Wanted to get this game badly. Only complaint I consistently heard was that it sucks playing it solo.Is there any truth to this statement? Also, "Frank Horrigan" = awesome.

I played through once when the game first came out, had no real issue as a soldier. Some parts were sort of difficult, but nothing impossible.
7/20/2011 8:50:35 PM
I've only played it solo, as Mordecai the hunter. I thought it was fun
7/20/2011 10:55:39 PM
It doesn't suck playing solo, it just that playing with more people is scale up noticeably in terms of enemies numbers/toughness, and theoretically better loot drops. So while you would have more fun playing with other people, playing solo is still fun. Trying going to Old Haven or The Caludron (in the field next to it where the spawn point and vending machines are at) with 4 people, that shit is really fun though lol. Or go to the Trash Coast and go right on the map instead of left as if you were going to fight the Rakk Hive - another favorite spot of mine to run through, kill everything, restart the game, and do it over and over loot hunting. I think Old Haven (in the core game) has the best chances for orange loot drops from my experience.
7/21/2011 6:35:04 AM
I found solo play to be good times. I used the Bruiser, he was fun.
7/21/2011 3:48:01 PM
Solo was fine for me. Co-op will be more fun when I catch up to seedless' level.
7/21/2011 6:30:27 PM
I can power level you up if you want to catch up quick.
7/21/2011 6:39:10 PM
bttt as steam put all borderlands up for 75% off$7.50 for goty[Edited on August 28, 2011 at 4:11 PM. Reason : also i added people on steam, name djgrimx]
8/28/2011 4:02:59 PM
I don't mind solo so much, but it's definitely much more challenging/fun with other folks. I'm working through the Zombie Island and all the missions are marked trivial because I'm so high up.
8/28/2011 4:50:59 PM
Wait until you do playthrough 2.5, you gonna be amazed.
8/28/2011 5:23:17 PM
just starting up again on steam now (did ps3 before) and up to 25 hunter
8/28/2011 5:32:48 PM
Yeah that Steam deal pwned. I'm a level 8 Hunter right now. jus10ls on Steam although I've never played Co-Op.
8/28/2011 8:07:52 PM
Gay
8/28/2011 8:13:10 PM
as i just got the game on steam how do you go about adding friends in the game interface? just know their in game names? or add their steam names?[Edited on August 29, 2011 at 8:45 AM. Reason : i suppose you probably just add the gamespy id?]
8/29/2011 8:43:57 AM
i snagged this the other day at 7.99 combo pack.I have a lvl 15 hunter. Sniping shit is cool until everything runs up on you. In a solo/single player game, whats the best leveling character? I haven't played anything else.
8/29/2011 10:27:28 AM
I think it depends on play and how you level them. I've played everyone but the hunter, and I think I've come to like the Siren the most. The dynamic entry/exit is too useful when it comes to clearing out any swarm of enemies around or escaping a situation when you're in over your head. The Soldier's turret was really useful too as a solo player because for a brief period it's like having a teammate.
8/29/2011 10:35:44 AM
^^ i liked playing the soldier when i went through the first time.brick (berserker i guess he is) would be fun with a regular group to play withsiren wasn't too bad either.playing hunter mostly cause i prefer to use the pistol for my weapon
8/29/2011 10:42:07 AM
That's one thing I never understood. It gives you the preferred weapon of each character, but I never noticed any particular skill boost with those weapons. Do you level more easily with those or anything, or is it just adding to each character's "story"?
8/29/2011 11:09:06 AM
I'm not sure about leveling more, I think its that the points you get as you level can be applied to something that helps boost those particular weapons
8/29/2011 12:57:38 PM
So i made a soldier. Must faster. Run in, drop turrent, and shit dies.
8/29/2011 1:47:41 PM
^^That makes a lot more sense.^I do the same with my Siren, but it's more. Run in. Phasewalk. Leave everything bleeding from combined elemental damage (Spark+Dynamic Entry/Exit+Phoenix).
8/29/2011 4:10:08 PM
have people posted their gamespy ids yet? trying to find some others to play with some nights
8/29/2011 10:44:06 PM
Add me via Steam, FrankHorrigan.
8/29/2011 11:20:17 PM
added i believe
8/29/2011 11:50:20 PM
OK, hit me up sometimes.
8/30/2011 12:59:46 AM
Just beat the last boss. Good fun game all around. Probably won't ever do online play or game+.
9/5/2011 1:43:42 PM
My girlfriend and I just beat the game yesterday, so no we are working on the DLC. Blowing up zombies is always fun.
9/5/2011 9:27:32 PM
9/5/2011 10:42:48 PM
I've finished my second play through with Mordecai. I've beaten the Secret Armory of Gen. Knoxx by myself and am now finishing some of the side quests. I'm bogged down in the middle of the zombie DLC, that shit is impossible solo. My hunter is level 62, anyone want to party up?As far as guns go, I haven't found any good high-level stuff. Some of my current guns are things I found early in my first run with high elemental modifiers. I really want a pearlescent sniper rifle.
9/5/2011 11:23:10 PM
9/5/2011 11:54:30 PM
I know once you get to new haven, you can open all 5 of those chests. save, reload. You can can get some pretty decent weapons about halfway through the game doing this.
9/5/2011 11:55:43 PM
So I've got this and Fallout: New Vegas from a previous sale that I have not played. Any thoughts on which I should play first?
9/6/2011 11:00:16 AM
so I've finished all the main missions in DLC except for Mad Moxie; I've only done the first challenge there. I'm trying to level to 61 in order to handle the final mission in the Armory. Is it worth going ahead with my second playthrough? I'm not too interested in the arenas at the moment. Also, is there any way to go about getting the best loot in the armory?
9/6/2011 11:14:48 AM
so all the DLC content scales? that kinda sucks.
9/6/2011 12:31:18 PM
9/6/2011 4:26:13 PM
^^My understanding was that enemies in general scale with you to some degree; although, all my DLC missions were marked "trivial." On the second playthrough, they should jump up in difficulty.
9/6/2011 4:31:39 PM
9/6/2011 5:02:46 PM
I dunno. I sort of like the randomization. Sure, there's tons of chaff to sort through, but I feel like there's always the chance of finding something better. If I were just upgrading parts, I wouldn't appreciate the variety of guns nearly as much.
9/6/2011 5:14:53 PM
You got to 61 in just the first playthrough? Nice.
9/6/2011 5:25:11 PM
To the guy who wished his gfs played games:She liked playing Zelda on Wii and then played Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 with me and wasn't too bad. We decided on playing Borderlands next. Dear God, she sucked at it for a while. Eventually, she at down and played by herself for a while to get better at it. Then she ended up pretty decent with the soldier.Pretty good deal for a hot, non-nerdy, no WoW playing girl. And she's thin with big boobies
9/6/2011 8:59:20 PM
beat first playthrough yesterday, lucked out with a few eridian weapons on the way which did some heavy damage to vault boss
9/7/2011 9:29:10 AM
^^obviously pics or she isnt real
9/7/2011 9:47:35 AM
I loved using the Eridian weapons for sniping from a distance, destroying shields, and conserving ammo.
9/7/2011 10:10:52 AM
9/7/2011 10:51:36 AM
I suppose with that limitation it'd be a little interesting, but I think I still prefer finding completely new weapons. I understand why one would want that latter, but I prefer the former.
9/7/2011 11:13:40 AM
Just an FYI there are over 3 million unique weapons in Borderlandshttp://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/29/borderlands-has-at-least-three-million-possible-weapon-combinati/But I agree with ^ they should have some completely different weapons not just one with a scope and one without. Seems to me they just had lazy programs and used a randomizer.
