^^The new M5 (and all 5 series for that matter) has a huge nose. That should make it pretty easy to tell them apart. Personally I think the 5 series looks a lot like the 7 Series (doesn't hurt that they share the same platform), partially b/c it's larger than some previous gen 7 Series.

I give it a solid "heh"
5/2/2011 10:30:27 AM
The next M3 to have a V6? Say it ain't so
5/23/2011 12:40:45 PM
Although it would be real pathetic for them to use a modified n54, as a 335 owner I would be excited of the prospects of scavenging it to improve my cars performance.
5/23/2011 5:18:27 PM
WTF, just one year of production for the 1 Series M? Why did they bother at all?
5/24/2011 4:26:59 PM
dumb
5/24/2011 4:49:22 PM
http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/2417691114.htmlIt would be really neat to have....but.....why the hell would someone actually buy it?
6/6/2011 12:34:52 AM
yeah i mean i know the e46 is heavier but.... its close enough...
6/6/2011 9:40:37 AM
w00t! I was worried when I got my 2003 325i that it would be a gas hog. I averaged 32.9 mpg yesterday coming back from Hendersonville, TN. Drove 80-85mph the entire way too. This is even significantly better than my 4cyl 2003 Honda Accord....I think the best I ever got was 29mpg on the highway.
6/6/2011 10:09:11 AM
While the e46 was received well here, it wasn't quite as big a leap in Europe. I personally would much rather have an e36 EVO (320hp) than an e46 M3. That said, I wouldn't spend over $20k to get one (nor would I have to, $15k or so should pick up a decent example w/the 320hp motor and a few other parts like floating rotors). But then again if I'm spending that much, there is the 996.
6/6/2011 11:20:36 AM
6/6/2011 11:39:16 AM
These were gas pump calculations. My car computer told me I was getting 33.4mpg. Not far off from my actual calculation of 32.9
6/6/2011 11:49:51 AM
So I test drove a 2008 335i convertible yesterday. It was simply brilliant! I have never driven anything like this! I was doing 100 in a 55 without even realizing it. Handling felt like the thing was on rails. Had a couple of thoughts though. Can the clutch travel be adjusted? it felt like a little more than normal. I haven't driven the auto version yet. Do any of you know how that compares to the manual? does it shift quicker?
6/19/2011 10:46:58 AM
depends how quickly you shift.
6/19/2011 12:30:12 PM
Don't buy an automatic 3 series. Also, don't do 100 in a 55.

^^ i thought you hated 335s after yours dropped you off in the middle of nowhere a few times? i'm interested to see what this next m5 brings in the way of aftermarket. If someone could crack a bimmer ECU for open source tuning it would be siiiick.
7/12/2011 1:21:55 PM
rumor is that the next gen m3 will be tri-turbo
7/12/2011 4:33:39 PM
7/12/2011 5:35:35 PM
when the 335i, 135i, and 535i stop eating fuel pumps and injectors....i might consider buying one.
7/12/2011 6:01:53 PM
how did your i4 accord get that crappy mpg on the highway?
7/12/2011 7:47:16 PM
7/13/2011 3:22:01 AM
^^ I have a 2000 i4 Accord and the best I've ever gotten on the highway is 30
7/13/2011 3:44:32 AM
I don't know about tri turbo... two turbos and an electric supercharger... maybe... people seem to forget that turbos require turbines... otherwise they're just compressors or superchargers.
7/13/2011 8:00:47 AM
lettuce make things more complicated and pretend we never have to actually fix them

7/13/2011 9:39:13 AM
people who buy bimmers new usually only buy them for 3-4 years of use and all of that will be covered under warranty. i guess "who cares" is their plan to deal with it.

7/13/2011 1:33:47 PM
the 07 335 i just bought did injectors and puel pump at 8k miles. nothing since. 40k on it now. i hope that means it wont again.
7/16/2011 7:55:47 PM
Speaking of "BMW yay"....I finally get my M3 back from the shop today after an unfortunate incident with a deers head.

i swear to god is there anything you post that isn't a repost from some other lame content blog?
7/31/2011 12:22:52 AM
i am sorry for posting a link to a youtube video about the m5 in a thread about bmw's sports cars if you want to watch it, click it, otherwise, ignore it by keeping your mouth closed.
7/31/2011 12:41:08 AM
I'm thinking about buying an e30 325 coupe in a couple of months.that or a e46 m3]
8/1/2011 12:38:31 AM
^^^^ maybe its my speakers but it sounds like its farting.
8/1/2011 10:26:20 AM
How could you be cross shopping an e46 m3 and an e30 325?
8/1/2011 12:26:18 PM
i had the same thought... however i would spend up to 12k on each lol...
8/1/2011 12:57:00 PM
i can afford the e46 m3, but i don't know if i want to right now. Getting the e30 gives me a lot more spending money and could still be really badass if done properalthough i'm having more difficulty than expected finding an e30 on the market i'd want.]
8/1/2011 5:00:30 PM
i bought the cobb tuner for my 335 and i could not be happier. 800 bucks well spent. so far i am really loving this car. thinking about taking it to get dynoed this weekend as i would like to see what it really is.
8/1/2011 9:01:39 PM
Phatron on nasioc has a pretty good custom tune for the bimmers iirc
8/1/2011 9:52:52 PM
Stone,There are dyno graphs on e90post.com, but with 93 octane you are probably looking at 310-325whp and 360-390wtq.http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=532962
8/3/2011 2:44:06 AM
i ordered an ic, cai, and dp's this weekend while on vacation. i have a scheduled service visit tuesday because the warranty ends friday. i have a non factory extended service plan that is good for another 4 years and 80k miles so after my bmw visit it will be time to install the new goodies. i pretty much plan on leaving said items on and going indy shop for any small service items and pay out of pocket. should i have catastrophic failure goodies off and stock stuff back on then off to the dealer. i hope to put close to 380 to the ground with these 3 items but still be dd comfortable.

Too bad Cobb's dragging their feet with stage 2.[Edited on August 8, 2011 at 2:58 PM. Reason : ]
8/8/2011 2:57:06 PM
yeah i think they're worried about reliability.
8/8/2011 4:27:38 PM
i dont think it will be to long for cobb to put out stage 2. i will be impatiently waiting.
8/9/2011 11:44:38 AM
if they get access tuner race to work on bimmers... i'll buy a 335 very soon.
