5/8/2012 10:09:32 AM
haha that was awkward
5/8/2012 10:59:18 AM
I mean somebody HAS to die in that elevator shaft before the season ends right?
5/8/2012 11:07:46 AM
That would be pretty dumb and lazy]
5/8/2012 11:14:21 AM
probably be one of those black janitors
5/8/2012 11:27:20 AM
^^so you think it's more likely that it was just a metaphorical non sequitor rather than a Checkov's elevator??sems pretty lazy to introduce thaat device for metaphorical purposes only.[Edited on May 8, 2012 at 1:59 PM. Reason : a]
5/8/2012 1:57:21 PM
that was freaky either way, though
5/8/2012 2:03:09 PM
Pretty sure Chekov used a turbolift, morons.
5/8/2012 2:05:48 PM
It's just weird to me to analyze Mad Men like Lost
5/8/2012 3:05:41 PM
BOYCOTT THE THREADDD
5/8/2012 7:02:57 PM
is the season over??
5/8/2012 7:33:01 PM
seems more likely the elevator shaft is a metaphor. don was doing and feeling great with megan there, and the second she leaves, he literally almost falls down an elevator shaft. things will not be good for don at scdp.

The season is definitely the fall of Don. He has been told people won't do business with him, we've seen multiple signs of how he can't stay with the times and his image is changing(doesn't get the music, thought the "lemon" ads were failures, whore house thought he was a cop, etc...) and now he is losing the element that keeps him together.

Two scenes with the Jewish copywriter (Ginsberg) were pretty funny.1) Roger: Monarch wine is owned by Manischewitz, and they make wine for Jewish people. Now they're making wine for normal people.2) Ginsberg: I feel sorry for you.Don: I don't think about you.
5/14/2012 2:16:05 AM
I'm not liking this season...it feels like its going no where.
5/14/2012 8:49:31 AM
you thought this episode is going nowhere??I mean sally is on the verge of realizing how much of her life is a total freaking lie and everyone has been lying to her. Don is getting accounts, even though hes doin it the shady way hes got that cutthroat mentality back. I was actually glad to see betty back, because i hate her but i missed her a little. To use your daughter in that fashion is the lowest of the low. Oh Betty, I hate you so good.Roger mindfuckin jane was messed up IMO, im not sure if he did that intentionally or if he really feels bad. Maybe he figures id hes payin for the apartment hen hes gonna leave a piece of himself there .[Edited on May 14, 2012 at 9:39 AM. Reason : e]

Betty reminds me too much of my mother when I was growing up. Selfish and hateful. My mother also went from a skinny hot blonde to fat and ugly[Edited on May 14, 2012 at 10:13 AM. Reason : g]

I didn't like the direction they were taking Betty but this episode made me change my mind. Her agony was hilarious.
5/14/2012 10:18:58 AM
no kidding, i dont think shes useless anymore
5/14/2012 10:40:11 AM
sally is her mother's daughter for sure. ha
5/14/2012 10:50:09 AM
And with her acting lessons she could be worse than her mother. As I said the beginning of the season, such an impressionable age...
5/14/2012 10:56:24 AM
I like how on the chalk board at the Weight Watchers meeting you basically couldn't eat ANYTHING.
5/14/2012 10:57:57 AM
I am pretty sure that Charles Barkley agrees
5/14/2012 11:05:34 AM
man, Betty is a scumbag.
5/14/2012 10:19:39 PM

I have a question for the OGs of Mad Men....Why do you think it is that no one hates Don? I mean he stole his superior's identity and I would think that would be considered reprehensible. Does he get a pass because his family sucked?
5/15/2012 11:15:43 AM
because he had a god awful youth, wanted to get out the war, and Anna Draper was fine with ithe's a complex character that's written and acted perfectly
5/15/2012 11:22:32 AM
Also, I don't remember anyone knowing except Pete in the office. He tried to tell Bert but Bert didn't give a shit because Don makes those fat stacks.

5/16/2012 12:12:45 AM
I still don't get why Don snooped around the office, found the Jewish dude's snowball idea, appeared to love it, and then can it so that he could push through his own shitty idea. Thoughts?
5/16/2012 11:33:03 AM
He didn't love Ginsburg's ideas, he loved coming up with his own idea for the product.[Edited on May 16, 2012 at 11:57 AM. Reason : and he's Don Draper and can still do whatever the fuck he wants, so he pitched his own idea]
5/16/2012 11:56:07 AM
He loved it, and remembered what it felt like to come up with the ideas instead of just landing the deal in the meeting. It inspired him to come up with something on his own, and he trashed Ginsburg's idea in an effort to make sure it was his idea that was selected. He wanted the thrill of coming up with something and then the thrill of selling it.
5/16/2012 12:24:25 PM
hes already starting to see ginsberg just might be that dude. Ginsberg's name on all those copies at the beginning, The fact that ginsberg got everone laughing at his ideas in the office. Keep in mind that the remainder of the staff went along with Don's idea after a certain point...but they didnt love it. They enjoyed Ginsbergs, and ginsbergs idea was actually more marketable to the young target audience. So in Don's mind he lost round one against ginsberg, even though he got approval for his idea. He left mikes idea in the cab so that he didnt lose round two. I see it as hes off his game creatively because he was strugglin to come up with his ideas, but he sold the lesser idea and got the account with it. Coupled with the way he handled ginsberg in the elevator, we know Don is still a beast competitively and is clearly the man in charge. He can still pitch his ideas effectively[Edited on May 16, 2012 at 12:35 PM. Reason : i dont think his idea was "shitty" just not as good as the ginz]
5/16/2012 12:34:21 PM
p.s. i really really like that beatles song from last week[Edited on May 16, 2012 at 12:38 PM. Reason : d]
5/16/2012 12:38:01 PM
damn you know he's the man when he's getting nicknames like "the ginz"
5/16/2012 12:39:13 PM
^^ yea, awesome song.. the rest of revolver is pretty run of the mill beatles up to that point (i mean it's still good), but then they slap you in the face with the last track. love it.
5/16/2012 2:01:59 PM
You all are faggots if you don't understand why Don pushed his own idea over the Jew's.
