this is gonna rule

I have no idea why they're airing this at 2 instead of live.To make it worse, they're airing an infomercial by this dude that wants you to believe that Jesus wants you to be rich.
9/29/2013 1:03:30 AM
NOT LIKE THEY HAVE ANY LOCAL TIES OR ANYTHING, NBC17
9/29/2013 1:04:51 AM
That was delightfully weird and awesome.
9/29/2013 1:32:04 AM
well that was perfect
9/29/2013 2:36:11 AM
I wouldn't call it perfect, only because I think there was a little too much "WE HAVE FAMOUS FRIENDS NOW!"But it was really good, and Franco asking for Wyld Stallyns was just tip top.
9/29/2013 4:45:16 AM
true, but at least they used them in semi-interesting ways
9/29/2013 12:03:25 PM
the first time i watched it, i was like the second time, i was pretty impressed that they've continued to remain wacky despite their "famous friends". tour dates please.
9/29/2013 4:01:29 PM
Just heard one of the songs from the new album and wow this band has completely shit the bed and mailed it in. I thought the Suburbs was weak but that reflector song or whatever it is called was so awful.I am just going to pretend they stopped writing music after Neon Bible.
10/13/2013 11:11:37 PM
Obvious troll is obvious.Hate it if you want, but the idea that they're mailing it in is a very silly suggestion.
10/14/2013 12:37:05 AM
Yeah, even if the album is absolutely horrible (which from everything I've heard it won't be), they are doing the exact opposite of "mailing it in", as they have with every album. They clearly aren't interested in revisiting old sounds; every album has been very different from its predecessors.
10/14/2013 12:43:42 AM
"Hey guys, thinking about mailing it in.""Some three chord pop songs about love?""Nah, 12-piece extended synth grooves with a full horn section. Regine's gonna sing inside a giant prism. You know, mindless shit."
10/14/2013 1:38:17 AM
It's not even about them going back to the same sounds, when I heard their songs pre suburbs it was like, wow that was really creative, what an amazing work if art. Whereas now it is more like, wow that sounds like they just threw together the first thing they thought if to create a song knowing people would still buy it and defend it as artistic. Not very surprising, they are hardly the first band to really blow up and then have the creativeness of their music disappear.
10/14/2013 9:16:27 AM
well this spot-on evaluation of one song from the new record changes everything. guess i should call up merge and cancel my preorder. i wouldn't want to defend it as being artistic.
10/14/2013 12:50:46 PM
lol, don't get pissy because people have a different opinion than you, I don't really give two shits if people like their new music or not
10/14/2013 1:08:31 PM
Eh, there's a point to be made about judging a record by the pre-release single. If "(Antichrist Television Blues)" had been the promo track for Neon Bible, you could easily write it off as a Springsteen mimic record.
10/14/2013 1:37:11 PM
I thought the suburbs was a pretty weak album too so that is why when this song doesn't do much for me it hardly gives me much confidence in the rest of it.
10/14/2013 2:44:28 PM
i'm willing to take james murphy's word that it's a pretty great record, which he has already indicated. not that he'd say it's shit after he worked on it as a producer or anything, but you know
10/14/2013 3:35:38 PM
every song we've heard so far has been good to great, as have the snippets of othersHere Comes The Night Time, for fucks sake[Edited on October 14, 2013 at 4:12 PM. Reason : always bet with Murphy]
10/14/2013 4:11:30 PM
Here Comes the Night Time is fucking great. Both parts.
10/14/2013 7:20:44 PM
They're playing in Brooklyn Friday and Saturday. Hoping to go if they ever announce where and how to get in. Haven't seen them since the Obama shows in NC and it would be amazing to see them in a small venue again.
10/14/2013 9:27:20 PM
the Reflektors will be on Colbert tonight

bands/labels are getting better about itoh well, pretty sure it'll be shipping out tomorrow/Friday at the latest I wasn't planning on listening to a leak, anyways
10/23/2013 9:17:19 PM
Some store in Ireland was selling it today even, though apparently they got a call from the label pretty quickly.
10/23/2013 9:21:59 PM

The only thing I can think about when I hear "We Exist" is shitty ass baby boomers. I could be way off but that is my takeaway.
10/25/2013 11:00:31 AM
album sounds fucking awesomethe stream wasn't doing it any favors (shocking, I know)
10/26/2013 4:45:17 PM
when does this shit come outI preordered it on iTunes
10/26/2013 5:19:56 PM
Tuesdaybut some album orders were shipped yesterday
10/26/2013 5:20:42 PM
what's the exact opposite of "mailing it in"?
10/28/2013 1:55:42 PM
yeah, it's good.
10/28/2013 5:28:04 PM
the sequencing on the first half is different on the vinyl. "we exist" is the 4th track instead of the 2nd. probably just so they could fit everything on two LPs easier or something.
10/28/2013 7:05:58 PM
The Suburbs has different vinyl sequencing, too, but the times are almost identical on that one so it's not for space concerns. Maybe they just like messing with it.
10/28/2013 7:16:47 PM
i think "normal person" works better after "we exist" than after "here comes the night time"turns out the two songs i pegged as my favorites over the weekend were the ones mixed by james murphy. nice.[Edited on October 28, 2013 at 7:35 PM. Reason : .]

damn
10/29/2013 12:20:01 PM
Hyden didn't like it either(but admits he wasn't sold on Funeral until more than a few listens)
10/29/2013 12:26:29 PM
I love it so far.Yeah, wow. It's Never Over (Hey Orpheus) might be their best song ever.[Edited on October 29, 2013 at 2:29 PM. Reason : :]
10/29/2013 2:21:56 PM
"Normal Person" is really terrible. The rest is nice. Also, "Awful Sound" is "November Rain." Straight up.[Edited on October 29, 2013 at 5:47 PM. Reason : 3]
10/29/2013 5:35:38 PM
you could shit on literally any album the way that guy from the post did by pulling lyrics out of context and making them sound stupid. dude is a troll. i think a lot of arcade fire fans would acknowledge the fact that win butler isn't the greatest songwriter. keep on reaching for that low-hanging fruit though.
10/29/2013 6:50:02 PM
^Basically. Chris Richards is pretty awful so I don't care too much. He is one of the worst music journalists to regularly be in mass publication. If you read more than one thing he's written, he falls really hard on this "They're not cool, in the sense that they're too cool" attitude. You know that's his angle if he critiques a song or album by saying something isn't sexy or stylish. Honestly those are like trigger words for a tidal wave of douchetasm.
