^^I'm really curious to see what you think about it. I've always seen them as number one on citysearh every year and it has been highly recommended by friends and fellow foodies but I've never managed to make it out there though it's definitely on my list of places to try soon. I'll try to see if you post on it on this thread in the next few days

We'll see, not sure if it's going to be dinner tomorrow or on the 30th. I'll report back when I do. I'll also have a review on Yelp*.*brought to you by Yelp Triangle, NC.

^ Man ain't that the truth. It really annoys me when I see a sushi restaurant charging $texas and every single one of their damn rolls has mayo as a part of it. The other day I saw a menu where one of the rolls had TWO types of mayo in it

cream cheese on sushi
1/18/2011 6:21:26 PM

i don't order thatbut that is what, in my experience, people LOVE about sono. good specialty rolls. specialty rolls are not my thing. i don't want "good" specialty rolls. therefore, i do not eat there. i stick to places where what i like is consistently good. *shrug* can't help it if i had a bad experience there! but again, i'm not the only one.i think the hate is just TWW's normal response to someone who continues to praise something they don't like haha...i mean...it is TWW.and it isn't really hate. i'm glad there is a downtown sushi restaurant that EVERYONE who is anyone loves. i like seeing business in dtown raleigh. my opinion of the place just happens to be negative, that is all. everyone has things/places they don't like for a variety of reasons.[Edited on January 18, 2011 at 11:12 PM. Then maybe I need to start making baseless statements about Waraji, because the Sono hate is again baseless and ridiculous. And there hasn't been "praise" within TWW, outside of my level-headed plea for reason and proper culinary assessment, granted it's probably not the best place to expect that.I understand what you're trying to say about your experience, but your experience wasn't bad, Sono just has things you don't like. That doesn't degrade the content of the food that is offered, it's your issue. You don't go to a vegan restaurant and say how awful it is because you hate vegan food, that's your fault, not theirs, it doesn't reflect at all on them. The criticism you have offered simply has no bearing on any actual culinary ability, and your assessment of what people love about Sono seems pretty hollow considering the only defense it's received in this thread had nothing to do with specialty rolls. It's fine for you to not like Sono's wares, but you're only contributed negatively to the discussion here by treating it condescendingly. That is my concern.[Edited on January 18, 2011 at 11:17 PM. Is the Sono vs. other sushi places the new BBQ debate?I'm going to Tasu on Friday night.
1/19/2011 7:52:40 AM
Go where you like people! Sheesh.... Personally I'm a nigri and sashimi fan
1/19/2011 9:54:35 AM

Netstorm needs to calm the fuck downjesus manget over yourself
1/21/2011 4:44:19 PM
Tasu is 45 minutes from my house...so that's out. oh well i'll get sushi some other night. i'm too cheap to pay full price for as much as my wife and I eat
1/21/2011 4:46:14 PM
Sushi Thai and Sushi Nine both have BOGO all the time.[Edited on January 21, 2011 at 4:47 PM. Reason : ST on Lake Boone, not Cary]
1/21/2011 4:47:17 PM
I just called Sushi Thai and asked about that and the lady said no... is it only Raleigh or also the one in cary? I called cary
1/21/2011 4:48:06 PM
Raleigh only
1/21/2011 4:49:10 PM
Asuka in Morrisville does BOGO free but I think its only on a select few of their rollshttp://www.asukajapan.com/xe/so excited for Tasu tonight. Going with my bff from high school
1/21/2011 4:57:11 PM
I'm happy to report that the sushi at Mirage is pretty good. It's not on par with Shiki Sushi or Sushi Thai, but still quite tasty.
1/24/2011 11:00:58 AM
went to Waraji last night and had what was probably one of the best Japanese dining experiences of my life. I had nigiri salmon, shrimp and tuna (with undyed ginger I might add), a ginger salad that was fantastic and had a really nice tang to it, really great miso soup, and to top it off SUKIYAKI. in-fucking-credible.
2/9/2011 5:19:54 PM
I will post my full review of Waraji soon, because I've totally been ignoring Jen's PMs on how it went. It's a very good review. Had some great food. Some drawbacks. Some comparisons will be drawn. The hamachi kama wins Best Appetizer Ever Devised though.
2/9/2011 5:28:20 PM
I'll have to try it. I'm definitely going back soon to try some more things, I didn't have much time when I went last night. I miss Kuki (out of business) but this is the next best thing. Want to try shaba shabu next time.
2/9/2011 5:35:46 PM
We tried out Sushi 9 - while not the best sushi, I was still pleasantly surprised by the quality, and overly surprised by the atmosphere... when you walk inside, it feels like you were transported to a place on glenwood or off fayetteville stit is pretty much the same menu as Sushi Tai, with some slight differences (at least in the sushi). Most rolls (specialty at least) are between 9-13 bucks, but they are always BOGO so you can eat for pretty cheap thereI will eat there again
4/20/2011 8:27:50 AM
yeah, i enjoyed sushi 9 for what it is
4/20/2011 8:28:44 AM
Sushi 9 is on Western, correct? I recently tried Sushi O. I enjoyed it and will be back.
4/20/2011 8:28:56 AM
Yup- where Ten-Ten used to be (which honestly threw me off for a month or so), but I'm glad I finally tried it
4/20/2011 8:30:01 AM
is TASU open at crossroads yet!? their website hasn't been updated in forever and i can't find a phone number for it
4/20/2011 8:31:57 AM
i don't even like sushi and i want to go back to sushi 9...the have really cold beer and good pad thai
4/20/2011 8:32:21 AM
haha Lindsey actually commented about wondering how their Pad Thai was... I couldn't go to a sushi place and not get the sushi though I mean, I can get a small ginger salad or soup and an app, but I gotta have dem rolls and fish slivers on rice!
4/20/2011 8:34:06 AM
well it's really easy for me...cause i hate sushi but i do love the spicy tuna stuff they put on top of one of the rolls...i would get that shit on the side like ranch
4/20/2011 8:37:44 AM
They have really good Chicken & Rice too. mmmmmmmmm
4/20/2011 8:38:41 AM
Lindsey got a roll covered in that spicy tuna junk- very good stuff! made a mess though!I had to get the fried bagel roll (cheating, I know, but it is too good not to get!)- almost as good as it is at sushi thai, but they needed to put more eel sauce and sesame seeds on it
4/20/2011 8:40:19 AM
i did eat something that was good...it tasted like a cream puff
4/20/2011 8:41:50 AM
Don't ever get sashimi at Tasu. It was good but a complete ripoff compared to other places.
4/20/2011 8:45:09 AM
what are the best lunch specials for sushi? any all you can eat?and what about a good sushi place near fuquay/holly springs/cary...seems like most of the ones y'all talk about are in raleigh/north raleigh/briar creek, etc...[Edited on April 20, 2011 at 8:50 AM. Reason : yea]
4/20/2011 8:46:16 AM
there is an all you can eat place out in Morrisville somewhere that I hear is i pretty good (never been though)...Sono and Haru both have good lunch time deals (I can leave full for ~12-15 bucks, and I go nuts on some sushi)^^^hell, that coulda been the fried bagel roll- the sweetness of the eel sauce and gooeyness of the cream cheese does make it kinda taste like a cream puff[Edited on April 20, 2011 at 8:51 AM. Reason : and it is dericious ]
4/20/2011 8:49:59 AM
what about in garner/holly springs/fuquay/cary area?don't have time to go all the way to raleigh or north
4/20/2011 8:50:48 AM
is sanford too far away? cause there is an all you can eat place down there that is supposed to be pretty good (if it didn't get blown away)
4/20/2011 8:52:13 AM
yeah unfortunately that's a little far
4/20/2011 8:54:26 AM
yeah, I just can't think of any good sushi places in those areas- I mean, I'm sure you can find some great sushi in cary, but the prices might be a bit steephell, keep an eye out on that Tasu place in crossroads- I've never been, but everyone says the one in Briar Creek is awesome
4/20/2011 8:56:16 AM
All you can eat sushi kind of grosses me out
4/20/2011 8:56:46 AM
Sushi 9 is pretty damn good, and the prices are nice too.
