Cutcliffe won at Ole Miss as a head coach.

The offensive credentials he has are as good as anyone's.

And? He had Peyton at UT....over half the battle is getting good players.

He beat us at Duke turning Thad Lewis into arguably the ACC's best QB, he would be fine.

I'm just saying, Amato sure as hell looked good, when he had Philip Rivers

mentioning Peyton supports my point

Cutcliffe has a rep with QBs like our staff does with OL. Eli went to Ole Miss because of him

[Edited on January 13, 2010 at 9:50 PM. Reason : \/ i bet it helped but i've read the family liked what he did with Peyton. could be wrong]

Sure it didn't have anything to do with Eli's dad playing football at Ole Miss?

Eli went there 1st because of his Dad, 2nd not to try to fill Peyton's shoes, 3rd because he saw what Cutcliffe did with Peyton

They should go after Stockstill (MTSU). I could see him or Al Golden (the Holland/UVA connection), with Kirby Smart, Frank Solich, Terry Bowden, and Mike Leach as less likely names that could come up.

USF is NOT a huge step up. give me a break.

he'll likely get more talent, and im sure he'll succeed there, but raw dealfor ECU.

here's who i think ECU should hire...

TOMMY BOWDEN.

or

BOBBY BOWDEN.

tell bobby he can coach as long as he wants hahahaha

the key being that it is a step up

one Orange Bowl appearance for him and it's off to a bigger, better job

watch the Big East finally admit ECU to the conference...

that'd be hysterical. only thing holding them back is a basketball program. everything else, they can compete in and would be a perfect fit. they'd compete in football year in/out, and dominate faces in baseball.

Maybe ECU will have some offense now. They relied on their defense to win the last few years & with the def. coordinator gone next year could have been rough for skips stock.

I understand the move, but it dosen't change my mind that USF is a shit program.

ECU will find another good coach. Terry Holland is a far better AD than our AD is & I mean Far Better. They are lucky to have him. I fucking despise our AD.

USF is in a great recruiting area, plays in an NFL stadium, is in a BCS conference, and has broken into the top ten a few times. i don't see how it isn't a significant upgrade over ECU.

I'm not saying this isn't an upgrade from ecu. Unless they ever get in the BCS they will never hang onto a coach for too long.

I'm saying there are better programs out there to take over. just my biased opinion & I'm not bitter about them beating our ass before.

Dude's like 45, he couldn't wait around forever for the perfect job to open up

Step up incrementally

That said, I'm not sure he's a good enough coach to succeed at the highest level

It remains to be seen

The update at 5:17 said that sources at Tenn say he hadn't taken the job yet.

Granted, he might have taken it by now anyway.

But that one's mildly up in the air. I guess it's up to Duke to entice him to stay.
