I can't believe my box made out of a magazine was such a big controversy
2/27/2012 8:35:15 PM
yeah i mean they sell em at urban outfitters. or they did.
2/27/2012 8:48:50 PM
I saw a trash can like that made out of magazines at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
2/27/2012 8:54:16 PM
Lol...I mean honestly it was just something to occupy my time...a lot's been on my mind lately and it gave me something to do that took my mind off things...I was totally in that mood all weekend to just hermit out...the box I made will either find a use or sit around in my room for a couple of weeks till I go on a throw everything away mode that I go on twice a month and make the next round of toss it.
2/27/2012 8:56:46 PM
Well, I don't have a problem with it. I think crafty things are neato.
2/27/2012 8:58:56 PM
I don't get it eithermy opinion is not the end of the worldand for the record I like the stuff I've seen in the stores made out of magazines....I've see it at TJ Maxx/Marshalls a lot (and urban)

I doubt the majority of sites that people pin from would complain, especially sites that sell anything (including advertising). Pinterest has driven so much traffic to blogs and retailers that they would be silly to. Half the sites I pint stuff on have their own Pinterest accounts or have mentioned it on their blog or website or facebook Just be smart.

^^^^In this day and age when people are "sue happy", you can get sued for pretty much anything. And it's a really gray area in the internet/copyright world. And Pinterest has cleverly "covered their asses" so that if something like this happened, they will be absolved of any liability and that the user will take the brunt of the blame. So, in other words...just be careful.

Diva has not been a cunt to me yet. *crossesfingers*
3/2/2012 2:02:08 PM
really?I haven't?!?!?
3/2/2012 2:06:23 PM
That surprises me. Because I think even I have been pretty blunt with acraw on more than one occasion.
3/2/2012 2:09:26 PM
I don't consider bluntness as cuntness. I can do the same if necessary.
3/2/2012 2:13:46 PM
glad you can see the differenceI wish others could as well

This will have to be the next big tech stock.

It may implode on itself soon though if it does not correct glaring legal mistakes. It's not adequately protecting itself through the DMCA, and the site is trying to shift all responsibility to the users to indemnify in the event of a suit.[Edited on March 14, 2012 at 2:25 PM. Reason : ]
3/14/2012 2:24:50 PM
It's not doing anything that other sites aren't already doing. Can't they just emulate the policies of Facebook/Myspace/whatever?
3/14/2012 2:27:02 PM
I have this one dress I pinned last fall from modcloth. I thought I'd go back and buy it one pay day but I never did. It's been repinned 96 times. I dont get it why though, the dress isn't even available on the website anymore to purchase
3/14/2012 2:28:25 PM
They should, but they aren't. For instance, under the DMCA, if you have offending material on your site, you are required to take it down. Pinterest terms state they will take whatever action Pinterest deems is appropriate. Then, if they get sued for violating the DMCA, they'll turn around and hold you responsible, even though they were the ones with notice. On facebook, you can flag an item as a violation of copyright, and then facebook takes the item down. Here's a good summation of the problems: http://www.dmcahandbook.com/2012/02/changes-needed-to-pinterests-dmca-policy/
3/14/2012 2:31:00 PM
ugh pinterest just pissed me off because a bunch of articles I posted have my email address in the links that everyone can see. You'd think they would have figured out how to change links that have backtracks Delete Pin Delete PinI'm sure there's a bunch of people who wont notice this.

I've got pinners mad at me for a pin I posted 7 weeks ago. I follow all of the offbeat empire pages, and they had a blog about seed starter ideas versus using peat pots. I pinned it to remember for next season (as this one I just did seed in ground) to try to keep things cheap or even more green in some instances. The toilet paper rolls that the blog suggested apparently didn't work for two pinners and they are mad that I didn't TRY the method first BEFORE pinning it.I guess I TOTALLY missed the point of pinterest being an IDEA board to try out at a later date. I told them to follow at their own risk.
4/27/2012 10:05:56 AM
hahaha
4/27/2012 10:10:21 AM
hahaha wow
4/27/2012 10:15:36 AM
I guess I'm gonna make my boards private now. I didn't mind having people I didn't know follow me b/c I felt like having a larger net to get ideas was a good thing. I've found some other great blogs of topics I'm interested in this way. But this is ridiculous.
4/27/2012 10:23:04 AM
I read ^ and was confused until I backed up and read ^^^^.I leave mine public so I haven't looked into it, but is there a way to make certain aspects private or closed? It would be nice if you could separately control keeping your board public or totally private, versus keeping it public but not allowing comments (just following and repins), etc.
4/30/2012 1:57:51 PM
can you make pinterest boards private now? i know before you couldn't.
4/30/2012 2:08:50 PM
oh I don't know. Honestly I just assumed you could now since she said that I've seen people talk about it previously but maybe they were just saying that would like the ability to make things private.
4/30/2012 2:13:33 PM
i just looked and i didn't see anything....unless i didn't look in the right spot
4/30/2012 2:15:24 PM
Last time I looked you couldn't make it privateyou could just block folks that were following you
4/30/2012 2:29:43 PM
Anyone have an invite? Apparently they only way you can save fabrics on Spoonflower is by pinning them, other than bookmarking each individual page
6/8/2012 11:51:52 AM
PM me your email address and I'll send you the invite
6/8/2012 12:00:48 PM
Yay you're my hero!
6/8/2012 12:09:42 PM
My wife has been into this for a while but almost exclusively for finding new recipes/desserts to make and it's been pretty awesome.I just started an account because I'm into crafty type things and it makes it easy to find cool design ideas if you look in the right places. I like to make cards and presents for my wife so I'll definitely be using it for stuff like that. I just wish there was a way to like/pin things privately so she wouldn't be able to see it.
