Aside from that one four game series in 2008 I feel that we play awful at MIL.

Looks like the Mets drafted on ceiling instead of safe for once. Nimmo hasn't even played HS ball (Wyoming doesn't play HS ball), but from what I've read he has huge tools and projection and is demanding $3M or twice the slot recommendation...

I'll be psyched if Cory Mazzoni breaks into the bigs with the Mets. I liked having John Maine on the team since he was a Charlotte guy but this would be even better.

Lots of good things from tonight's game. Capuano was in the zone, Reyes hit another tripple (this one won the game), and Beltran's leg seems fine.

K-Rod is going to make bank on his option (iirc he only has to finish out 55 games or so and he's already in the mid twenties).

We are in that danger zone between competing and not. If we get healthy this team can win and compete for a wild card but banking on that risks getting nothing out of Beltran (he has a no arbitration clause) and having to pay Frankie $17.5M.

Difficult situation for Sandy. Good thing he and Wilpon have one easy decision -- PAYING JOSE REYES WHAT HE WANTS!

If Wright and Davis are still batting well when they get back, I'm fine losing Beltran.

We really need a more reliable starter, we won't win shit with that rotation.

There's absolutely no reason not to trade Beltran. He's producing and that makes him your only valuable piece. Either way, the Mets are going to be paying his 2011 salary in full, might as well get something for the future.

It means we can't get draft picks if he leaves, so even more incentive to move him

I'm familiar with compensatory picks, I just didn't realize that skipping arbitration was written into his contract. Never heard of that.

Capuano has pitched well his last 2 games...hopefully a sign of things to come.

Reyes has 2 hits so far today...I believe I saw where that gives him 33 multi-hit games this year (65 games). Please sign him!

Mets are 6-2 in the last 8 games...if you average out the Pirates, Braves, and Brewers that's pretty damn good.

7-4 so far in June.

Our pitching (both starting and relief) has been doing a good job lately. Over the last 10 games (7-3 record) opponents have scored 22 total runs (including unearned). You'll win a lot of games giving up 2.2 runs per.

Every Mets player was commenting on how they had never seen anything like that on a dry night. Gamesmanship happens, but no, that specifically does NOT happen all the time.

Its similar to the hoopla of the SC-ND game a few years back with the long grass.

Reyes is setting the standard on what to do in a contract year. Outside of HRs, SBs, and RBIs he is way above any career high in every major stat category. The HRs and RBIs aren't what he's paid to do anyway and he is still on pace for 50+ SBs.

Someone is going to overpay him the offseason. Plus he's 28 which is pretty much the peak year for many athletes. He's definitely having an MVP season, but this season is turning into a Adrian Beltre, Javy Lopez, or Luis Gonzalez type year for him (i.e. good player who has one ridiculous outlier season).

A little bit of that, yes.. but he is a player that everyone on earth predicted to be a mega-star and this is his first healthy season since age 25. So it's not out of the realm of possibility that this is who he is (not to this degree obviously) more or less. He's in his mental and physical prime and putting it all together.

As always the issue with Reyes will be sustaining his early/mid season play through September and staying healthy. He has a tendency to beat himself up so bad on the basepaths that he regresses as he tires down the stretch.
