Today I just watched the last 4-5 episodes that I missed, and my god were they hilarious. This has slowly replaced Community as one of my favorite shows on TV. Part of the reason is for the sub-par episodes Community has had since it returned, but mostly b/c New Girl's episodes have been just so wonderfully hilarious and entertaining

In the beginning I would've said Schmidt in a heartbeat, but then Nick had the episode of sitting at Russell's desk acting different important desk jobs out. I can't choose between the two now.

Schmidt's lines are gold. There is some witty writing in this show, but his are the best. If I were the other actors, I'd be pissed that he's getting the best lines.

Question...

How much input do actors have with the script? Obviously they probably get more input the longer the show has been on and the have more cred...but how much ad-libbing do you think goes on in shows like this?? When I like a character, I like to think they make up all of their jokes.

I watched the pilot, and was not too impressed, so did not continue to watch. I checked in on this thread from time to time, and after watching some links ended up downloading most of the season. It is a pretty good show, not great, but a lot better than most of the shit out there. Thought the finale was pretty good, the White Fang parts I liked, Jess "acting like a coyote" was hard for me to watch bad, but overall i enjoyed it.

I had missed the week before and did a double-header last night. I really enjoyed Schmidt with his broken penis and since I watch Happy Endings I really enjoyed the line about Coach at the end. The finale did not bring as much funny, but I enjoyed it. Esp. White Fang and MEEP MEEP.
