you guys are ridiculous

^^^^What exactly do you not believe? Cassel had absolutely ZERO national exposure during his college career. He did well at USC's pro day and got drafted in the 7th round. At the LEAST, Glennon will be have a full year of starts under his belt, his own pro-day (unless he completely bombs), and the NFL combine. The bottom line is that it really doesn't matter where you play (Joe Flacco, Steve McNair, etc), or in Cassel's situation, even if you play at all. If you have the ability to play in the NFL, you'll get drafted or picked up by a team (like Gates, who signed as a free agent after not even playing college football).
1/7/2011 1:22:02 PM
Yeah, the commnets about losing recruits is pretty lame.Glennon knew he was going to have to compete for a starting spot from day one. After Glennon's redshirt year, he could have transferred knowing he may not start till he was a senior. I think Glennon's has bought into the team concept and has accepted his role as a backup until Wilson leaves. If a recruit believes he deserves to start regardless of his performance, then TOB probably won't recruit him.
1/7/2011 1:38:34 PM
For real, and when it comes time to get a new QB, all TOB has to do is find him and say,"Hey, you want to come and have an opportunity to start for NC State on day one? You only have to show up and prove you're the best in spring practice."and the QB's who want four years of exposure to get their careers launched into the pro's will say"ok"[Edited on January 7, 2011 at 1:49 PM. ^ You are an idiot. There are hundreds of of top rated QBs who have signed at big schools over the past decade who never got off the bench and got their "exposure" and a shot at the league. If you can't beat the guy ahead of you the only "exposure" you should get is at the Spring game or in mop-up duty.
1/7/2011 2:05:06 PM
i dont think he is disagreeing with that
1/7/2011 2:08:58 PM
WTF does that have to do with anything? Way to win the random ass rebuttals to nothing award.[Edited on January 7, 2011 at 2:12 PM. Reason : Apology accepted]

My b...thought he was being sarcastic.
1/7/2011 2:11:29 PM
I can't find the quote now but I remember in the offseason TOB saying something to the gist of Glennon having to be content with two years starting. Now it looks like it may be just one. I do think Wilson gives us the best chance of winning but it doesn't mean that I don't feel bad for Glennon. I guarantee Daniel Evans never thought he would play as much as he did yet the opportunity fell in his lap. I remember how bad I felt for Burke when he transferred out. He would have been pretty decent in the right offense which looked to be the case for him at Louisville before he got hurt....Wilson's success this year has been bittersweet because of the presumption that he wouldn't be back. I do think that us establishing a solid running game with a more traditional pocket QB would allow us more formations and the ability to recruit good QB's in the future. Glennon is supposed to be the stepping stone. Nobody expected Wilson to play like he did.....So, like I said....sort of bittersweet.[Edited on January 7, 2011 at 2:33 PM. Reason : sp]

MAYBE.I.WILL.
1/7/2011 3:11:48 PM
Pretty sure all the ridiculous stat lines Russell has put up in our system comprises a powerful recruiting pitch in and of itself. Him coming back gives us even more visibility (ESPN) which projects well for us in the long-term.
1/7/2011 5:04:02 PM

RW not declaring for the draft still doesn't mean that he'll be back next year.Good to hear that about George, though. I really hope we utilize him more next year than we did this year.
1/10/2011 6:46:01 PM
if he were leaving to play baseball anyway would there be a reason NOT to declare for the NFL?
1/10/2011 7:05:25 PM
if he comes back... preseason top 15? 25?
1/10/2011 7:06:26 PM
That's good news about george, he is the shizit
1/10/2011 7:25:11 PM

1/10/2011 7:28:42 PM
for the last two years we have been saying he isn't coming back...
1/10/2011 7:41:19 PM
^ you just made that up, actually.
1/10/2011 8:15:12 PM
^uh, no.Each of the past two years, there were people saying R-Dubs wasn't coming back, especially last year.First time, because he was gonna focus on baseball, and second time, because he was gone to the Rockies and not coming back. Where have you been?
1/10/2011 9:29:53 PM
i've been here. you may have thought he wasn't coming back, but his return hasn't really been in doubt before.
1/10/2011 9:31:39 PM
You have a short memory bro, because there was plenty of speculation last year as to whether RW was gonna come back or just move onto his career in MLB. But its a worthless argument, so whatever.
1/10/2011 9:34:31 PM
yea "bro" ...
1/12/2011 9:42:22 AM
i'm not your bro, friend[Edited on January 12, 2011 at 9:52 AM. Reason : also, simonn, don't you remember when we had to buy russell a LION last year to make him come back?]
1/12/2011 9:47:33 AM
dude's right, there has been speculation for the last two years that he wouldn't be coming back.

Wilson was honored on senior day, right? Wasn't one of the main reasons:a) He won't be here for his senior year, better honor him while we can.

Exactly. The TE is not a #1 option. Can't catch what isn't thrown to you.
1/12/2011 10:57:06 AM
1/12/2011 11:11:10 AM
If he comes back does he get honored again on senior day?
1/12/2011 11:24:44 AM
if he comes back, i say we honor him every game.
1/12/2011 11:28:20 AM
^I see no reason why he wouldn't. I remember Chance Moyer was honored twice...there may be a more recent example.
1/12/2011 11:29:42 AM
Russell decides to go to the NFL and gets drafted by Panthers!
1/12/2011 11:30:01 AM
yeah im sure they want another short QB whose passes get swatted like flies
1/12/2011 11:46:51 AM
Dameyune Craig redux
1/12/2011 11:48:52 AM
This seems to me like Wilson will be coming back. We know he told his dad that he "wants to be a starting baseball player and a starting quarterback." Since he didn't declare it seems like coming back will be the only option to make both of those things happen.
