I was rooting for him. I just hope their move to bring in favre puts their future seasons at jeopardy. (Bad defense, running game plagued by fumbles, and no stud at QB).

So now we have another off season of Favre saying he wants to retire only for June to roll around and have him change his mind again.

Being a Panthers fan I will never be able to cheer for a divisional opponent so Go Team Peyton!

yup, over 30.

just kinda funny to me - saints fans have supported a crappy team for years and years (just like wolfpack basketball/football) city went through hell, and all of a sudden there's all this hate towards them when the team gets good. hey, check my post history over the past 9 years, have supported the saints on these boards long before this season. probably just some sour grapes from vikings fans, but whatever. you brought in the legendary quarterback from your primary rival, didn't deserve to win.

I couldnt give a shit about the Vikings. I think the refs gave you the game and thats besides the point. And the city that supports them are the most ignorant people on the fucking planet. And the NFL has to suck for you as a true Saints fan. Sorry.

That doesn't have anything to do with who deserves anything.

Don't let the haters on rain your parade though. One of the best feelings ever is when you realize your team is about to play in the Super Bowl.

The Hatred is because people are sick of hearing that we should feel sorry for the city of New Orleans because of a natural disaster, therefore we should cheer for your sports team because that will make all the devastation go away. Forget that the city has a crime rate higher than cities with twice their population, and the fact that it was built below sea level.

Katrina was several years ago. Fact is before they were good attendance was down and their were grumblings that the team would be moved to LA or some other location.

So the bandwagon douches have come out of the woodwork especially when they started 13-0, guess what so did the Colts.

And I am not a Vikings fan nor a Brett Favre fan (though I think he probably pne of the Top 10 QB's in history) I am a Panthers Fans my list of Hated teams goes, Falcons, Buccaneers, Saints, Cowboys, Steelers.

Not too much because I figure the Super Bowl will be entertaining, I find it funny that Saints fans think they are going to roll the Colts. It will be an interesting game, but I hate that I am going to have to hear Katrina this Katrina that for 2 weeks and have to hear how Archie will be torn between the team he played for and his son.

I will say Colts win with a Field Goal.

nobody has said shit about new orleans from new orleans.

we are just a powerhouse offensive team with a shut down pass defense that is kicking ass. if you want to blog on about katrina go right ahead asshole

and if u want to call me a saints bandwagon, do your homework. i've been posting since game 1 about my saints. this is nothing new.

i don't see how people think the saints should be favored. they got beat in multiple phases of the game today, the vikings turned the ball over 5 times, and the saints still only barely won.

teams that turn the ball over 5 times DO NOT WIN GAMES. i can't remember if it was the 4th or 5th turnover, but when it happened, i was sitting in front of the team and i actually said out loud, with no one in the room, "Teams that have this many turnovers do not win football games." even though the vikings weren't technically out of it, it was clear they wouldn't win. to take it to overtime after that shows that the saints really aren't that amazing. they almost fucked it up. i personally see the colts walking over the saints. they played against the best rushing team in the league and the best defense and beat them relatively soundly.

manning was getting pressured the same as favre at the beginning of the game, but the difference is that his team was able to adjust so that there was really no impact on him in the latter part of the game. and i don't think anyone would say the saints' defensive secondary is better than the jets.

the saints had a whopping 189 yards passing and 68 yards rushing. are there people that really think that kind of effort should make them a favorite?

The refs gave us this game? Are you lobster-face motherfucks serious?

We yielded nearly 100 yards in penalties this game, on top of being out-gained by 200+ yards. If Henderson's catch had been properly spotted (it was an 11-yard gain on third and 10, and yet got spotted at 9 1/2 yards), then there's no fourth-and-inches. The pass Meachem caught to set up third-and-3 wasn't ever a serious dispute (or shouldn't have been). But I guess calling 12 men in the huddle when Minnesota had... 12 men in the huddle is a give-em-the-game call

We squandered opportunities, failed to capitalize on Minnesota's mistakes on several occasions, and had some questionable (if not flat-out bad) play-calling on both sides of the ball (i.e., blitzing every fucking third down between 5 and 9 yards, most of which Favre easily converted, and missing on several third-and-short situations). Turnovers ultimately killed Minnesota. The only significant stats they lost were the turnover margin, the red zone conversion percentage, and... the score.

It's all good, though. Tracy Porter got to do Jared Allen's dance more times than he did

and THE NEW ORLEANS SAINTS ARE GOING TO WIN THE MOTHERFUCKING SUPER BOWL.

1. I hope this gives an impetus to change overtime rules, preferably to my 'First to 5 points' method.

2. Even before the pick, the Vikes logic was flawed...so many times teams settle for game winning FG attempts from 45-50 yards...that is FAR from a gimme for any kicker. They had plenty of time; get it inside the 20 and make the kick much higher percentage.

3. Got to love the new Pro Bowl process blowing up in the league's face...AFC QB's are now Schaub, Young and Garrard, and NFC might have Jason Campbell now that Brees and Favre are out. Just anoint the players and don't play the game...no one watches anyway, and its impossible to put the same effort in an exibition football game like you can with an exhibition baseball, hockey or basketball game.

I don't think you can blame this on the refs. The calls were tough...and I don't think any of them had enough evidence to be overturned. I think they got all the "challenges" spot-on.

Holy shit Vikings turnovers. That game was ridiculous with all of those fumbles and interceptions. Favre really fucked up on that last throw in regulation...but Peterson needs to do something about that fumbling problem or he's going to have an interesting career. He's going to make his coaches weigh pluses-minuses with him for the rest of his career if he keeps that shit up.

And I was cheering for the Saints...but they easily got outplayed. Sure they came up with some big plays in causing those fumbles...but you gotta put the majority of the blame on the Vikings for that fumbilitis. Colts SHOULD roll in the Super Bowl.

Its true that we'll have to hear about Katrina, but Garcon on the Colts side is a native of Haiti American-Haitian, with unaccounted relatives in Haiti.

Yeah I fail to see how the refs handed the Saints the game. There were several very close calls, that probably could have gone either way, the first down run and the bobbled 12 yd pass near the end of the game come to mind now. But all in all, I think it was pretty solid officiating. I am not saying there was not one single bad call, but the refs did not decide this game. Adrian Peterson's inability to keep the football and Brett Favre's inability to not throw an interception is what cost the Vikings the game.

ThePeter:

Jonathan Vilma's family is from Haiti, as well. So, each team has one.

analysis that I attempted to edit into my post last night, only I fell asleep

The Saints weren't at their best. Minnesota is also a good team and were not going to let us coast this game. It was more-or-less the type of game I expected it to be, and fortunately it didn't turn into Adrian Peterson vs. Pierre Thomas. The Saints executed well, but I'm not convinced that this was Payton's or Williams' best coaching effort, either. We've seen the Saints dominate, we've seen them stagnate, and we've seen them turn it on after falling behind a little (or a lot).

The general feeling is that not many people were impressed with the Saints this season - from the opening-Sunday thrashing of the Lions (they've lost severalteen in a row!!!), the hurt levied on the Eagles the next week (they didn't have McNabb!), all the way up to our 13th win in a row (they're the worst 13-0 team ever and are about to backslide!, according to some pundits and analysts). Very few believed in this team, and nobody in the media gave us any kind of leeway for the injuries that mounted in late November/early December (despite clearly mentioning those things for other teams).

Add in you retards bringing up Katrina when I, a New Orleans native and current resident, don't even want to discuss it -- I'm here to talk football first and foremost -- and you begin to see why I'm more than somewhat upset at some of the shit said about both the Saints and New Orleans. I get that most of you are far enough away geographically to not have a serious interest in the fate of New Orleans, and the Saints are a rival of the Panthers, but only one of those things matters on the field.

Let's go get it. Saints vs. Colts. 27-0, 0-5, then 4-0. This oughta be good.

No shit. They got doubled up in yards and almost tripled in 3rd downs.

I can't see Peyton making a fraction of the mistakes that Favre made...and there are no fumbling machines like Peterson on the Colts. I was surprised with how well the Colts D played against the Jets....and Garcon and Collie looked incredible. Also surprised at the lack of explosiveness of the Saints offense last night. If they play like that in 2 weeks...it will be ugly.

since when does 2 int's make a terrible game? other than those and that fumble that wasn't even really his fault, favre set records for most yards in a championship game and most completions. it was more the ref's fault for not having the balls to make tough calls in OT than it was favre's.

he set a record for getting curb stomped in a football game

haha on that one hand off fumble he practically threw the ball at the RB because he was so fuckin afraid to get drilled

he was all like "AH MY GAWD GET IT AWAY FROM MEEEEEE"

u could see it clearly on the replay, he flea flicked that hand off and was prepared to run all the way to his sideline to get out of the heat

LOL at the people complaining about the calls.

We lose to Maryland by 24, its the refs fault.

Minnesota Favre's choke a game away with fumbles/Ints, its the refs fault.

Both games were called fairly. Wake the fuck up.

For them to call uncatchable, it has to be pretty far out of reach. Watch the replay, the ball isn't that far ahead of him. And they will always call PI when the defender isn't looking. Look at the Berrian PI in the endzone, same play, the guy wasn't looking and got flagged for it.

no shit. I am tired of hearing this "feel sorry for the saints" shit too. I have a feeling that the players on the saints waded through Katrina just fine.

If anything I think Katrina did NO a favor. Washed out some of the riff-raff and gave the city a chance to rejuevinate itself.
