^^I did watch the video but I read about that shit. Someone called her out on being fat...life goes on. Either lose weight or accept the fact that as a public figure (of sorts) you're going to get such comments...life goes on fatty.

That wasn't really an attack at all. The tone of the note was more of concern. And LOL and her comparing being fat to being black or homosexual. You can't change you sexual orientation or skin color. But you can address and fix your obesity issue.

I agree with her notion that people need to be more kind to strangers and not point out others' shortcomings, but I will never understand a person flat out accepting that they are overweight and unhealthy and being proud of it.

You're right... you obviously didn't watch it. She used it as a great example to teach about discrimination and how it's just inappropriate. Apparently it's national bullying month, so she took the situation and turned it to talk about how children who bully learn the behavior from their parents.

Damn, so it is. I better get started bullying because I've already missed two days.

2) LOL at neodata686

3) If the shoe fits.

Now I'm against bullying but this doesn't exactly meet the criteria in my book but whatever. People are all into this touchy-feely bullshit these days and it's a problem because the more people whine the more other people think it's okay to act like a victim whet shit doesn't go their way. This story deserves its own entry in the "Pussification of America Continues..." thread.

The argument of the email she talked about in the video is that fat people on TV are setting a poor example for young people.

So, since I know you wanted my opinion.... I can agree that we need role models to teach kids to not be fat. It's just that, being fat isn't correlated with setting an example of being fat. I mean, the news isn't showing video of her eating lunch.

You could surround a kid with fat people who ate nothing but salads and exercised 2 hours a day, and I think the kid would grow up skinny. I mean, correct me if anyone disagrees with this point. The more hazardous example would be the Victoria's Secret model who om noms on fried chicken in front of the camera and throws up in private. This is how we make fat people.

uh, that email wasn't bullying. it was a statement of fact. should it have been sent? probably not, fat people know they're fat. but she should have just deleted and moved on... or better yet, lose weight!

Yeah, her reaction was just whiny. That email was blunt, but not mean or rude in tone. It stated a fact, that she's obese, that it's unhealthy, and that those in the public eye do set an example for others in terms of appearance.

You hear all the time about how terrible it is that magazines set unhealthy and unrealistic standards for women by showing too skinny celebrities. However, if you point out how unhealthy obesity is it's bullying?

I call bullshit. Nothing about that email was bullying.

if she gets her ass kicked for the sole reason of her fatness, then she can call it a hate crime too.

[Edited on October 3, 2012 at 12:53 PM. Reason : although she could avoid it by losing some weight]

No it's not just ass kicking any idea spoken against is hate speech

If someone called in and said something about her being gay then you'd all be calling them a bully

It's true

My homeboy threw a gay guy out of his bar because he was promoting some other bar on the premises and they guy actually presses charges for a hate crime

Who are you to criticize someone you don't know for their lifestyle choice when they aren't hurting anyone, not bitching about it, and isn't affecting their career negatively?

And then to turn around and act like she has no business schooling you in even a civil manner? That is cowardice and is actually the epitome of pussification

at my gf's job there were two women vying for the assistant manager position, woman A clearly qualified and had the whole salon behind her, woman B vindictive, spiteful, disliked, and terrible at her job. It was a no-brainer and the salon manager and GM were on board with A. Behind everyone's back, woman B calls corporate and complains she is being held back because she is black and gives "evidence" of discrimination. Corporate comes down on the salon saying only that they must hire B without giving much reason. B is hired for the job. What wasn't mentioned to corporate was that A is also black. What wasn't mentioned to the salon was that B brought up racism as her reasoning. So due to some full-circle bullshit, the worthless bitch gets the job. How is this relevant? It's not. Thanks for reading!

I love to eat, more than anyone. And I love to eat things that are bad for me. It really is an addiction. Now I've never been one that you could call "fat," however medically, I was considered oibese - 5'4'' and topped out at 190.

Through a lot..A LOT of will power of watching what I eat, and exercise, I was able to lose 40 lbs. This isn't to brag, this is to say that if I can do it, anybody can. Because did I mention I love to eat?

It is well established at this point that being gay isn't a "condition" to be changed, so the concept of this thread is flawed. I'm pretty sure the amount of obesity that is due to hormones or genes pales in comparison to obesity caused by poor eating habits and lifestyle choices.

But at the same token, all the people doing the fat-shaming, making fun of etc, I hope there's a special corner in hell for you folks, you're no different than your average high school bully.

When I say "fat" I mean in terms of appearance. I didn't look chubby, so one wouldn't necessarily see me and be like "that guy if freakin fat."

I was surprised to see that my ideal weight for my height is 147. That is crazy - the amount of work and will power to get to 150 was difficult, and maintaining isn't easy either.

I can guaranteedamntee you that if I saw you at 5'4" 190lbs...that I would have thought you looked pretty chubby...and most likely I would have labeled you fat. Your fat ass can't hide 190lbs on a 5'4" frame.

And that ice cream pizza looks fucking delicious...and there's nothing wrong with it. It's akin to having ice cream and cookies at a party...it's fucking desert. It's not like people are eating it for dinner.

Wasn't there a study that smokers or obese people are a smaller strain on the healthcare system because they die sooner? Whereas preventing obesity and getting people to stop smoking would put more of a strain on healthcare because those people would live much longer and have more expensive bills at older ages?
