Why buy a phone that will be updates in a few months?

^^ Why buy anything electronic that will be updated in a few months?I had Sprint, but got no coverage where I lived and worked. I get a 17% discount with Verizon, and really, the iPhone with the data pak is the best deal with Verizon. Droids are limited to 2GB limits on data. The iPhone is not, yet it doesn't cost me anything. So no, I'm not going to wait 8-12 months for a new iPhone, because lets be honest, something new is always around the corner. Might as well bite the bullet and go with it when you can.

^ I really don't care, in case you weren't able to tell. Again, with my previous provider, I DON'T HAVE COVERAGE. And by coverage, I mean, I CAN'T MAKE CALLS. Why wait 5 months? For what, something that might come out in 5 months? I'm done shooting myself in the foot. The phone is great, and I'm satisfied with it. I have no doubt the next one will be better, but if I always wait for the latest and greatest, I will always be left waiting. At the end of the day, when it comes down to it, it's a phone that can browse the Internet and play music. The next one will be able to do the same thing as this one. It may be able to download a little faster, but to be honest, it's not going to make much of a difference. I'm not going to be downloading large files or tethering it to my laptop.

yeah, not sure where the Droids being limited came from. And other than speculation, there is nothing definitive that Verizon will get another iPhone this summer. The Verizon iPhone 4 has the chip needed to be a world phone support so there's speculation that the next one could be CDMA/GSM but that's just speculation. I'd almost bet against an LTE version being released until at least next year.

I think people have grown tired of lines and prefer to preorder. I would have but have been in hong kong. Think I might switch to vzw upon my return AT&T coverage is scant n Randolph county.

^Exactly -- why go stand in line when you can order it on Verizon's / Apple's / Best Buy's / Walmart's website?Glad to finally be rid of this damn BlackBerry...

Decided today that I will renew my contract w/ Verizon and wait til iPhone 5 comes out (it'll be my first smartphone)thanks, kiljadn! ]

why renew a contract if you are waiting for a new phone, just go month-to-month
3/12/2011 4:25:57 PM
I'm going month-to-month until I get the iPhone so I can get a renewal credit/discount & get the phone at the 2-yr contract price ]

Played with the iPhone 4, the iPad 2 and the Xoom at Verizon this afternoon. Came away unimpressed.

Got the wife one yesterday. Like it so far but it has been less than 24 hrs. Got the $30 discount for waiting until the end of her current 2 yr contract.

say the iphone 5 isn't released until september. our contract (small business with 7 iphone 3GSs on at&t right now) is up on june 26. we are all DYING to get away from at&t, especially since we're not in a big city & verizon's coverage is a million times better out here...but i'd hate for us to all go get iphone 4s just to have a new one released a few months later. what should we do?i'm more temped to wait it out. we've been 2 years w/ at&t, just now got 3g, we could probably stand to wait another 3 months...but boss/dad might have different thoughts on that.
