I don't think I'd take that tradeHere's the team I drafted last night...not sure why I'm posting but everyone else seems to be...feel free to comment:QB Carson PalmerRB Adrian PetersonRB Darren McFaddenWR Greg JenningsWR Anquan BoldinWR Vincent JacksonRB/WR Jericho CotcheryTE Chris CooleyAlso a question: My friend has the 1st pick in a draft and was offered by the guy with the 10th pick to swap first round picks and take his 3rd round pick. It's a 3rd round reversal so his 3rd round pick would be the third of the round. I think it's a good deal, what do you guys think?
8/27/2009 12:30:24 PM
I wouldnt do itI think Ray Rice is going to see more action that McLain this year, Felix Jones is a beast and I think he will have a better year than Graham or McLain
8/27/2009 12:30:57 PM
^^^ Personally I like Felix a lot more than McClain... I think Ray Rice is going to be the starter in Baltimore (committee my ass). If both starters went down I'd rather have Jones... I don't really see much upside to this trade... sounds like he wants Jones tho... maybe you can counter with something better.[Edited on August 27, 2009 at 12:32 PM. Reason : ]

I have the 2nd pick in the draft and I want to take DeAngelo, assuming ADP isn't available. Any thoughts?
8/27/2009 12:38:24 PM
^^^^^ So essentially he would be trading the 1st overall pick for the 10th and 34th overall picks?(assuming 12 team leauge with snake draft).I mean I guess that could work out pretty well... he should mock it out and see what that would look like... it'd be like trading AP for Chris Johnson and Colston.... not the worst idea.[Edited on August 27, 2009 at 12:39 PM. be careful, Nate Washington is hurt and might miss a few games to start the regular season
8/27/2009 1:02:49 PM
I have Jason Witten as TE and I could use one more good WR.The only person I can drop is Visanthe Shiancoe, and alot of people are predicting he'll finish as one of the top 5 TEs. I can drop him now and pick up Donnie Avery or another sleeper, or I can hold on to him and hope to cut a better trade during the season. Any suggestions?
8/27/2009 1:05:32 PM
you never need 2 TE's, especially when you have Witten.drop him and pick up Avery, who has recovered nicely from his foot injury. In general, a teams number one WR (Avery) is always better than a backup TE.

i dont like my team that muchwonky league, non-ppr, but enforced on the draft to have 2qb, 2te, 4rb, 4wr, 2k, 2def... when the free agent window opens, such roster enforcements go away (makes no sense, i know)(there's a reason i play in this league.. it's $250 buy in, and full of retards and homers.. one guy tries to get all the chargers, another all the jets, another cowboys, and another eagles.. been relatively easy money the last few years.)free agent window opens saturday, would like suggestions QB breesQB e.manningRB addaiRB b.jacobsRB j.lewisRB r.williamsWR b.berrianWR calvin johnsonWR donnie averyWR torry holtTE j. wittenTE z.millerk rian lindellK m.praterD/ST patsD/ST panthers (full of homers )start 1qb,2rb,2wr,1te,1k,1d/st... no flex.when i drop a d and k i'll likely try and find another wr and maybe an rb? not excited about addai, and who knows what jamaal lewis will do.dont need z.miller, and i doubt his trade value is worth holding on to him instead of picking up another rb or something, but there are a few teams with absolute garbage at te.. who knows[Edited on August 27, 2009 at 2:56 PM. No way those three are better than Turner. The Falcons might even be better this year and Turner is going to carry them.
8/27/2009 4:12:55 PM
The falcons are acutally more likely to open up the passing game this year...And have said they're not going to work turner into the ground like they did last year.plus DeA and Turner had virtually the same stats last year...except DeA did it with 100 less carries.[Edited on August 27, 2009 at 4:16 PM. what about in a PPR league (1pt per rec) Turner seems like a clear number 2 in normal leaguesMJD or Forte seem like potentially better choices in PPR leaguesI have the #2 pick and am curious who I should take between the 3 (assuming AP goes first)
8/27/2009 4:31:58 PM
yes, in original PPR leagues (1pt per) MJD or Forte are great options, if not top options. And In my opinion (15+ years of FF experience, back to when we tallied scores by newspaper clippings, no joke), I always have taken the RB, in a toss up situation, who is on the better offense, simply because they will get more cracks at scoring, then running the game out on the ground.i like turner better than DeA, IMHO.- The Guru

okay....On this day in Fantasy Football History (ok, not really. Here are the important transactions that happened today in Fantasy-Land)1) Pierre Thomas out for the remainder of the Preseason with Sprained MCL (typically not too severe of an injury - Right on the heels of the news that Pierre Thomas could have his carries limited by Mike Bell this season, coach Sean Payton announced on Thursday that the running back is likely to miss the rest of the Saints preseason with a sprained MCL, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.The team said it expects him to be fully recovered for Week 1, but he is looking more and more like someone you should not be counting on to help carry your running game in 2009.2) Brandon Marshall straight up no-shows for practice - According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, Brandon Marshall was not present at the start of the team's practice Thursday. No reason as to why Marshall didn't show. His displeasure with the organization is well documented, so he may simply have just decided to not show up. We wouldn't put it past him. Coach Josh McDaniels wouldn't say one way or the other if Marshall would play in Sunday's preseason game. He is arguably the biggest boom vs. complete bust of the WR class this year.3) T.O. returns to Bills practice today, but was still slightly limited with the toe injury - Buffalobills.com reports that Terrell Owens (sprained toe) returned to practice on Thursday, but only participated in individual position drills.T.O. didn't appear to be at full speed during drills and he has already been ruled out for Saturday's preseason game against the Steelers. He did however run a handful of routes and caught some passes from the quarterbacks.4) Vick to make his debut tonight - ESPN.com reports that Michael Vick will play in the first quarter of tonight's game against the Jaguars. There was no quotes from Andy Reid regarding this move, but only a "source". Regardless, Vick will play tonight and that is the story. For fantasy purposes, he holds no value except for in very deep leagues.More could develop and be fantasy relevant with tonight's action. I'll let you know if anything pops up.- The Guru

League rules are modified a little. We start QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 RB/WR, 1 TE, 1 Utility (usually 2nd QB), 1 K, 1 Dpassing td's 4, rushing 3, rec 6. yards are standard. we do give 0.2 pts/per carry. This is to offset the reduction in rushing td's and shift focus to everydown backs and away from goaline specialists.10 teams:QB: Garrard, Favre, Flacco, BulgerRB: M.Turner, S.Jackson, R.Rice, J.Jones, D.Brown, J.Charles, R.MendenhallWR: Ca.Johnson, R.Moss, K.Walter, N.Burleson, M.AustinTE: OlsenK: KaedingD: Giants, JetsWhat do you think? I think I've got a pretty good squad if I can offset my QB weakness.

Any strategies for 8 man leagues ?I don't like the concept since all the teams will be stacked, but its a work league and only 14 people work here, and half of them don't like sports, so we couldn't get it any bigger
8/28/2009 11:05:52 AM
Fuuuuuuuuuck about Pierre Thomas. Was hopign he'd be a stud for me this year, but its looking more and more like he'll be a matchup play at best. He was a beast at the end of last year.Anyone riding this guy?

^^^just to follow up:According to TheDenverChannel.com, disgruntled Broncos' receiver Brandon Marshall was not at practice on Friday after taking heat for his antics at practice on Thursday. Coach Josh McDaniels refused to comment on Marshall after practice was over. The Marshall saga has come to a head in Denver, and now that he has been suspended by the team for the rest of the preseason it seems very possible that his next NFL reception could be for a different squad. It is getting to a point where it will be nearly impossible for Marshall to suit up for the Bronc's, so watch for a trade in the coming weeks. This could be the same, or terrible for his fantasy value if he were traded. Nothing good can come of this situation. If you draft this weekend, I would avoid him and go with a Boldin/Colston/Housh if at all possible.

yeah, great draft, but it's obvious that its a weak and not-so-savvy league. No way in hell, especially in a PPR league, that Andre makes it to pick 2.6 in the 2nd.but hey, that's not your problem. Reap the benefits.by the way^^, Turner is a damn beast. He's got arguably the best offensive line and overall offense of any of the top 5 RB's in fantasy land. You can make a legit argument for him being an easy choice for #2 overall.

Jacobs, Portis, Westbrook...How do you rank these 3? (After keepers these are likely the 3 RBs I'll be choosing between unless a couple of other RBs slide to me)Jacobs and Westbrook have flags from injuries and Portis has a lot of tread on those tires despite being so young. Jacobs and Westbrook have bigger upside but Portis is a pretty consistent producer.
