Only issues I've had with SL so far is the built-in MySQL/PHP/etc environment. For some reason, every OS X upgrade seems to break something, and this time I can't get it going. I can use MySQL from the command line, but PHP refuses to connect to my shared host on my local Apache instance. I did a clean install of SL just to see what the deal was... and out of the box it's broken. Anyone else experience/fixed this?

^I haven't had any issues upgrading from leopard to SL with Apache, Tomcat, PHP, MySQL.Even after doing a clean install and restoring those configs from time machine worked like a charm.the only problem i had in that sense was with Leopard when a new java update was installed...it broke tomcat.

^ what version of mysql does your host have?

I think at work we're running 5.1.x? and on my machine i'm running 5.1.39 (64 bit)

that'd be why... my host is way behind on mysql updates.. 5.0xx found this yesterday http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/old-client.htmlsince i upgraded to snow leopard, that is, php 5.3 and mysql 5.4b, i can't connect to my host's mysql instance; it's really pathetic.. my host (Lunarpages) has always had really good uptime and responsiveness, but the support guys i've communicated with are clueless.

im having problems installing win7 64 pro in bootcamp on snow leopard. i think i found a real solution, but it requires a windows system (instructions at http://jowie.com/blog/post/2008/02/24/Select-CD-ROM-Boot-Type-prompt-while-trying-to-boot-from-Vista-x64-DVD-burnt-from-iso-file.aspx ). i dont suppose anyone knows of a solution i can implement on a mac?i guess ill explain my problem: after i successfully partitioned my HDD with the bootcamp assistant, i go to install using the cd, and it just goes to a "select cd-rom boot type" screen, and the keyboard doesnt work. i looked it up, i figured out what was causing it, then posted this.[Edited on November 16, 2009 at 12:47 AM. Reason : problem]

I have a 2 year old intel imac with 3 gigs of ram. For shits and giggles I installed win 7 64 bit and a hell of a time getting boot camp to install from the snow leopard disk. I finally did but I had a bunch of errors while on the windows side. Finally I erased the partition and reinstalled 32 bit 7 and it is running smooth. Also keep in mind Apple is not "officially" supporting windows 7 in boot camp until after the Holidays.

can anyone give me a simple way to backup with TimeMachine to a Windows Network Share?

mount the drive in Mac OS X then go into your settings for time machine and it should show up under optional drives.

http://code.google.com/p/macfuse/http://www.ntfs-3g.org/i use these to write to ntfs formatted drives

ntfs-3g shouldn't be necessary with Snow Leopard.

I picked up a used unibody MBP last night after going back to Windows for a month and missing Mac. Only problem is that the guy never used the cord for the power adapter and couldn't find it. I hate having to plug the brick directly into the wall. Does anybody know where I might be able to pick up JUST the cord? Apple's site doesn't list anything and I'm still relatively new to macs so I don't know good places to pick up accessories.
