2/17/2011 8:34:23 PM
Put together our crib this evening
2/18/2011 10:47:02 PM
Got the crib up and bought a super cute crib set to go with it! It might be a little boyish for our girl but I still love it!!

Did any of you all get a pregnancy test done at the doctors once you had a postive at home test. I have taken three, the two digital say pregnant, and the one with lines has a very faint second line. I'm not due for my period until Monday so I did early test. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but it looks like all signs point to go. I am just wondering if I should hit up my doctors office on Monday to confirm.
2/19/2011 12:27:28 PM
^^ that's REALLY cute. Not at all two boyish.
2/19/2011 12:28:20 PM
You can call and get a confirmation. My doctor's office did a blood test to give me the 100% positive BUT then they won't make an appointment to see you until around 6-8 weeks depending on the doctor. ^Thanks for the nursery comment!! I just love, love, love the crib set! My mom is going to paint an old dresser today and that should be it!
2/19/2011 12:59:46 PM
^ I think I'm on of those folks that will have a hard time believing without a blood test. I think I may see if Planned Parenthood does them since they have walk in hours and are typically cheaper. Thankfully, I already know the doctors I want to use and can call them and get set up (my sister in law used them and thought they did a great job).
2/19/2011 1:29:34 PM
Love both cribs posted on this page, and I don't think your bedding is too boyish at all either! Where did you get that sweet lamp though? VERY cool!We will be putting ours up today and I'm really excited for it, but we don't have any bedding yet--bummer.And fwiw, I took three pee tests w/ the lines...the first two were very strong lines, but the third test the 2nd line was much more faint. I dunno if it's cause I was drinking so much just so I could pee again that it was more diluted or what. Although three positive tests are gonna be pretty darn accurate, I totally understand wanting dr confirmation! Good luck
2/20/2011 4:45:26 AM
iirc theres no such thing as a false positive. The test looks for a certain hormone thats only present when you're pregnant.
2/20/2011 7:32:30 AM
I feel better now. Took the last one I had today - definitely two lines. Plus, I'm feeling symptoms, the nausea has set in, and good lord my breasts are beginning to hurt.I think I was worried because I'm having cramping. Very similar to what I feel right before I get my period (which was due tomorrow). But from what I have read this normal.Anyways, I am so excited.
2/20/2011 9:14:51 AM
Well in that case--congratulations!
2/20/2011 10:16:32 AM
Thanks! I never thought I'd be excited about nausea and tender breasts, but here I am!
2/20/2011 10:24:31 AM
^4 You can have a false positive pregnancy test if your hCG levels are out of whack... but they're usually only out of whack if you've had certain infertility shots I think, or if you have a molar pregnancy. But, both of those are rare cases so the chances of having a false positive are low.^ Congrats!

Since we're posting nursery pics, I'll join in. We're pretty much finished, still have a few more finishing touches, some straitening up and some organization, but you can get the jist.I made the valences, wife + mom-in-law made the crib skirt and they sewed on the green ties on the bumper. Cross stitch nursery rhymes are from when my wife was born, and the peter rabbit prints are over 30 years old. I like the history and family ties, but I'm a softy anyway.Hopefully Jake will like his new digs, once his current lease expires in ~6 weeks!!
2/21/2011 8:57:13 AM
Oh man, sucks to say it but cramps are normal, totaleclipse. I've had them this whole pregnancy and my girl is healthy. It can be scary so make sure you tell your doc anyway. CONGRATS!
2/21/2011 4:33:42 PM
To add to that...I had cramps and spotting :-/ so just know that can happen too. Just tell your doc, and try not to let it freak you out (I was totally freaked).
2/21/2011 6:52:39 PM
Thanks all for the advice. The cramps were totally freaking me out.Question on exercise... is it ok to continue doing higher impact aerobics if I've been doing them? I want to ask doctor, but as ya'll know they won't see you until 8 weeks...
2/21/2011 7:33:37 PM
If it makes you feel any better, cramping can be a sign of the embryo implanting I would think continuing with your aerobics right now would be ok.. but not totally sure. Obviously just stay away from any alcohol, cigarettes, etc etc
2/21/2011 8:08:10 PM
I did high intensity aerobics (kick boxing, cardio pump/boot camp, cycling) and intense weight lifting up until 9 weeks and would have continued if my doc didn't tell me to stop bc I started to retain fluid in my legs, also mentioning that I have a high risk pregnancy. I was told for normal pregnant women (by my doctors and trainers) can do it past the second trimester as long as there is not jumping. Also, forgot to mention, your equilibrium will be way off so make sure you pay attention to you body's signals because you could fall over while doing your aerobics.[Edited on February 21, 2011 at 8:38 PM. Reason : Drink more water than you are used to drinking (if you can hold the pee pain, ha!)]

Update: We had our fetal echo-cardiogram last week. The good news was that he didn't see anything major out of place or missing, but he thought that he saw a hole between two chambers of the heart. We'll be going back in a month when she's a little bigger for him to take a better look. We're taking it in stride. My son had an ASD that closed up on its own by the time he was a year old and caused him 0 problems. Thanks for all those good thoughts! I'm 23 weeks now and I feel like I have been pregnant forever. She's so active and the heartburn is atrocious.
2/22/2011 10:28:04 PM
I THOUGHT I knew what tired was.... but man it's so hard to even get out of bed to go to work.
2/23/2011 7:23:20 AM
^^hope things cont to go well!^haha; I hear that
2/23/2011 12:24:54 PM
Mid afternoon naps are a MUST.
2/23/2011 1:53:08 PM
Girls, I want to die. I'm in my second trimester, but the nausea and vomiting has come back full force. I manged to keep down about 350 calories today -- not nearly enough. I feel so blah and weak. I want my mommy to come take care of me.
2/25/2011 8:06:39 PM
OMG! That sounds awful, bb. I hope you can get some relief. Here is a hug, I wish I could help more.
2/26/2011 12:07:36 AM
Nausea has never left here. Vomiting has subsided to completely random and surprising moments but it is violent. I hope yours passes again BB!
2/27/2011 4:44:06 PM
i've been taking these gummy vitamins for a while now bc the binding agent in regular multivitamins makes me immediately vomithttp://www.nwnaturalproducts.com/vitafusion/products-multi-vites.phpi bought the pre-natal ones the other day bc we want to maybe start trying this summer & i thought i'd be a good idea to just go ahead & get on them. http://www.nwnaturalproducts.com/vitafusion/products-prenatal.phpthey are absolutely NASTY to me. i would eat the regular ones like candy if i could. the prenatal ones taste like, idk, something horrible i can't pinpoint. i tried eating something immediately after but the first several bites of whatever food just taste like the vitamin too. so my question is can i just take double the regular ones to match the folic acid on the prenatals? i'm going to ask the obgyn when i have my annual exam later in march, but just thought i'd get yall's opinions.
2/28/2011 11:00:28 AM
Holy wow!! I shall call this time of my life appointment junction! I have 4-6 appts per week now! Balancing that, pregnancy, life, diet, heartburn, pain and school with no sleep is getting to me. Not to mention I have entered what is referred to in the life of a pregnant diabetic as pregnancy dawn. Complete insulin resistance in the morning (high sugars with no relief) with insulin sensitivity in the afternoon/evenings (diabetic lows). I am eating hardly any carbs and driving my endocrinologist insane. I would say this is a frustrating time of life for Ken and me.[Edited on February 28, 2011 at 12:02 PM. Reason : On a positive note, I have not gained weight in the past month and half.]
2/28/2011 11:47:30 AM
^2 I wouldn't take double the amount of the regular vitamins... Too much of any vitamin is a bad thing :\ Can you find a regular bottle of B9 (aka folate) in the store?^ Sorry love... is her stomach still growing faster than the rest of her body? I hope everything works out ok <3
3/1/2011 12:49:28 AM
about the vitamins, my endocrinologist just told me to stop taking prenatals (tmi bc of diarrhea) and my OB said to instead take two children's vitamins. I don't know if that is what is even being asked but that is something.Yeah, Sam, she is still growing too much in the stomach area. I am just so mad at my placenta for causing all these problems but I am soooooo grateful that I have (a) VERY healthy placenta to nourish this little girl.

Had the glucose test today and won't get the results back until tomorrow. That stuff is gross, and with nausea being worse in the morning, was a beast to drink. The doctor did add that my fundal height was measuring at 28 weeks instead of 25. When asked what that could mean, he just said "big baby".
3/1/2011 3:56:31 PM
hmmm....ashley_grl, keep us posted, please. I hate to say this but it kind of sounds like your test might be positive. ugh...maybe not. LET'S HOPE NOT!!!
3/1/2011 5:34:18 PM
Just FYI but my mom has been diabetic since she was like 8 and I was a 10lb baby and a month early. I also blame this for my larger than normal head. Not trying to scare you, just wanted to talk about my experience being a "big baby". [Edited on March 1, 2011 at 6:58 PM. Reason : also, first post in old school!]]
3/1/2011 6:57:32 PM
I know!! The "big baby" comment freaked me out since I was THERE getting my hour glucose screen. It is going to be a long wait until tomorrow for the results!!!!! And what sucks is not passing this routine test will lead to a 3 hour glucose screen at the hospital. I am hoping and praying for good results.[Edited on March 1, 2011 at 9:16 PM. Reason : rawr]
3/1/2011 9:15:09 PM
^ I had to take that glucose test (not for pregnancy reasons). The glucola truly does suck the big one.
3/1/2011 9:26:23 PM
I have never taken a glucose test but I wonder if it is like eating oral glucose gel. That shit is the nastiest stuff ever but it is damn straight for bringing my sugar back up from a low.
3/1/2011 9:58:38 PM
My wife *loved* the glucose test. 1 more month to go (hopefully not sooner).
3/2/2011 11:30:44 AM
Hmmm...I dunno if I'll get the glucose test this time around or the next one...I'll be 24 weeks next week for my appt, but in my 25th week. My OB tests btw 25 and 28...so maybe it'll be the appt after?? I dunno...guess I'll find out!But HO HUM do I have CRRRRRRRRAZY heartburn right now. Had it all night last night and pretty much all day today. I've eaten so many tums, but no relief yet. Also woke up this morning with the WORST leg cramp. I haven't had one in so long since I changed my caffeine intake that I forgot how painful those can be. I hope these two aren't the start of new fun pregnancy symptoms...but I know they are!
3/2/2011 6:31:52 PM
I had heartburn like nobody's business. I slept with a jumbo size bottle of Tums by my bed. Then one magical day, my doctor told me it was OK to take Zantac (I got the generic brand). Life was awesome after that. You know that wives' tale that if you have a lot of heartburn, your baby will have lots of hair? It turned out to be true for me.[Edited on March 2, 2011 at 9:08 PM. 3/2/2011 9:06:39 PM
Pregnancy picture from tonight. I am between 33/34 weeks and I can still wear my brown shirt! w00t!!!
3/2/2011 10:17:42 PM
Sooooooo....I failed the test. Now I get to endure the long 3 hour test at the hospital. Yay!
3/3/2011 4:33:57 PM
Bummer
3/3/2011 7:41:10 PM
^^ oh man I'm sorry. My SIL had to do that too.My morning sickness is so weird. If I don't eat I feel ok, but super hungry, then I eat and I feel nauseated and end up dry heaving/vomiting. So it's a cycle, eat, feel sick, feel better, get hungry, eat... over and over again. I knew I was pregnant when I threw up 3 times before even leaving the house yesterday. [Edited on March 5, 2011 at 11:54 AM. Reason : can't spell]
3/5/2011 11:53:32 AM
I did that for 2 weeks when I found out the hard way that I was allergic to morphine after a surgery. I ate just a little handful of plain cheerios every so often to keep something in my stomach so I didn't get so hungry that it made me even more nauseated. Ymmv
3/6/2011 11:04:09 AM
