COCA-COLA IS THE ONLY TYPE OF REAL COLA OUT THERE. IN FACT, SAYING COCA-COLA IS REDUNDANT...FROM NOW ONE IT'S JUST COCA.

subway isnt too good
8/22/2011 10:56:40 AM
little known fact: most of subway's ingredients are actually made from a proprietary blend of cardboard and saw dust.

Uhhh the Pit is clearly better and the critics agree. Plus, the environment at the Pit is just awesome

^enjoy.
12/27/2013 12:32:09 PM
Cooper's sucks and Smithfield's sucks! At Cooper's the texture is good, but the flavor sucks. At Smithfield's the meat is too fat and chunky.Give me The Pit or Q Shack any day.
12/27/2013 12:35:45 PM
no love for backyard bbq pit?*(not reading a 5 page thread on BBQ to find out)
12/27/2013 12:38:23 PM

back in 2011, on page 1...this is correct:

12/27/2013 1:31:24 PM
12/27/2013 1:34:10 PM
I get the Carolina style ribs at The Pit and I find them fucking delicious. I also really like the collard greens.
12/27/2013 2:12:31 PM
12/27/2013 2:16:33 PM
Q Shack is good... if you need RaleighTakeout to deliver it because your leg is broken and you can't move or something
12/27/2013 2:28:18 PM
12/27/2013 2:53:21 PM
I go there all the time (except in the summer when its 400 degrees inside, then I only go sometimes)
12/27/2013 2:58:31 PM
12/27/2013 4:43:26 PM
wtf are those hushpuppy doughnuts
12/27/2013 4:45:53 PM
[delicious] hushpuppy doughnuts
12/27/2013 4:51:34 PM
as someone who has never been to the q shack, it looks like there's way too much salad on that plate and note enough meat.
12/27/2013 4:56:32 PM
also, no barbecue and a store made cookiebanana pudding and cobbler are the only deserts allowed with barbecue[Edited on December 27, 2013 at 5:24 PM. Reason : and some pies ]
12/27/2013 5:23:31 PM
Q Shack has fantastic hush puppies. And I like the Sausage/Brats or whatever. Mmmm.
12/27/2013 5:35:41 PM
^^correct
12/27/2013 5:44:04 PM
Smithfield's is fast-food BBQ, or maybe "fast-casual" BBQ (prob more like "fast-casual" quality...but often with a drive-through). I mean, it's great that it exists, for when you want some cheap BBQ, in a hurry, and/or there isn't a serious BBQ place around. It's never going to be great, but it's pretty much always going to be OK, day-in, day-out, at pretty much every location.Comparing it to a no-bullshit, legit BBQ place is absurd, though. BBQ is to be cooked over wood. Period. If you aren't cooking it over wood, you are not a real contender.

Wilber's, McCall's and if you are really a true expert...Grady's.All other bbq is no contest.
12/28/2013 1:43:48 AM
^^kids plate? well then...I'll take back what I said about it being a small portion. That's a fine sized meal for it being a kids meal. And ^^^ is pretty spot on about Smithfield's. It's good, consistent bbq. It's not great, but it's never bad. For what it is (essentially fast food bbq), it's pretty damn good.
12/28/2013 9:26:20 AM
I want some hush puppies and honey butter.
12/28/2013 10:03:04 AM
Smithfield's is "meh". I'd rather get fried chicken there than pulled pork. And while an Eastern NC BBQ man...I respect other styles.I also had some Rodney Scott's bbq over the holidays...and while it was delicious, it reminded me of all the regular joints in Eastern NC (Bill's and Joe's) that I grew up eating.

12/28/2013 10:36:06 AM
Everything I've had at the q shack tastes dry and is tasteless without a shit load of sauce.
12/28/2013 11:17:13 AM
^^correct again.
12/28/2013 12:16:24 PM
The Pit's pork BBQ is very good, the Carolina Ribs are better, and the BBQ beans are phenomenal. However, all are horribly over-priced unless it's lunch prices.
12/28/2013 12:27:21 PM
I haven't really found a joint I couldn't live without. Most of the best BBQ I've had was home cooked by friends/acquaintances, not in restaurants. One of my favorites though was Moore's in New BernI'm gonna have to try Grady's and Stephensons.

Jbrick is spot on about Smithfields fried chicken. Extremely tasty
12/28/2013 2:12:47 PM
I think Cooper's has the best fried chicken I've ever had. Their sides are kinda lame, but they've got the meat situation on lock.
12/28/2013 2:14:11 PM
I do have to say I dont eat the bbq at q shack. I like the sausage/brats, hush puppies, and sweet potato fries. Also, the is banana pudding makes me sad. Tastes like banana flavored Jello pudding with 2 or three slices of uncooked banana and a vanilla wafer stuck in.
12/28/2013 2:58:56 PM
I just like that I can get a pint of bbq at smithfields for the same cost as a plate at the pit. both are very good. coopers needs to start accepting cards. bbq lodge is deplorable. also, nobody ever mentions old time bbq, which can be ok.
12/28/2013 6:08:17 PM
Danny's BBQ in Apex or Morrisville is pretty damn good if you don't mind the drive.
