Sounds like JR doesn't wanna resign anyone. This is getting frustrating.
6/28/2011 12:31:22 PM
Frustrating but expected. Small market team general manager vs. agents trying to get the most money for their clients. It's like this every year.
6/28/2011 12:39:10 PM
6/28/2011 12:47:31 PM
even more absurd is that this years cap floor is $9 million more than the 05-06 cap. Teams like us, Florida, and others are going to have to push in order to hit that $48mm floor. Why was there a lockout again?
6/28/2011 12:50:52 PM
Yeah that shirt is straight out of 1988.I don't know who thought that was a good idea.
6/28/2011 12:56:49 PM
Well Hell's Bells, I can't see the shirt.I have an opinion on the salary cap... but I also have conspiracy theory issues I need to get through first. For some reason, now I can see the shirt. I agree.... gross.[Edited on June 28, 2011 at 1:43 PM. Reason : Skinnar!!]

food for thought when considering re-alignment:The horrendously bad travel schedule that the red wings have meant that they racked up more miles than 11 teams last season. Horrifying.http://www.ontheforecheck.com/2011/6/23/2240779/nhl-travel-miles-by-team-super-scheduledear detroit, quit your bitching.
6/28/2011 4:11:03 PM
Dwyer is meh so I don't really know how I feel about this.I will believe the Pitkanen signing when it's officially announced.I wonder how much Cole wanted.
6/28/2011 4:14:54 PM
of course we re-sign Dwyer first[Edited on June 28, 2011 at 4:19 PM. Reason : .]
6/28/2011 4:19:37 PM
And it looks like Pitkanen is a done deal. Chip saying 3 years at $4.5mm per
6/28/2011 4:30:11 PM
6/28/2011 4:35:15 PM
that's what he got last year. pipe down
6/28/2011 4:40:13 PM
also, Chip said they're already talking about a top line of Staal, Ruutu, and Skinner. That would be fucking RETARDED. Hooray 1-line teams!
6/28/2011 4:43:41 PM
the Facebook page is about to get hilarious
6/28/2011 4:44:17 PM
I thought he made less last year. Oh well. Either way, I think it's too much, even though I do like him. Since it's the same amount...what was the hold up?His exit interview from last season just rubbed me the wrong way, though. He sounded like he was ready to get the hell out of here.
6/28/2011 4:44:23 PM
joni loves it here. def could have gotten more money after 7/1
6/28/2011 4:46:12 PM
6/28/2011 4:51:56 PM
For 3 years it isn't bad at all money wise. After all the hate he got from people like on the Canes FB page he was still close to even on the +/-. Hopefully we can find a partner for him on the top pairing that's more of a shut down type guy. I just hope our offense doesn't take a hit with not resigning Jussi/Cole or someone comparable or better.I like the Dwyer signing too, solid 4th line player and not too much $.
6/28/2011 5:11:41 PM
If we can get Jussi on board I'll be happy. Joni's exit interview attitude is based on a cultural difference. I'm not gonna go into detail on my crackleberry finn but I can assure you he likes Raleigh and the Canes organization
6/28/2011 5:16:14 PM
how much is it going to take to re-sign Jussi? When Joni actually plays focused he is a great fit for our system, he just takes too many shifts/games off to be our 3rd highest paid player. I wish we could use that money to sign Jussi and then pick up another Bryan Allen/Derek Joslin type player
6/28/2011 5:19:01 PM
I think we have an outside shot at getting Jussi back, but I think Cole is as good as gone.
6/28/2011 5:27:31 PM
god.dammit.
6/28/2011 5:36:09 PM
?
6/28/2011 5:45:01 PM
I'm ambivalent about the Cole situation.I think that's the most positive thing I've said about him in years.
6/28/2011 5:52:26 PM
the re-signing of Pitkanen doesn't necessarily bar the re-signing of Jokinen, but it certainly doesn't help... and he should have been a priority.I have mixed emotions about Cole. But Pitkanen doesn't deserve 3 years. Especially at 4.5 million. The whole Jussi deal reminds me of when Mussina walked from the Orioles - it wasn't so much that he wanted to go, but that the club didn't make him a priority.
6/28/2011 5:56:12 PM
Nice fucking deal. I thought he was looking at $5 or $5.5.To put it in perspective BROOKS LAICH just signed a 6 year deal today worth $4.5 million per season with a no trade clause.
6/28/2011 6:05:48 PM
^^if you think Joni doesnt deserve 4.5, you're not paying attention to the FA market
6/28/2011 6:08:17 PM

6/28/2011 6:10:38 PM
If you think Pitkanen, warts and all, isn't worth $4.5, especially with only three years, I have two words for you:JEFF.FINGER.
6/28/2011 6:22:55 PM
i was expecting those words to be
6/28/2011 6:26:06 PM
Cole has to resign, he's got to dammit. He's got a hurricanes tattooHES GOT TO DAMMIT
6/28/2011 7:49:07 PM
He should sign here, it's his home. But as already mentioned, look what Brooks Laich got. Cole has to think he can get at least that if not more. And I'm pretty sure JR hasn't come close to those kinds of numbers. And I don't mind Joni at 4.5, he would have gotten 5+ on the open market. Plus, he will be entering his prime playing years the next 3 years. Any more than 4.5 would have been too much for his propensity to lose focus so it's a tolerable contract. Don't forget, this guy does play 23+ minutes a night. [Edited on June 28, 2011 at 8:00 PM. Reason : .]

first, goodlife, nice trollin' bro. We'll see how well those Bobcats of yours do.second,Y'all wanna improve defense, yet prioritize bringing back the guy who's on-ice awareness is about as much as the chick behind the Nutty Bavarian stand. So what-the-fuck ever. When he's off in Joni-land next year and we're on the outside-looking-in come playoffs, don't bitch. We got him at a fair price, right?
6/28/2011 8:40:37 PM
I'm not trolling, dickour D, as lackluster as it is, couldn't have afforded to lose Pitkanenthere is a reason that a majority of the usual Hurricanes posters are 100% behind re-signing him

Larose, 2 years, 1.7M avg cap hit (1.5/1.9)motherfucker.
