It's a mediocre band, but the name's no good either.
4/18/2013 9:50:54 PM
Uh, the name is great. But I wouldn't even call them mediocre. Just kind of annoying.
4/18/2013 10:25:28 PM
for me they teeter between pretty good and pretty annoying. it's probably my south-florida-knew-them-before-they-were-big bias. The King's show last year was fun.We were nearly blackout and kind of goofy heckle-dancing. If that's a thing. So many -'s ITP.[Edited on April 19, 2013 at 2:26 AM. Reason : /]

Did anyone else do the Pet-Tich-Eye Kickstarter? Just downloaded it but haven't listened yet.

one track in and this new Thee Oh Sees may be my new favorite album of 2013
4/20/2013 1:24:38 PM
^ It rules. We must've played it 100 times in the store and it never gets old.

arguable encrypted transmission from Boards of Canada yesterday, people now talking about troll/hoax vs. 2013 release.http://i.imgur.com/5NTZ0mL.jpghttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qe4UCjjyr8UI remember w/ the Geogaddi promo release materials, the people working at Schoolkids seemed to take all of it for themselves.[Edited on April 21, 2013 at 1:43 PM. the new Steve Earle album is pretty good. it jumps around a bit, but it's a quick album. The Low Highway
4/24/2013 8:58:05 AM
I'll have to check it out. The only one of his I've ever owned is Transcendental Blues. Any other 1 or 2 that stand out that I should check out? I know he has tons of albums which is honestly why I haven't gotten around to checking others out; I just didn't know where to start.I've been recommended The Mountain before.
4/24/2013 9:54:57 AM
Transcendental Blues is really good. As is The Mountain, in which he's accompanied by the Del McCoury Band. I would recommend Townes (a tribute to TVZ) and Washington Square Serenade. to be honest, his early albums (Copperhead Road, Guitar Town, and any with "The Dukes) are good, but a much more traditional country rock vibe. Almost all of his albums during the Bush era are politically driven, with the last few being more personally reflective. ]
4/24/2013 10:09:42 AM
Yeah I really dig Transcendental Blues. A few tracks I REALLY like (thesequence of Steve's Last Ramble->The Galway Girl->Lonelier Than This) and then the rest are good to listen to too. It's not the kind of stuff I normally listen to on CD but I like that one and I have a feeling I'd like a couple others of his (not the more traditional country rock for sure though).

Junip - Jose Gonzalez's band has a new album out. And it's exactly what you'd expect from a Jose Gonzalez band.

I don't know how I feel about this new Bleached single Dead in your Head. I like singing along but it seems kind of mundane. Doesn't really have the oomph of Electric Chair etc. Guess i should listen to the album
4/30/2013 12:01:45 AM
just wanna say that "Get Lucky" is easily the best single so far this year in a year that's already been chock-full of awesome singles...so fucking catchy
5/2/2013 7:06:51 PM
I want to like it completely but I can't get over the feeling that it sounds like it was designed to sell speakers at best buy.
5/2/2013 8:59:58 PM
The combination of Daft Punk & Nile Rodgers ensures its extreme fidelity. If Jeff Lynne played on it, it'd have to come with some new ultra-super-duper-high-fidelity badge.
5/2/2013 9:34:50 PM
I just wanted to say that I'm really digging a few tracks on the new !!! album
5/3/2013 8:01:32 AM
holy shit this savages album rocks my face off.
5/4/2013 1:46:47 PM
The Knife "Shaking the Habitual" is incredible.
5/4/2013 6:44:33 PM
Copypasta from reddit, but Grohl is preaching the truth right here
5/5/2013 7:55:33 PM
Listened to that Savages record. Not a fan. Super '80s and sounds like bad Siouxsie b-sides.
5/5/2013 8:49:14 PM
New Vampire Weekend leaked. Haven't listened yet, but the few tracks that were out there before were pretty great.
5/6/2013 2:08:17 PM
Should we even call it "leaked" any more if it's seven hours 'til the release date?
5/6/2013 5:17:45 PM
They moved the release back to May 14
5/6/2013 5:30:16 PM
I disagree with dave grohl. I don't want anyone who would watch american idol anywhere near my rock and roll. If you think music being a competition is anything near reality then please stay in whatever shitty pop american idol is a part of. Speaking of dave grohl who was way better in this band than any of those times he thinks he should be playing guitar and singingI'm Krallum and I approved this message./]
5/6/2013 6:01:57 PM
new vampire weekend is super catchy.
5/6/2013 9:38:45 PM
through the first three songs, this new Talib Kweli album is pretty dope
5/7/2013 11:13:34 AM
the hype over the new Mikal Cronin album is completely justifiedholy hell
5/7/2013 1:28:38 PM
^my ears thank you for that post
5/7/2013 2:30:09 PM
yeah, i was so surprised by how good the new mikal cronin was when i first heard it like a month ago...i knew he was good but i didn't know he was that goodalso this new vampire weekend is really really good. i have to admit i didn't think they would do much after their debut, but they've written three really good records that expand on their sound while remaining true to it. i wouldn't be surprised if "diane young" even got radio airplay, sounds like it could be a radio hit.
5/8/2013 7:22:14 PM
"worship you">"ya hey" is a fantastic back to back combo.
5/9/2013 12:05:03 AM
I guess I'll give that Michael Cronenberg an honest listen. Pretty sure I didn't like the song I had heard off of it.
5/9/2013 1:07:55 AM
For the record I think Merge is a pretty terrible label in who they sign as opposed to my overall tastes, and that was a huge turnoff to begin with. If I don't like this record, I'm probly gonna choke a bitch from the Internet for making me listen to it.
5/9/2013 1:12:49 AM
Vampire Weekend album is great
5/9/2013 3:14:06 AM
^^ It's fine, but I don't get the people who are flipping for it. It's a solid pop record, but I've listened to it a half dozen times and can probably only recall one hook.
5/9/2013 10:54:56 AM
not really feeling the new love language song. https://soundcloud.com/mergerecords/the-love-language-calm-down
5/9/2013 9:32:23 PM
oofafter ^ that song finished, She & Him started playing and made me want to kill myself
5/9/2013 9:48:37 PM
the new National record is really, really fucking good, and that's saying a lot after only a couple of listens since it usually takes a while for their stuff to grow on me.
5/9/2013 10:24:55 PM
and, that new Love Language song is... uggh.
5/9/2013 10:31:48 PM
Agree with all of the above-Vampire Weekend is much better than expected-The new National album is incredible and demands/ deserves 10000000 listens-That new Love Language song is crap
5/9/2013 10:54:12 PM
I don't even know who's in the love language anymore...
5/9/2013 11:47:59 PM
^^agreed on all accounts. vampire weekend album is really good, national is amazing, love language is meh. heard they were very boring at the block party at cat's.
5/10/2013 1:32:36 AM
a few of the tracks from Jason Isbell's new solo album are awesome. can't wait to hear it all
