There is no significant in-person voter fraudAlso, it would be less of an issue if it was phased in with enough time and notice. This was a rush job obviously for a reason.
10/3/2012 7:06:28 AM
^^I assumed you would be against this. Also the only reason you have to show ID in many of those situations is bc the establishment letting you in could be fined if they let in a minor.
10/3/2012 7:34:42 AM
See the issue isn't the voter ID law. I think most are ok with it in principle. The issue is the fact that they are trying to do it without the necessary infrastructure in place to make it as easy for ALL eligible voters to attain. You simply can't do that in six months by railroading laws in.If "Republicans" really want this then they need to have the government provide a way for all citizens to be able to get it as easily as possible.

I mean, if you were black and in New Orleans after Katrina, wouldn't you be a bit upset?Especially after the Bush family gave publicly racists remarks. And to be honest, I don't hate religion and get upset with atheists that want to wipe their ass with the Bible. There is nothing wrong with the scripture. I think that the scripture is beautiful and informative about models to live one's life. I don't have a problem with the fact the Romney is Mormon. How can we push tolerance on others and then ourselves not be tolerant?[Edited on October 3, 2012 at 10:07 AM. Reason : double post]

What's the source on "there is no significant in-person voter fraud"?The only thing I've seen thus far is mentioning the number of convictions or the like; which is a bad measure.
10/3/2012 10:39:40 AM
^^lots of trolling going on right there
10/3/2012 10:45:01 AM
not really.
10/3/2012 11:10:18 AM
Ok.If i lost my home in New Orleans, I'd be upset, and i'm white.I don't recall the Bush family making racists remarks. The scripture also contains quite a bit of violence and hypocrisy.I can be tolerant of people believing in mormonism, christianity, or islam, and still question their intelligence for believing in silly fairytales.

so is this where the live chat on the debate will be had in this thread?
10/3/2012 6:22:34 PM
Someone should probably make one of our notorious **OFFICIAL Obama/Romney debate night thread** in keeping with tradition.Probably should make it the exclusive discussion thread regarding these two candidates from here on out. Everything else has been beat to death.

No, he just doesn't like crazy assholes that are just crazy for the sake of being crazy.Crazy to the extent where they are dangerous for intangible reasons.I don't think anyone is going to argue otherwise (except the crazies).disco_stu was spot on for his critique of Islamic extremist behavior in light of Muhammad portrayals (for example).

Just wanted to point out to all the libtards in this thread that I told you obama was going to get destroyed in the debate. The guy is a terrible speaker with a terrible record. When you take the sound bytes away that the liberal media uses to steer elections its just impossible for an uneducated person like obama to compete with an experienced business man. Have you guys ever held a job and been in a meeting before? Who sounds like they know what they're talking about? The grunt complaining about how someone in the office doesn't make more coffee after they kill it, or the guy in a $5,000 suit who flew in on the company dime to speak about new corporate policies? If you were paying even the slightest bit of attention you knew obamas weakness was going to be the debates. Just wait until you see biden vs Ryan. That is going to be so lopsided that msnbc may not even cover the event

LIBTARDS!!!DESTROYED!!!
10/4/2012 10:13:07 AM
^^We don't have to gloat.Liberals have been gloating and claiming this election was a wash since day one.Sit back and enjoy for sure, but he's not in serious trouble until he repeats this performance. Be happy with yourself that you saw this coming; Obama's incompetence at this point seems easily personified in a debate format. But again, it has to be repeated to not be an anomaly. Enjoy the Romney momentum for now I suppose. Also, nobody really cares about the VP debate too much, but we're all aware of what Biden can do. He will either be extremely good or extremely shit. I worry about Ryan as I haven't seen him in this capacity before. He is obviously extremely good at posturing, which is half of debating anyway, but I'm afraid he will try to emulate Romney's style last night and overdo it.That isn't necessary against Joe.[Edited on October 4, 2012 at 10:14 AM. romney did better than expected. maybe he was the "winner". nobody was "destroyed" or "crushed" though, even if hannity did call it a "Rocky Mountain Beat-down". BTW, your crazy rant in the TOB thread was entertaining. is that just coffee?V nah man, i was talking to face, and referring to the Tom O'Brien thread in ST. Check it out, it's amusing. Looks like they're both back to campaigning and having rallies in swing states. I did notice NC got a mention last night in the President's closing remarks. With early voting and absentee voting already underway many states like Ohio ground game is going to be pretty important at this point.
10/4/2012 11:10:48 AM
Thank you sir, for such astute remarks.

10/4/2012 11:48:15 AM
What's the problem? Why waste money on exit polls in states where one is a statistical certainty to win?Can we learn anything from an exit poll in Mississippi or Vermont?
10/4/2012 11:53:09 AM
I've never really understood the importance of exit-polling anyways, except to add fodder to the 24/7 news cycle. If there's more to it, please explain.
10/4/2012 11:55:25 AM
It's a weak double-check against actual vote tallies, but only if the spread is wide, and in that regard it's only about as good as the pre-vote polls.
10/4/2012 11:57:11 AM
well it hasn't worked, in very recent history when the spread was wide not shit was done about itand they are even less accurate now because of early voting and suchso fuck it
10/4/2012 12:11:34 PM
Why not scrap them all then?
10/4/2012 12:27:01 PM
We are in the middle of a poll transformation right now, traditional auto-dialing systems no longer work well because they are less and less accurate (can only call landlines). We are already starting to see that being replaced with other measures (internet, Xbox, human calling to cell phones, etc...)So we aren't exactly trashing all of them, but they have already started to change
10/4/2012 12:43:42 PM
Obama definitely lost the debate last night, no shame in admitting that. I was expecting him to come out guns blazing and call Romney out on all his bullshit, but instead he looked passive and wholly disinterested. He let Romney control the narrative and basically get the last word on every major issue except Medicare. Now, almost every "point" Romney made was a lie or a distortion, but that doesn't really matter. It's all about sound bytes and appearances when determining winners of these "debates".Will it have an effect on the actual results? Nope. Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, and Iowa are long gone for Romney. Virginia is getting there. The only state this might flip in Romney's favor is Florida, which still puts him well short of 270.

[Edited on October 4, 2012 at 12:47 PM. Reason : dp]
So, is there any explanation as to why Obama played it safe and conservative? He detailed out very good points, but did not come off as the aggressor? Is it because of fear of Romney being too quick on his feet?
