new sales are up, looks like my plans to be productive today are now screwed
7/3/2011 1:21:48 PM
Magicka is pretty fun playing it with a controller.
7/3/2011 1:31:48 PM
Of the sales today, I recommend Torchlight, Tropico 3, and War for Cybertron[Edited on July 3, 2011 at 3:26 PM. Reason : ^ How does that work? You need 8 buttons on the keyboard to play that game.]
7/3/2011 3:25:11 PM
You push the Right Analog up (north), down (south), right (east), or left (west), and you rotate one way or the other to choose the magic, thus you have a 8-way control. It works easy and is precise, and you use the d-pad for choose learned things like Haste or Naplam (for the Vietnam DLC) for example.[Edited on July 3, 2011 at 3:33 PM. Reason : /]
7/3/2011 3:33:24 PM
Just tried it,so, so much harder and more complicated.
7/3/2011 3:48:54 PM
I might have to pick up Tropico. I still play the original.
7/3/2011 3:52:14 PM
I bought Tropico 3 on this sale last year.I've played it over 70 hours [Edited on July 3, 2011 at 3:53 PM. Reason : ]
7/3/2011 3:53:14 PM
Tropico 3 is great. I love being El Presidente. One thing about the sales I love is, since I've gotten to college I've haven't found video games as fun as they used to be, but for some reason the sales always get my gaming bug going again.
7/3/2011 4:18:33 PM
Trine is totally worth 2 bucks. Alpha protocol for $5. New Vegas $15.
7/4/2011 1:15:45 PM
New Vegas at 15 seems too good to pass on.
7/4/2011 2:32:11 PM
how is new vegas on pc?
7/4/2011 4:29:03 PM
Good, but you can get it for $10 at Best Buy and then activate it on Steam.
7/4/2011 5:20:28 PM
^whoopsI got new vegas. I hear it crashes a lot
7/4/2011 11:34:36 PM
^^thanks for the heads up.
7/5/2011 12:38:12 AM
Steam's a pretty good deal, though.I spent $20 on NV and the two expansions which are also 70% off. Plus there is no tax which is always good. The game is good so far. It seems like they incorporated a lot of the popular user mods from FO3 which made the game so much better.
7/5/2011 1:16:57 AM
Picked up Torchlight. For those of you looking for a Diablo bug to itch, I'd suggest this. Only missing element is a multiplayer
7/5/2011 1:27:51 AM
^^ The story is sooo much better than Fallout 3's also. It feels much more like Fallout 1 and 2 (which is funny because Fallout 3 was basically just a mash up of plot elements and ideas ripped straight out of 1 and 2 and slapped together without worrying about them making sense).[Edited on July 5, 2011 at 1:28 AM. 7/5/2011 3:23:59 PM
any necessary mods for new vegas? Something in the vein of 2009 Complete for Stalker, ups the graphics and all that.
7/5/2011 4:31:49 PM
Do you know about this place?http://www.newvegasnexus.com/Tons of great mods there. I even made a few myself.
7/5/2011 4:56:11 PM
yup, I've been there for Elder Scrolls and FO3. These games are far superior on the PC for this very reason.Trying to play through once without gameplay mods, just visual ones.]
7/5/2011 5:53:59 PM
I got Witcher 2.I hate this game....Can anyone try to convince me not to uninstall it?
7/5/2011 7:03:01 PM
What's your problem with it?
7/5/2011 7:14:37 PM
So far,New Vegas w/ dlc'sNeed for Speed packAI WarTempted on guild of wars trilogy, but I really don't need an epic MMO story line to follow atm. I'm pretty surprised that COD4 is still sold for $10 sale price, would have expected that game to drop down to like $5 or less considering its quite a few generations behind (although a great game nontheless and better than any of the recent COD crap).
7/6/2011 12:35:34 PM
thought this sale was through the 10th... its over? wtf
7/6/2011 1:05:20 PM
It isn't over, the daily deals expire every day at noon though.

7/6/2011 10:10:03 PM
I got New Vegas and the Honest Hearts DLC and the download keeps getting suspended ~90%.
7/7/2011 3:50:38 PM
^^^^ Yeah there's very little tutorial, the combat is tough and confusing at first for everyone because it's nothing like the original. The best tips I can give you is that it's about timing, and to use dodge more than block. Oh, and when you're allowed to spend your level up points on other trees besides the training tree, upgrade your Quen sign, it makes the combat much easier.Alchemy isn't that tough once you get the hang of it, in fact it automatically selects the ingredients if you have them when you click the name of the potion. The order that the flashbacks happen are exactly how you would expect. The one at the top comes first and it goes down from there. But you only have to play each one once, so you won't get in any sort of loop. You get out of the jail soon enough, that's just the first part of the game.Oh and from what I can tell crafting items like wood aren't worth carrying around. The crafting you can do in this game isn't really that good and is about as expensive as just buying stuff, plus the stuff you find will be just as awesome anyway. For the few times you need these items you'll probably be able to find or buy enough.
7/7/2011 4:15:52 PM
snagged king authur's rpg game.
7/7/2011 4:48:31 PM
And i snagged Sanctum. Worth every penny.
7/8/2011 1:41:18 AM
booting up my new system today...hopefully there's something awesome to test it out with on sale later today
7/8/2011 8:17:30 AM
I don't know if anyone has noticed the total lack of EA games on the Steam sale, but in case people haven't heard EA has permanently pulled all their games from the Steam marketplace to launch their own service.
7/8/2011 11:14:35 AM
7/8/2011 12:03:50 PM
Its not a total lack..I'm pretty certain that I saw Dragon Age II up there a few days ago, but that's all I can think of offhand
7/8/2011 12:46:37 PM
Well what do you know, Mass Effect 2 is up there now, guess it's just new EA games. Also Fallout 3 game of the year edition is up.[Edited on July 8, 2011 at 1:22 PM. Reason : ]
7/8/2011 1:21:22 PM
just got Mass Effect 1&2 for 13 bucks
7/8/2011 1:26:17 PM
Oh I didn't even see the Empire and Napoleon total war two pack for $10. That's totally worth it if you like strategy and war games.
7/8/2011 1:30:51 PM
Amnesia, Worms, and Empire/Napoleon. Ouch my wallet! Only $70 left allotted for the sale.
7/8/2011 1:38:35 PM
So should my New Vegas download still be suspended? Is it because the Steam servers are getting hammered?
7/8/2011 4:39:14 PM
I picked up ME1 & 2 when they were on sale a month or 2 ago, and just beat ME1 last night. Can't wait to start on ME2.
7/8/2011 5:38:28 PM
the download process has been horrid on steam the past few days. it took forever to install bioshock 2. it would go a bit, then stop, then pick up again etc.
7/8/2011 5:56:10 PM
^ I experienced the same thing downloading and installing GTA4.
7/8/2011 6:28:58 PM
If you're in NC, set your download region to Charlotte. I haven't had any problems with downloading during the sale here.
