Christ, Michael Vick might not make it past 6 games. It looks like he's trying to get hurt, running down field to block, holding the ball too long, etc. So good to see that he's evolved over his career.

Is Chip Kelly's offense gonna buck the trend of "college offenses don't work in the pros"?

I'm guessing not. He'll have a lot of early success, but by next season defensive coordinators will have figured out what to do, just like every offensive "innovation" from college.

But its not like the playcalling is that crazy. It's just extremely fast paced, and it tires out defenses. Is he gonna force defensive coordinators to get their defensive players better conditioned? If Vick and McCoy are healthy, I think defenses are gonna struggle a bit.

^^^you're using conventional wisdom about a completely unconventional system

while you may turn out to be right, Chip Kelly is by all accounts the absolute real deal who may be the one to revolutionize NFL offenses

I don't know that I'll ever be able to get over the fact that Jerry Richardson decided to retain Rivera over hiring Kelly, who would have been the perfect fit for Cam

I anticipate a lot of thuggery and fistfights and opposing defenses headhunting Vick and McCoy

There is no innovation here, you just run offense at a video game pace. This isn't a gimmick, defensive players cant give 110% every down, offensive players can take a play off when they know they aren't getting the ball, defenses can't. There is no answer to this.

I've been running this offense for years on my xbox. Shotgun 4 and 5 wide all game with speedy receivers and Mike Vick.

One half a game and the Redskins have shit themselves on offense. Lets not crown Chip as a fucking genius.

I'm not a DC, but expect to see more nickel, more hits on the QB, etc. From what I've seen from Kelly at Oregon it takes a specific kind of QB to make it work. I don't think Philly with Nick Foles is anywhere near as frightening.

Don't get me wrong, I drafted Vick in both my fantasy leagues, but I know he's not going to last the season. I also know that the Eagles aren't going to put up 600 yards of offense per week. They wouldn't be running this many plays anyway if Washington wasn't so inept offensively. Let's give it a few weeks before we anoint Chip Kelly as the second coming.

I just asked if Kelly's offense was gonna buck the trend. And their offense would be a lot more timid with Foles in there.

But just because a college coach comes into the league doesn't mean he's gonna fail like Spurrier and Saban did. Carroll is doing pretty well up in Seattle.

What if the moon crashes into the earth? Vick has never played one 16 game season in his career. In Philly he's played 12, 12, 13, and 10. Ain't going to happen.

Dennis Dixon, really? I don't think people fully appreciate how much better, faster, and stronger NFL players are than their college counterparts. There's a reason the option never caught on in the NFL and why you've seen way less of the read option in week 1 of the NFL than you saw last year.

Also, 53 man roster vs. 100 scholarship guys in college.

I think Jets got hosed on both reviews.

The TD play, the review showed the ball loose, but never showed it hit the ground...

Bad call on the catch. His third step hit the ground at the same time.

Merriweather takes Eddie lacy out of the game with an illegal hit with the helmet. Then takes himself out trying to light up Starks. Maybe while he's out he can learn how to properly tackle.
