 AM
it's both, I'd say. Also, I'd implore everyone to take any 2wd vehicle with the ability to break traction to a drag strip, run a respectable time, then report back on the experience. It's not quite as 'easy' as it looks to balance traction and accelerationNow, get into a GTR or automatic 4x4 truck, and it is as simple as pushing pedals [Edited on October 7, 2014 at 6:50 AM. ^ Speaks the truth. A GTR with drag radials is a thing of beauty at the line. (I know first hand) I think everyone should take their car to the strip, run 4-5 passes and report back on what they've learned. There's a science to making a pass and getting a good time. I don't just roll through the water do a burnout and floor it on green. Lets set up a track meet!!!!!! I even plan out my burnout, I know exactly how long I need it to be, what rpm I need to see on the tach, and what gears I need to go through etc.
10/7/2014 7:31:57 AM
^ask Tchenku what the rear end of a GTR looks like
10/7/2014 8:35:29 AM
looks like $100,000+
10/7/2014 7:14:43 PM
I remember running 13.0 and being underwhelmed in a C5 w/about 430rwhp, but at least it was a manual. I am not a fan of a slush box, I almost don’t care about it’s benefits.
10/7/2014 7:15:05 PM
^First lets get rid of the it had xxxrwhp on xxx dyno. Dyno's are tuning tools, nothing more. I went and got a dyno tune after I did my cam swap, car made power on the dyno, ran like a turd at the track. Went and got a real street tune and did some data logging, car is finally coming around to where it should be. Now you are telling me, you ran a 13, in a 430 rwhp, 3200lb vette??? And I'm running 12.30s in a 4k+lbs, 4 door sedan with a "slush box", that only dyno'd 412rwhp and still has some kinks in the tune. Either you are terrible at shifting/launching, or somebody told some lies on the power that car was making.^^ lol I'm not even impressed when a guy comes with a GTR, sure its fast, but a trained monkey could go fast in that car. Automatic, 4 wheel drive, launch control, is there anything that car doesn't have [Edited on October 7, 2014 at 9:08 PM. Reason : .]
10/7/2014 9:07:32 PM
something up with the 400whp pointyour 4000 lb G8, my friend's 3400 lb 350z, and my 2800 lb 240sx, all with right at 400-420whp would be dead even at the 1/4 mile mark Dragtimes will confirm a bunch of 400hp 240sx's hitting similar traps (117ish mph) anywhere from low 11's and up
10/7/2014 10:00:16 PM
the magic of ls lol.It could be all down to the dyno calibration.
10/8/2014 5:54:15 AM
I agree with BJ on his comments - tchenku - interstate roll>?
10/8/2014 7:07:15 AM
You can't compare dyno numbers across dynos/days. I'm not sure whats up with it, I was implying that a true 430hp car at the weight should run circles around me. And would be a blast to take to the strip.^^You will regret not putting a LS if that galaxy. If you want a fast ford, put a LS in it. ^MPH is kind on the street, he should walk away from a roll. I was actually making sure I understood the puzzle.
10/8/2014 7:52:35 AM
BJ, let me clarify a couple of things;1: I’m not trying to compare my “drag racing” skills against you, nor said corvette. I can see how it would come across that way. Let me put it this way, said car ran “only” a 13.0, even if it would’ve done better with an auto, I do not care. Screw driving a slush box. It’s ironic to me that you talk smack about GTRs saying they take no skill, yet you’re driving a car with two pedals because “it’s faster".2: I don’t disagree with the things you say about car set up, dyno tuning, hp #s or whatever (at least what I’ve seen in this particular thread). However, we have different tastes. Yes, this corvette was fun in the quarter as it wouldn’t hook up through 3rd gear on crap tires in the winter... But when it comes down to it, I’d rather be at a road course or power slide, or skidpad or whatever than go to a drag strip.
10/8/2014 1:12:04 PM
10/8/2014 1:31:01 PM
LOL, I can see how that came across as dismissing drag racing skills as well. Again, not my intention. Perhaps I don’t think of it as highly as I would some other forms of motorsports, I do recognize that it takes skill. The logical fallacy I was trying to point out is that he was talking smack about GTRs not requiring skill to drag race. I don’t think many would disagree there, however he’s drag racing an automatic, which has fewer variables than would be the case with a manual. I enjoy the latter more, even if it’s slower. DSG or SMG or other automated manuals, that I could see having at some point, but torque converters make me sad.
10/8/2014 1:40:18 PM
and on the 8th day the lord made a lockup converter
10/8/2014 1:57:21 PM
^^ I'm drag racing my daily driver, family sedan. Torque converters are gods gift to drag racers. Gives me the ability to dump the clutch, without having a clutch
10/8/2014 2:55:56 PM
^that would have made mine look like a rocket! in the Lung, I launch at the bottom amber, and it doesn't get moving until just after green
10/8/2014 2:58:45 PM
The thing is ahmet , your Porsche is fast but it's so close to stock and so well sorted I can imagine it wouldn't be much fun at the strip.... But check out bellos car... You can't tell me this rocket ship hitting 190s in just a few seconds doesn't look like funhttp://youtu.be/yaBXppyH_gk
10/8/2014 7:52:42 PM
I also don't see any complex skills with drag racing. I can perhaps see a high learning curve in prepping the car (choice of tires, suspension, beefy axles, safety related items...etc), but non necessarily in doing a burnout and dropping the hammer on yellow. Hell, in my first ever drag race I managed 13.9@100mph out of stock E36 M3. That was faster than C&D test and I am certainly not even close to being a good drag racer. What skills are there besides reflexes and knowing at which RPM to launch? I assume if you know your car well enough that shouldn't take much time?I think it is fun, but still somewhat primitive and banal form of racing. You can be completely inept at controlling a RWD in snap oversteer, but be a helluva drag racer?
10/8/2014 8:09:15 PM
^^ Wtf did I just watch ^Runs 14's, implies drag racing requires little skills, implies road racing is superior. I think all the road race fans are forgetting that road course track days are really just follow the leader hot lapping nonsense. There is 0 racing at a road course track day with street cars, its just a bunch of guys going in circles, waiving each other by.
10/8/2014 8:40:39 PM
I... :/ I’m NOT saying more power in something crazier wouldn’t be fun, or exciting or whatever. I really liked said corvette at the drag strip for example. But I liked it better @VIR (actually, that particular car was garbage, but you know what I mean). As for track events being “follow the leader”, that’s pretty far from accurate for an advanced driver/run group, or actual time trials or even open passing track events... I’m not getting sucked into THAT debate lol. Imagine somebody talking about drag racing if all of their experience was in a GTR.
