I've heard good things about the Focus. If anyone is interested in the Surround or Quantum, you can get them for $0.01 this weekend through Amazon. http://www.engadget.com/2010/11/12/htc-surround-and-lg-quantum-available-for-0-01-at-amazon-this-w/Not a bad deal if that's the models you're interested in

My co-worker has a Focus and I really like it.
11/13/2010 3:22:04 PM
I am seriously considering picking a Focus up for funsies. I use my iPhone 4 day to day, I bought a Captivate to try android and its okay, but not a replacement for the iPhone. Maybe WP7 will be the awesome?

Sweet! Its been hard holding off getting a WP7 but I just can't leave VZW for AT&T or TMobile.

played with the samsung quantum. it's a nice phone, but not quite nice enough to live with for 2 years. i will be buying a dell venue pro off contract whenever it is available.

did you get one early or something?p.s. in addition to noen's suggestion, you can browse wp7 apps with bing visual search http://www.bing.com/browse?g=wp7#toc=1[Edited on December 27, 2010 at 3:30 PM. Reason : still loving mine. got a few complaints of course, but definitely a lot to look forward to]

Yeah, I went into the AT&T store today to ask about my options and after discussing how unhappy I was with my iPhone and how, even if fixed (since I had AppleCare), I had no desire to ever use it again the guy helped me out.Basically, I'm currently both super happy with the Focus and AT&T at the moment.

I've been told off the record by sprint that they will go on sale at the end of February, and that verizon will go on sale in April or May at their current pace.I'm dead set on sprint now after seeing their family plans (1500min, unlimited text and data for two phones for 100/mo)
12/27/2010 8:03:26 PM
an no cell coverage in obvious places like on the interstate, but two floors underground in a sub basement.... FULL BARS! (at-least that's my experience with sprint)
12/27/2010 8:29:34 PM
Sprint is now CDMA and roams on verizons full network, so that is no longer a problem.
12/27/2010 10:13:48 PM
i wish someone other than dell was making the venue pro. then it wouldnt be a piece of shit and it would be ready. htc h7 pro shows promise[Edited on December 27, 2010 at 10:47 PM. Reason : in comes a new challenger http://www.htc.com/www/product/7pro/overview.html]

Though slow, wireless sync is pretty awesome. Also, while not great, the Zune software is leaps and bounds above iTunes. And being able to tell how many e-mails, phone calls, and texts you've missed without unlocking the phone? The future is now.

I'm sure it's easily possible for those who live in a roaming area like my parents. They'd easily go over the 800 min or 50% allotment
12/28/2010 2:40:32 PM
For those who have gotten their WP7 in the back-half of this month:https://microsoft.promo.eprize.com/windows7redemption/You can get a free copy of Halo Reach, Fable 3, Kinectimals, or Kinect Joy Ride

Thanks for the tip, just put the form in the mail. We'll see if it pans out in 6-8 weeks.

This new update looks like it will be pretty awesome: http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/11/wp7-update-with-faster-app-load-times-copy-and-paste-is-real-r/Also, I'm not generally one to go on and on about apps, but Bing2Wall is pretty excellent. It basically just lets you grab the last 6 days worth of Bing images (in particular, the ones that appear when you hit the search button) and save them to your phone, allowing you to use them as wallpapers. It's basic, it's free, it works as advertised.
1/11/2011 3:58:25 PM
BTW, my free copy of Kinectimals arrived yesterday.
1/13/2011 11:53:45 AM
seems the new firmware is breaking the jailbreak that allows me to install whatever app I want, whether or not it's in ms's app store. that was one of my favorite things about winmo6. i guess the dell venue pro is out the running now
1/13/2011 2:36:19 PM
^ i thought that got disabled a while back anywaysor maybe they had just announced/speculated earlier that it would. of course, i'm sure you've seen already that the team responsible will be meeting with microsoft to discuss "official" homebrew possibilities in the future[Edited on January 13, 2011 at 3:49 PM. As ^ says, the iPhone had been doing it since the original version, though it's never done locked screen email alerts or any facebook alerts (still doesn't). I can see for people that rely more on facebook/e-mail that these would be desirable though. I've also noticed that it will alert you w/no more than 4-5 lines if the phone's been locked. Definite what have you that this would be useful. Well, there are certainly areas all of the UIs could be improved. I agree that the # next to the button for each function is not a bad idea though, I'd like to see that on my phone!
1/13/2011 10:15:09 PM
I will be getting a Focus soon as my work phone. Where are you guys getting your memory cards at and what is the largest available, 16GB? It looks like you can only use WP7-Certified MicroSD cards.
1/20/2011 11:49:54 AM
Just wanted to bump this topic to mention how awesome the Zune -> WP7 integration is for music, especially compared to iTunes -> iPhone.I think my favorite functionality is that I mainly sync my phone to my computer at home, but if I'm at work and listening to music and find a song I like, I can just plug in my phone, right click and go "Sync with Phone" and the track is available there. None of that "oh, you want to sync with this computer? We need to delete everything off your phone" iPhone bullshit.Of course, I could actually do this directly from my phone, no computer required, but this seems equally as cool.e: Don't know how I missed the previous post, but I use this memory card and it works fine - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003WIRFD2/ref=oss_product[Edited on February 11, 2011 at 9:14 AM. IE9 RC is pretty nice. They need to hurry up and get the render engine into wp7
2/11/2011 11:47:34 AM
^^&^^^ from my understanding it's just a partnership between Nokia & Microsoft, I'm not sure it's been confirmed yet that they are switching their entire OS to WP7.

When is Sprint slated to get these phones? I have been waiting since 2009, and this is like a knife to gut - bringing the phone out and not even let all carriers carry the devices, so I have to sit back and watch others talk about their WP7 phones.

Just verified mid March release date for Verizon WP7 HTC Trophy with our Verizon Business Rep.

So it appears that you can only pre-order the phone at participating stores WITH the purchase of a $50 giftcard? Is this common practice, and is there a chance to get the phone before the scheduled release date (03/20)? Does this mean that I can add the $50 giftcard toward my pre-order of the phone?[Edited on February 24, 2011 at 9:20 AM. Reason : /]
