apologies if i missed it in the thread already, but i'm reading on IMDB that Carell is out of the show early? also some "spoilers" in the link below too, no idea if they're true.http://www.imdb.com/news/ni6882173/

Good. Now he has more time to make great movies like "Dan in Real Life" and "Evan Almighty".

I really want to see Jim become the boss. I think the show would be better about a (somewhat) normal guy dealing with his crazy staff than a crazy staff dealing with a lunatic boss.
1/15/2011 10:36:45 AM
nothey already tried it and it sucked. It takes away the best part of the show, the Jim/Dwight fight for authority and playing pranks on each other.I'd like to see a new character as boss[Edited on January 15, 2011 at 10:50 AM. Reason : .]

creed.(for an episode)
1/15/2011 11:34:50 AM
It failed because Michael was still boss while Jim was a manager. Jim on his own would be fine, and i think it gives a new level to the dwight/jim rivalry. An episode letting them take turns being boss would be interesting...especially if Creed, Angela, Kevin, or Stanley got a turn

I hope Jim doesn't take over. Like I said this summer.
1/17/2011 12:24:55 PM
Definitely agree. I'm still waiting to see what happens with Carell leaving. I am definitely in the group of people that think "the first 3 seasons were >>> all the other seasons," but I still tune in to the show fairly regularly out of habit because I have watched it for so long. The switch will pretty much have two outcomes for me:1) It refreshes the show and is actually worth my time to watch again2) If it isn't any better or is actually worse it gives me a good point to just stop watching completely
1/17/2011 12:29:49 PM
Please God, no Andy as boss. Please! And I still like it for what it is. A half hour that I get a few chuckles out of -- but I don't really care about the big picture story-lines anymore...
1/17/2011 12:44:12 PM
Based on what Gervais said I'm guessing Andy or one of the guest speakers at his small business seminar on the 27th
1/17/2011 1:24:13 PM
Kelly should be office manager.
1/17/2011 1:31:48 PM
Hahaha it would be awesome if Ricky Gervais made an appearance as David Brent.

Does that count as death throes?
1/19/2011 4:24:29 PM
how is jim (or Andy, really) fit to be the boss? I thought one of the running gags throughout the seasons were that he really didn't care about the job...Michael's flaws are well-documented, but I always imagined he actually worked hard in his younger years to become branch manager.
1/20/2011 6:01:55 AM
^Uh well Jim was co-manager for a while. That's a pretty good indication. That there is a lot of evidence that shows that even though Michael is a fairly incompetent boss, he was a really good salesman.
1/20/2011 9:16:00 AM
It is time. The hour is nearly upon us.
1/20/2011 9:34:31 AM
Yeah Jim becoming co-manager didn't really make a lot of sense to me either since I remember him being outward about his apathetic attitude towards the job. His demeanor seems too ho-hum/non-schalant to be upper management. I don't know if it's a huge plot point and I guess I'm overanalyzing, but the show used to be well-written and not have low-rent stuff happening like Michael spanking Andy.
1/20/2011 11:12:34 AM
In one of the earlier seasons Jim finally resigned himself to staying with Dunder Mifflin and then had been angling for a management type position. It was probably about the time he came back to the Scranton branch. The only reason he's not still a manager (besides being terrible at it) is because he figured out that he could make more money as a salesman when compared to the flat rate of a manager.
1/20/2011 11:16:42 AM
Jim is not a good candidate for management because he'll never take to DM as more than a paycheck.... though I would maybe say he's a little bit more ambitious now than he was in the beginning. Season 1: "Right now, this is just a job. If I advance any higher in this company, then this would be my career. And, well, if this were my career? I'd have to throw myself in front of a train. "Season 2:"So this possible client they're talking about--actually a big deal. It's Lackawanna county. Our whole county. And if we get this, they might not have to downsize our branch. And I could work here for years...and years.......and........years. "

tonight's episode was hilarious. best one in a while.
1/20/2011 9:28:35 PM
definitely one of the season's stronger episodes
1/20/2011 9:29:38 PM
The Michael vs Michael dance-off was hilarious.
1/20/2011 9:42:55 PM
loved Kevin giving the finger to Holly
1/21/2011 8:16:48 AM
Haha all the bleeped cussing tonight was hilarious. Great Creed moments, great Kevin, it was awesome.
1/21/2011 8:20:23 AM
Where was Jim this whole episode, other than the intro?
1/21/2011 9:56:19 AM
No Hits. Just the Deep Tracks.........I SAID NO HITS
1/21/2011 11:05:26 AM
One of my favorite recent episodes

1/22/2011 1:46:36 PM
If he has "grown up", it has to only have occurred in the last two seasons. In season 5 he was still doing shit like:"Good... but is it classy enough?"
1/26/2011 2:57:34 PM
some might say that was actually THE day he started growing up when Stringer Bell showed up and he was in danger of losing his job
1/26/2011 7:18:52 PM
they need to get rid of holly & pam
1/26/2011 7:21:02 PM
Get ready for yelling!!!Will Ferrell is joining the show for a storyline.http://www.tvline.com/2011/01/exclusive-the-office-hires-will-ferrell/#more-187111
1/26/2011 7:57:06 PM
That's dumb. How the hell is he going to be a believable character (not like it matters at this point).^^ I still like Pam a bit. She's actually been ok this season.
1/26/2011 8:43:18 PM
^^ oh wow. that's pretty impressive hire
1/27/2011 11:56:45 AM
ugh i hate will ferrell.I'm AstralAdvent and i approved this message.

What the hell was up with that Ricky Gervais cameo. It was like he was playing a more offensive, British version of Michael. So unoriginal.
1/27/2011 9:10:41 PM
yes, pretty lame
1/27/2011 9:39:31 PM
i thought it was a solid episode. I hope Gervais stays off the show though. I guess keeping Jim out of the picture is to build up the secondary characters for the new direction
1/27/2011 9:52:16 PM
lol at Kevin
1/27/2011 10:18:26 PM
I don't even know what that episode was about. Real estate? Small business seminar? Selling paper? This show is such a damn mess, trying to go in a thousand different directions.Confident Pam sucks so bad, Jim and Dwight are neutered, no one gives a fuck about Stanley or Phyllis, they made Kevin funny for like two episodes, they're overusing Andy and underusing Darryl, Michael's characters always have been and always will be annoying as shit. They need to kill off half the cast and focus on plots that aren't scatterbrained. Maybe the writers can watch Parks and Rec and remember how to write a tight, coherent episode.Erin's but-seriously-is-that-you-Michael reaction was the only funny bit last night, but her airheadedness is starting to get played out.[Edited on January 28, 2011 at 10:51 AM. Reason : okay, Creed's Loch Ness Monster was good too]
1/28/2011 10:48:58 AM
I am starting to suspect the season finale will end up with the police finding a family in Gabe's freezer.
1/28/2011 10:57:55 AM
Creed yelling CREED when they broke and Karl getting off the floor to finish his speech were the best parts
