If you can't even mildly enjoy the Letterman show, something's wrong with you

I can enjoy most talk shows, but I'd easily put Kimmell and Conan ahead of Dave, for starters

and that's fine

but none of them would be talk show hosts if it weren't for Letterman, who is one of the most important television personalities of all time

and he obviously doesn't give it the same effort that he used to, but that doesn't make him a terrible host on the worst late night show

when he's on there isn't anybody better

to ease the thread back on topic, we need to recruit a mobile QB named Arsenio

watched the last few minutes of it... interview seemed fine until the end. letterman just failed to segway out of the topic of his dad dying... which is weird but i guess maybe they were running out of time? either way i can see thinking it was a wtf moment and really letterman shouldn't have even asked those questions if they couldn't be followed up. it came off like he just wanted to make sure everyone knew his dad died of diabetes or something.

CBS has a solid late night schedule.

Dave + Craig >>>>>>>>>>> Jay + Jimmy

Also, Letterman was probably just nervous because he had the greatest QB of all time sitting beside him.

He was frustrated that he couldn't get anything juicy out of Wilson. He doesn't really try to hide his displeasure when an interview is not going how he wants it.

Just watched the whole interview. It didn't really seem as awkward as I was expecting, since Dave spent the previous 5 minutes talking with him about the influence his father had on him and things like that.

Russell Wilson is going to be our Michael Jordan

Could have gone to UNC but came here, will win 5 Super Bowls, all the best recruits will come here to be like their hero Russell Wilson, who now also has a brand of athletic gear

Word is that she was banging Golden Tate.

Usually the wives trade-up in these situations (Brent Barry's wife and Tony Parker, for example). Russ must not have been hitting that shit right.

I don't think anyone should be surprised by that....he's white as fuck. If he had been a great basketball player, he most definitely would have been at Duke and we all would have hated him. He's the Shane Battier of the NFL, but a better player/athlete.

I bet his black teammates secretly hate him and/or make fun of him for being so whitebread.

I just noticed on ESPN they show Russel Wilson's college as Wisconsin. If they had to pick one wouldn't NC State make more sense. Wilson spent 4 years at NCSU (including red-shirt) and received his undergraduate degree here.

^^ How do you only notice this in his third year in the league?!?!?!! ESPN lists the school that the player was drafted from. (Don't end a sentence with a preposition)

^^ technically, NCSU did. Had he not been given the chance to play here, Wisconsin (or anyone else for that matter) wouldn't have come calling IMO. This isn't hating on Russell either; he just wasn't highly rated coming out of high school or a better school would have picked him up in the first place. He plays like a boss here, graduates and has a decision to make and a lot more game tape to prove how good he is. I know, I know, rawr rawr TOB sucks, etc... it was still a decision for RW and he likely made the best one for him.

That SI cover is awful. In terms of what they are saying with "gunslingers in the NFC", they are referring more to the fact that the crop of NFC QBS >> AFC QBs currently, not RW and Kap per se.

Brees, Rodgers, Stafford, Cutler, Romo, Eli, Kapernick, RW, Ryan, Cam, Foles, etc. The NFC is loaded at QB right now.

Lol Gunslinger is probably the last word I would use to describe Eli Manning.

Less than half of that list could be legitimacy labeled as gunslingers.

^^Not to mention SF and SEA threw the ball the least amount of times last year. I like RW (obviously) and Kaepernick both...but they're hardly "gunslingers"

So do you think playing football at Duke (which was his only other offer per Scout & Rivals), or piddling away whiffing 3rd strike curveballs in A-ball would have put him in Heisman contention?

Fact is the whole thing played out as well for him as it possible could have. State let him play baseball and football, he picked baseball and went pro, then tried to come back after he sucked. Whatever story of his departure you subscribe to, he left and kicked ass at Wisconsin. So you're all right - he doesn't get to the NFL (probably) without going to Wisconsin, doesn't get there without leaving here, doesn't leave here without getting here first.

Argument is ridiculous anyway. The thread title, which we can all agree with, states that he is a golden god.

I heard Al Michaels on the NBC broadcast say, "They weren't interested in him coming back for his senior year, so he went over to Wisconsin..."

As if it were that cut and dry. Sheesh. Thanks to NC State Shit, it was a lose-lose situation if he'd stayed and started, we would have underachieved and he would not have gotten the visibility to be drafted by Seattle and be as successful. Then Glennon would have transferred, excelled and become a huge NFL success and talking heads would be chastising us for letting him go, calling us shortsighted. y'all know deep down that's what would have happened.

I would. NC State put the heisman marketing campaign out his last year("a man for all seasons"). But he was never a serious contender. Then he went to Wisky and turned heads.

Yeah, he may have gotten on an NFL squad straight from NCSU, and we'd all be here talking about his preseason numbers and whether or not he could be a starting quarterback for "some" team in the NFL. But he certainly wouldn't be the starting QB for the reigning super bowl champs this early in his career. Please buh-lee-dat

I'm actually glad he left here, because he would have most likely been subject to a professional life of struggle had he stayed. Instead he made the decision to do what was best for him (which I don't blame him for) and got the opportunity ncsu could never have given him.
