Read back on Page 3, we already discussed Walt's "role" in Jane's death. Which isn't really a "role" - he saw her start throwing up and choking, and he did nothing to help her. End of story. End of Jane.

Quote :
"yall can equate "not saving" to "killing" in those terms if you want, but i shall not"

I don't think he killed her. Not in the way he has killed others. He simply allowed her to die. He didn't help her, but he didn't hurt her.

Jane blackmails Walt.

Walt delivers money to Jesse, tries to wake Jesse up, an action that rolls Jane onto her back.

Walt then lets Jane choke on vomit.

You're right, this was arguably more evil.

Kill or not kill, it's an action/inaction that supports the gale killing, story and character-wise, which is what I was originally pointing out. argh.

I won't say with certainty because I haven't watched that episode in awhile, but I'm about 75% sure that Jane was already on her back and Walt did not cause her to roll over by shaking Jesse.

I agree that it was pure evil for him not to try saving her, but I understand his motives for it.

to me, the ethical leap between killing "bad" people and killing "good" people is marginal compared to the leap between not killing people and killing people.

Walt was definitely responsible for Jane ending up on her back. I don't know if you can still call it "killing", but whatever you call it I tend to agree that it's arguably more evil than his actual kills have been. Even more than Gale (Jesse actually did the killing, but Walt ordered it so w/e). Killing Gale was a matter of life and death for Walt.

Walt shook Jesse causing Jane to roll over and then she started vomiting. If WW never showed up she would have never rolled over. So he did have something to do with her death but I wouldn't say he is 100 percent responsible.

"The point of that whole shit was that Walt caused the plane crash by causing her death.

Also blaming WW for the plane crash is complete bullshit. IMO those deaths are not on him.

it's not "complete bullshit" it's the butterfly effect.

So if we are going with butterfly effect then Jesse is as responsible bc he brought meth back in her life which lead to heroin which led to the overdose.

Shit is GAY

Season 1. I caught up after it was over. I've seen every episode.... as I assume most people on this thread have.

Quote :
""keeping the Fam in the picture" isn't some cheap plot thing that you're making it out to be, it's everything to Walt."

Yea, maybe I didn't really make that point clear... I agree that keeping Sky and Walt Jr. in the picture is 50% of the show, HUGE. I was more so saying that it would take quite a bit of explanation to keep them in the picture if the writers went with a plausible idea outside killing Gale.

Quote :
"to me, the ethical leap between killing "bad" people and killing "good" people is marginal compared to the leap between not killing people and killing people."

THAT is a solid point, I'm not sure I agree. But at least you brought it up and made a point... seems you made a leap yourself from:

Quote :
"wow, this wizzkidd is a real tard."

which really solidified everything

give it up dude, you posted a bunch of ill-conceived and nonsensical analysis that has been widely discredited by me and other posters in this thread. Your two main points, at least that I could discern were that a) it was totally out of character for Walt to order Jessie to kill Gale because Gale is a "good" person and b) he could have saved his life in 900 ways other than having Jessie kill Gale. The first point is wildly dubious since Walt has crossed just about every imaginable ethical line prior to that point in the series including murdering numerous people. I don't even need to go into the problematic assumption that Gale was a "good" person, especially since we know he has manufactured methamphetamine which has undoubtedly destroyed numerous people's lives. On the second point, you've made no credible attempt at describing an alternate scenario for Walt to save his skin at the last second when he's with Mike. I thought that scenario was completely believable and made perfect sense.

Excuse me for discussing a TV show in it's appropriate thread. If you don't want to discuss said TV show and don't want to read other people's discussion then don't fucking click on the thread.

I'd love to discuss the show. Unfortunately, what you seem to be doing is not discussing, but rather informing. Informing us all that he's wrong about what he thinks was going on, and you're apparently right. I didn't realize there was only one OPINION to be had where this show is concerned. Did you write the show? Is the writer your brother?

I posted what I thought was wrong about what he was saying, and why I thought it was wrong. If you have a problem with that, then you can go fuck yourself. I'm not going to bother arguing about some false dichotomy between "discussing" and "informing".

There's plenty of opinions on the show, but some are informed and logical and others are not.

0.o

so uh

What do you people think will happen if Jesse finds out Walt involuntarily manslaughtered Jane?

Think he'll be all "I've accepted this and moved on" or "You gonna die bitch"

at first Jesse will be like "you're gunna die, bitch" then something epic will happen and they'll have to work things out or die and then they'll forgive each other and move on to something else epic happening.

I'm surprised there is so much debate about Walt's character instead of Jessie's. This is the first time Jesse has killed in the whole series. And even though he is a druggie, it is still more "out of character" for him to kill than Walt. Especially since Jesse could skip town and be forgotten about, but now he has this to deal with. WTF shit is crazy!

Yeah, Jesse is definitely the 'innocent youth'...the producers even called him the moral center of the show in an interview. Why did he stay in town? I can't remember why or if they gave a reason.

I kinda feel bad for Saul, now he's going to have to deal with the hitman's wrath for giving a false address out in Virginia. I hope they revisit that in the future to show how it went down when he rolled up on some random person's house

Quote :
"Walter White lives on. AMC and Sony Pictures TV are on the verge of announcing a fourth-season pickup for "Breaking Bad."

The intense drama series starring Bryan Cranston as a high school chemistry teacher who turns to meth manufacturing after he's diagnosed with cancer has been a strong performer for AMC, critically and commercially. But the cost of the show presented some hurdles for the cabler and studio in coming terms on a deal for a fourth season.

"Breaking Bad" is said to cost about $3 million per episode, which is on the high end of most basic cable dramas. It's understood that the studio and network went back and forth for some time on setting the budget for the fourth season, and on an agreement for AMC to pick up some of the tab in the case of budget overruns.

"Breaking Bad" has drawn raves from TV crix for its nuanced portrayal of the drug trade and for the work of Cranston in the lead role as White. Cranston earned the lead drama actor Emmy for the past two years for his work on the show, which was also nommed for best drama series last year.

Vince Gilligan is creator and exec producer of "Breaking Bad," which also stars Aaron Paul, Anna Gunn and Dean Norris. The show wrapped its 13-episode third season on Sunday.

Reps for Sony and AMC could not be reached for comment late Sunday"

Finally got through this. It was hard to get through the more recent episodes because I don't really like any character on the show. They are all assholes and/or dumbasses. And they whiny rather than endearing, unlike characters on The Wire (who are also assholes and dumbasses).

I take it back -- I like the old guy assassin.

I'm seeing July 2011 for the start. Also, apparently AMC has been filming short 5 minute clip, but haven't seen anything about when they'll be aired

they said they would be progressing the plot through those 5 min. clips to tide fans over until the next season, but i have not seen anything specific either about airing dates/times

they were ready to launch season 4 in March but decided to air it this summer so they wouldn't have to compete with network television
