the "blue eyed" bad guys in the northern forest on that trailer weren't like I had imagined from reading the books... the rest looks great though
4/11/2011 12:10:35 AM
I'm pretty excited about the happenings on the Wall. the Jon Snow arc was my favorite one to read, pretty badass shit going on there when the rest of the kingdom was bitching about the throne. ]
4/11/2011 2:06:12 AM
agreed to both ^, ^^
4/11/2011 8:07:51 AM
did anyone else imagine the blue eyed beings to look more like burnes when he was radioactive and on pain pills wondering through the forest of springfield than what they portrayed in the show?

Spoiler AlertDon't know if this has been posted or not:http://www.salon.com/entertainment/tv/feature/2011/04/09/game_of_thrones_primer/index.htmlGood guide if you've already read the books and want to catch back up without re-reading them.
4/11/2011 6:06:43 PM
I imagined the white walkers looking kind of like the movie version of Voldemort but with blue eyes and even paler/less human. And BTW that was never how I pictured Voldemort.
4/11/2011 6:11:45 PM
Voldermort would've been a lot more scary looking if they weren't catering to a PG audienceI'm talking super scary, like a pig snout for a nose and human assholes for eyes
4/11/2011 6:31:40 PM
I imagined them having deader eyes, not just blue contacts... more like the bodies in the dead marshes in lotr, just with a blue tint instead of white
4/11/2011 9:55:33 PM
I got that Weather App

good link. I actually just finished reading that a few minutes ago. I'm interested to gauge the reactions here after the first few episodes. Mainly I'll be interested to see difference in opinion from readers of the series vs non-readers. I know the non-readers posting here are fewer in number but I know there are a couple.[Edited on April 13, 2011 at 2:57 PM. Reason : .]

non-reader here
4/13/2011 3:17:01 PM
cool. I believe Pikey is as well.
4/13/2011 3:25:33 PM
Heard good things about this series, books 1-4 are on the way. Should I read all 4 before I watch or are they only focusing on the first book?
4/13/2011 5:12:09 PM
The scope of season 1 = book 1. The scope of the entire show (should it run the full course) is to cover ~1 book per season. (ie season 2 = book 2, season 3 = book 3). Realistically there will be some overlapping or an extra season or two being added or some brushing over/cutting out of certain aspects as needed due to the long narrative to complete it that way though. Who knows if they'll get that far though. One can hope. The name of the show is confusing since it shares its name with the first book, but that was just a change of style (and a good one) to downplay the fantasy and promote the political aspect.[Edited on April 13, 2011 at 5:17 PM. 4/13/2011 5:14:11 PM
They are only focusing on the first book.
4/13/2011 5:14:42 PM
Seriously though, are they going to change the name of the show every season? Or will it be like multiple "separate" miniseries?
4/13/2011 7:31:43 PM
They will Just keep the series name. In the Grand scheme of things it's really a non issue.

4/13/2011 11:00:06 PM
4/14/2011 7:53:48 AM
WTF is up with the spoilers dude.No one wants to see that shit.
4/14/2011 11:01:42 AM
It has nothing to do with the plot!Still! Still! I like to go in fresh!
4/14/2011 11:26:43 AM
4/14/2011 12:01:47 PM
esme bianco does burlesque...and vampires, apparently
4/14/2011 12:33:29 PM
How can you say it has nothing to do with the plot? Stating how an episode starts, especially when it involves two characters interacting with one another in a certain way, sure as hell gives away the plot.
4/14/2011 1:11:32 PM
I deleted it.
4/14/2011 1:26:55 PM
HBO has put up an interactive map (you have to zoom all the way in to interact with the cities) as well as a guide to the different major houses so far:http://viewers-guide.hbo.com/game-of-thrones/
4/15/2011 4:54:46 PM
Jesus christ, ads for this are blowing up everywhere. They certainly aren't taking the Fox approach to handling nerd shows.
4/16/2011 1:23:16 PM
i am so fucking pumped for this
4/16/2011 1:25:26 PM

4/16/2011 8:51:47 PM
those features on the website helping you keep track of everything is pretty useful for those who haven't read the books, I like it
4/16/2011 9:54:26 PM
I purchased HBO just to watch this.
4/17/2011 9:08:57 AM
4/17/2011 12:18:54 PM
^^ dittoIt seems like they arent, but I am just worried they are going to dumb it down for TV
4/17/2011 7:08:21 PM
^did you watch The Wirei'd be concerned if this was on any station other than HBO
4/17/2011 7:47:24 PM
no, never heard of it. Aside from sports, news, and documentaries I dont really watch TV
4/17/2011 7:51:13 PM
How does HBO even determine whether a show is profitable or worth renewing?[Edited on April 17, 2011 at 7:54 PM. Reason : ]
4/17/2011 7:54:01 PM
yeah check out deadwood if you think hbo dumbs anything down, I'd argue deadwood was actually more violent and evil than most of the movie westerns
4/17/2011 8:46:39 PM
I didnt mean violence as much as cutting out a lot of the details and characters
4/17/2011 9:01:04 PM
I have no idea what this shit is but I dig it, this is the first episode right?
4/17/2011 9:10:03 PM
