Whered you see that? I might look into that... be nice for on the fly signal level monitoring if it supports it.

So I was playing with the TWC website to get a price on things and the only option it showed me for Wideband when I was adding things to my cart was their 50/5 for $100 a month.

Fast forward two days and I get a call that says I'd had an order in my cart and asking if I needed any help completing it. I said "I was interested in Wideband, but not at that price"

End of the phone call I've got TWC coming to set up 30/5 for $50 a month. I asked if it was an introductory price and she said no.

Considering I was spending $58 on normal Road Runner, this was hands down the best phone call I've ever had with TWC.

I'm def bringing up the 30/5 service to AT&T when my promotional period is up. I might jump back if I don't get a good deal. Sucks to be back in the palm of the devil.

i'm gonna barrage TW tomorrow with calls until they setup an appt. for 30/5 in Greensboro. I have heard two people say they've gotten it setup in the last week but only after tremendous amounts of harassing and multiple cancellations of appts

.3 upload speed is killing the ability to work from home and videoconference

They're definitely in the process of rolling it out in the Triad area. Some areas in Greensboro are definitely ready to rock. My coworker lives over near the Emerald Point area and he got 30/5 a couple weeks ago.

If you check their network status page, you can see they are in the process of doing DOCSIS 3.0 upgrades all over. Maybe they're just not done in your area yet. I think all of the Triad is scheduled to be done in another 2-3 months though.

http://help.rr.com/hmslogic/network_status.aspx Look for the stuff in yellow that is planned upgrades.

Hope you're able to get it soon!

Thinking of switching from U-verse to the TWC 30/5 plan. Paying $45 for 12/1.5 now, for $5 more I can get the 30/5 plan for 12 months. Is that a decent deal or are people getting better?

Actually forgot that TWC still doesn't give ESPN3 access to their broadband-only customers, so no switch for me. I have no idea what they were thinking by only allowing ESPN3 access to customers who subscribe to cable packages that include ESPN. I don't have any pay-for TV services and I'm not going to sign up for one anytime soon, so looks like I'm sticking with U-verse.

side question: Do the TWC cable boxes/DVRs still blow ass and perform slow as hell? Have they upgraded to new models at all?

^^ I'm not too worked up about it, I'm with AT&T and have access so it's not really an issue unless I swap. I just don't understand why TWC went with that model when no one else offering ESPN3 did...if I'm not mistaken they are the only provider that forces you to have both cable and broadband to get ESPN3.

^^ Just got TWC and the guy said my DVR is a brand new model. Well, I come from UVerse and I think this shit really, really sucks. The interface is laughably slow and it can only handle 2 feeds at a time. I asked him about the 2-DVR setups and he said "Don't. They never work right unless you have them on separate networks'"

If I'm watching a recorded/OnDemand show and press pause it takes 2 seconds for the show to completely stop and you won't here the audio for that time.

If I press 1600 to get to the movie channel area in the guide it flashes ???? because there is no 1600 and I need to know that 1602 is the first channel in that range. (Uverse correctly assumed you wanted the closest channel to what you pressed).

I routinely get sent to the wrong channel because entering numbers is processed so slowly that 1105 becomes "change to 11... change to 5"

FUCK TWC AND THEIR SHITTY EXCLUSIVITY CONTRACT IN BEDFORD

"Time Warner Cable will pay for your Slingbox, in exchange for love
By Amar Toor posted Aug 24th 2011 8:27AM

If you're a faithful Time Warner Cable customer, your next Slingbox purchase could be on the house. Yesterday, the provider announced that it will offer full rebates to any Wideband internet subscribers who buy the $300 set-top box, as part of a promotion due to launch sometime in September. Jeffrey A. Hirsch, TWC's executive vice president and chief marketing officer, told the New York Times that the offer is geared solely toward promoting his company's $99 Wideband service, though it's hard to ignore the move's larger symbolism -- especially in light of that ongoing legal battle with Viacom over live streaming content to the iPad. Time Warner has yet to pinpoint a launch date for its new promotion, but we'll let you know as soon as we get word."

I went ahead and got the 50/5 for a hundred bones. Its worth it for the x264 content on the usenet servers.

Wish the upload was a little better, my OpenVPN server connection could really use a move to 10-15 UP!

Just got 30/5 installed yesterday. Ubee gateway isn't too bad, although I still plan on bridging a WNDR3700 to get simultaneous dual band.

Internet was terribly slow on one PC until I realized it was the only one using TWC's DNS servers. Switched to Google DNS, and it's fast now. Getting 3.5 MB/s downloading from Steam and uploading ~500 KB/s on torrents plus browsing etc. TWC must also have their servers located better wrt Youtube, since HD videos load a lot faster than they did with Uverse. I no longer have to wait for the entire video to load to prevent buffer stops.

I could get 100/100, but I'm not paying 150/month. 60/60 is 100/mo

Still don't get why people need what they're asking for. 10/10 has served me well.

For me, its about multiple people using the same connection to stream, download, play online, and more things. 10/10 isn't that great f two or more people share the same connection and are always doing said data streaming.

at Plex's pricing, you get 8x the download speed for less than twice the price, at a maximum of $85

thats just comfort of mind, especially as skype and cloud software becomes more prominent

Getting terrible speeds today ever since ~2:45pm. Anyone else having this issue?

I'm on 30/5 and this is what I get:

Not only that, but the connection took forever to start up for both download and upload tests. About 30s for download, and 2 min for up!

I decided to cut the cord this week.

I have the 30/5 package and dropped everything else. Technically my bill goes from $140month to $53month. I set up SABnzbd+ and Sickbeard for all of our shows and its working great. However, about 15 minutes ago a TWC truck shows up outside and now my basic cable is gone.

Do not know how long this is gonna last. They offered me $18 for basic when I canceled everything. That's sounding quite good at this point. Everything that I read said you would still have basic cable because you have internet.

^^ Update - I got a call this morning from TWC. They offered me everything I had before; HD Box, HD Service and Extreme 30/5 internet for $76month for 2yrs, no contract. I jumped back on the TWC train before she could even finish her pitch. I wish I had known that's how it works from the beginning.

When I originally called in and canceled my cable the retention department offered me the same package for $120 month. Just thought I would share.

Does anyone have problems with the router for the wideband knocking a Macbook offline or any other wireless device?

Also if I have a Netgear Dual band router, can I use it with this Ubee any kind of way for better performance or should I just sell it?

^ yes. goddamned thing kicks my xbox off all the goddamned time, and my MBP.

you can use a router with it just fine, just set the ubee to bridge mode and it'll be fine. I'd be doing that myself, but my gf has my router.
