The only thing about tonight is... We won without our best player. The only question from tonight should be... Is Zo ok?Arizona will be a good game on Sunday. This is the kind of game that we should move to Reynolds, not games against Whogivesafuck State but decent OOC games like Zona.Go Pack![Edited on December 16, 2010 at 10:19 PM. Reason : 1]

That would be badass! I wonder if our team ever gets to hold practices in the RBC. It seems like we don't shoot very well in that arena which is inexcusable considering it is our home court. Did anyone hear why Tracy didn't get any time on the court. I was really hoping he would get a couple minutes to shake of rust and get back into it. [Edited on December 16, 2010 at 10:24 PM. Team looked really good in the 2nd half and awful in the first. I feel like Tracy wouldve helped a lot tonight also because we get absolutley no production from our post without him in there. Also it wasn't the RBC that caused a poor atmosphere it was because it was the last day of exams, bad weather and Youngstown State. I love Reynolds too, but the RBC can be a great venue if we have a good team.

^^^^ I don't know what you're getting at, but most elite programs have completely separate practice complexes from where they play games. It's not THAT much different unless you practice at the local YMCA and then play in a dome.[Edited on December 16, 2010 at 10:26 PM. Reason : x]

we outscored them 46-16 in the 2nd... after being outpointed 34-21 in the 1st.And the women's team beat Presbyterian 74-27!

the problem with having a decent OOC game in reynolds, is that they can't use that decent OOC game to sell season tickets all about the money.

I would kill to have a good OOC game in Reynolds to see it rocking at full cqpacity, but until we start selling out a lot more at the RBC I don't see them sacrificing that type of revenue by having one at Reynolds vs the RBC. Our fans have been awesome for how terrible we've been lately, but not enough to sacrifice money.
12/16/2010 11:20:39 PM
RBC center is a great venue. Top programs all wish they have this venue(if they don't have it already, but it's rare). Blame the poor performance of the team on RBC is just a lame excuse. We beat Duke in RBC last year, I was there, it was great(CJL, Ryan and Brown were all there, I believe it works in favor of us in CJ's decision making process). I guess some people who post here (and saying that RBC is bad for the Pack) don't really go to the games or just being quiet in the game. Bring whatever you can to help the team, post negative things here without even showing up for the game doesn't do any good.Go Pack!

you motherfuckers that think moving a game like this back to Reynolds would instantly make the crowd the best crowd in the NCAA are delusional. the crowd is gonna respond to how the team is playing, and the team played like absolute shit until the 2nd half. when the team did start playing well there was a decent atmosphere given the shit opponent.the RBC atmosphere has the potential to be the best atmosphere in college basketball. the team just has to play up to that level.[Edited on December 17, 2010 at 1:51 AM. Wasn't the RBC Center at one point measured as the loudest arena in North America or USA when the Canes won the Stanley Cup? Pretty sure it was something to that effect. The arena is NOT the problem with anything.[Edited on December 17, 2010 at 2:06 AM. Reason : the fans in it might be another story...]

i think the rbc will be fine once we start winning. It was never great when Herb was there but thats because the basketball was so boring.Obviously its not going to match Reynolds in terms of atmosphere and being an intimidating place to play. The main thing about the RBC is it makes us legitimate and our level of recruiting has been twice as good since we got it. It's not a bad thing having one of the largest and nicest facilities in the entire nation.
12/17/2010 2:09:53 AM
^^I read it.I enjoyed the collection and accounting of videos and pictures. But all that writing on the front and back ends was painful to get through. It was written like a newscaster...except newscasters are only supposed talk for like thirty seconds before moving on to the next story...this ruffles guy gave us a full-on five minutes of bland reporter talk.He needs to spice it up if he wants to go on for so long. Also, why did Alex Rodriguez buy a memorial brick?

As good as Duke plays right now, the only thing I look down upon them is their freaking small stadium. They are good not because of the high school gym, it's because of K, and he is a living legend. Do you see many Duke fans in their football stadium(yeah for the Alabama game)?

I enjoy the games at Reynolds as well as in RBC. It gives you different feelings. But most importantly I enjoy every game we win no matter where we play.I was at the game yesterday, to be honest, I think our student section is surprisingly good given the weather/end of semester/slow start by the team.Go Pack!
12/17/2010 10:09:55 AM
Wow was that your first home game because the student section was pathetic. They need to fucking get off their asses and make some noise. We would go on a run and the opposing coach would call a timeout and the students behind his bench would sit down and try not to disturb his timeout.
12/17/2010 10:14:47 AM
No not my first home game. I understand what you are saying but do you see any team in the ACC has a better crowd than us given their records being worse than ours(well, we don't give them a chance 'cause we are already the dead last)?Go to the game, be loud, enjoy it while you can. I'm done with this crowd argument.[Edited on December 17, 2010 at 10:23 AM. Reason : asdf]

12/17/2010 10:41:45 AM
I hope the team called out the fans for booing, not for how loud they were. It was hard to be loud when we were down 20-3 to the mighty Penguins of Youngstown State.
12/17/2010 10:52:46 AM
We were in Reynolds my first 3 years in school (yeah, i'm old) - and even though we sucked, the stadium would be filled and loud (as long as we weren't getting whooped). Obviously the fact that there are ~7K less seats in Reynolds made it easier to fill, but another factor is that it's on campus - regardless of weather conditions, exams, etc, students consistently attended all games, and students dictate the atmosphere. I dunno, I liked RBC the first season because it was new and shiny, etc, but when I've been back for some OOC games since it just feels dead. Also doesn't help that students are farther from the court in RBC, but that's a different issue. That being said, of course if we turn into a consistent winner, we'll fill the RBC and it will be a fantastic atmosphere. We played a ranked Maryland team there our first year and it was as loud as Reynolds ever was. But who knows when/if we'll field a top program to promote that type of environment every game? In the meantime, I would fully support playing more OOC games in Reynolds, and I think all NCSU fans (students, alums, hell, even the players) would enjoy that. As far as $$ is concerned - we could always charge a few more bucks for tickets there to make up for any shortfall in volume. Duke has sustained a lucrative basketball program without a 19K seat arena (as have others!), a few additional games in a smaller stadium won't have a detrimental impact on our overall athletics revenue. Sorry for the long post, just my two cents...
12/17/2010 10:56:28 AM
I think Sid would make a good rec league coach. He's good at telling guys to hustle and giving out high fives.
12/17/2010 11:49:12 AM
Duke is number 1 in the country and had empty seats in their student section the other night. Very few teams are going to fill their arena game in and game out, especially a team like us that hasn't won shit recently. The point is you can't say the RBC has no atmosphere -- when the team is playing great and playing a huge opponent, it can be incredibly hard to play. the problem is the team... they've never been really good enough to see this more than once or twice a year.Basically after every basket made in this game the arena starts rocking. it was amazingly loud that night.
12/17/2010 12:00:29 PM
dont forget that the majority of seats that were actually for sale at the box office were 15 bucks for top level or directly behind the basket ... I would barely consider coming to a game like this (sitting in the 3rd level) if the game was free ... let alone pay money for it.NCSU needs a better ticketing system ... one that would allow LTR holders to "give back" their seats last minute (or even resale), and have those seats allocated for re-sale so that fans can show up and buy GOOD SEATS at locations where they would traditionally need LTR/Season tickets. Fans should be able to pick up those tickets at the door, or have their smartphone scanned ... so that the ticketing process is easier to transfer from one fan to another without the need for exchange/ticket handoff.
