I hate the Heels, but it's stupid to say they won't beat the shit out of the Citadel. If they don't, then as you said, it will be a LONG season for them.

Former tarhole arrested
Quote :
"LITTLETON, Colo. -- Denver Broncos rookie tight end Richard Quinn was required to spend the night in jail after being arrested on harassment and domestic violence charges.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department said Quinn was arrested early Monday afternoon after a woman called 911. The woman told deputies that her live-in boyfriend, Quinn, grabbed and shook her to the ground during an argument and grabbed the phone from her while she was trying to dial 911.

The 22-year-old woman told deputies that Quinn also grabbed her cell phone. She says she ran to another house in the suburban Denver neighborhood to call police.

Deputies say Quinn told them he grabbed the woman only after she started hitting him in the face, but had no visible marks on his face.

Quinn was ordered held overnight in jail without bond per Colorado law in domestic dispute cases. He was due in court Tuesday morning.

"This is a very unfortunate personal situation, but I'm extremely proud of the way Richard handled it," Peter Schaffer, Quinn's lawyer and agent, told The Associated Press on Monday night. "Richard defused what could have been an explosive situation given that their 1-year-old was in the apartment."

Schaffer said his client never struck his girlfriend, whom he said was distraught and "out of control." He said Quinn "went and locked himself and their 1-year-old daughter in the bedroom to get away from her."

"He never attacked her, never hit her," Schaffer said. "He did everything he and every other NFL rookie is taught in their symposiums. He never laid a hand on her or physically abused her or anything like that."

Schaffer didn't describe how the confrontation escalated, however.

"When all the facts come out, people will see that Richard did nothing legally wrong," Schaffer said. "His No. 1 concern right now is for the welfare of his daughter and to make sure there's no negative light put on the Denver Broncos organization or his family."

The Broncos were off Monday and team spokesman Patrick Smyth said the organization had no comment on Quinn's arrest.

Quinn was touted by coach Josh McDaniels on draft day as the type of player he wanted on his team because of his character.

A second-round pick out of North Carolina, Quinn played in all of the Broncos' preseason games and is listed as the third tight end on the depth chart behind Daniel Graham and Tony Scheffler."

i have no clue as to quinn's character or what really happened, but it's sad that a woman can make a call to the police and have a guy arrested for basically nothing but her word

Yeah, I hope my wife doesn't find out about that law.

It happened to a friend of mine in college... him and his girlfriend had a huge fight and they broke up. He ran outside her apartment but forgot his phone. Ran back and threw the door open and she was standing next to it and it hit her. She was pissed so she called the cops and he was arrested - it was mandatory. Her roommate ended up testifying that he didn't mean to hurt her but it was a PITA for sure.

i may be wrong (And often am), but i just don't think this line is gonna protect TJ or open up running holes the rest of the year.

We all witnessed what a great defense with no offense leads to; mediocrity. Clempson was a great example of that last year. Yates also does his best tent stake impression when he usually drops back to pass, so. These are all the indicators of potential epic fail especially as jizzed as their fans are after whooping on Citadel.

meh, i'll go with 7-8 wins, based on if we choke our last game of the season to them.

I don't consider UConn a huge test, but it will be interesting to see how their Oline holds up against a real defense.

If UConn had any semblence of a passing attack, I think they win fairly easy. But they don't, so I'm predicting Carolina in an ugly low-scoring game ... maybe 20-13

UNC beat them last year 38-12.

Sagarin (too early, I know, but just because) has them basically even in the predictor, so UCONN would win by the home team advantage.

If UNC wins it, it'll be something like 13-7.

Sched Strength(Rank out of 245 teams)

UNC -> 53.12( 145)
NCSU -> 78.84( 37)

if we both got 7-5, or 8-4 unc will def be going back to the tire bowl while we have fun at a real bowl 2002 style.

V good point. When it comes to UNC, why would you want to confuse the issues with the facts.

it does change week to week but our SOS will still be higher

we have two 1-AA teams, but our OOC also includes South Carolina and Pitt, who are much more respectable 1-A opponents than Citadel and ECU...oh yeah and you guys still have to play Georgia Southern

our acc schedule is pretty rough too. we get every team that's expected to be good except miami, who I actually would feel the best about out of VPI/GT/FSU for this team. Maybe even throw in Clemson and Maryland who we have trouble beating. oh and we miss virginia this year

GT and USC are similar. If we can put 17 points on the board against them we'll win. I don't see them beating us with their run style offense this season.

If we can shutdown the passing that Maryland does I think we'll beat them this year.

FSU, same deal. We lost to them last year b/c the refs let them have about 10 holding penalties not called. Which is why they got about 100 1st downs on us last year.

I still think we can beat all 3 of these teams if we play how we are supposed to play.

^^^ pretty sure citadel is 1-aa, but uconn is 1-a. and yeah, the OOC isn't particularly special, but we've got VT, FSU, miami, and GT. that's a pretty tough slate

i'd rather have another 1-a team instead of ga. southern, but it's better than getting waxed by texas, louisville, and utah in the same year like bunting did

Uhh we don't play Georgia Tech this year so unless we meet in the championship game we don't have to worry about stopping their run.

Quote :
"North Carolina starting fullback Bobby Rome and reserve defensive tackle Jordan Nix tested positive for "probable" H1N1 influenza, more commonly known as swine flu, the university announced on Friday.

They did not practice this week and will not be traveling to Connecticut for Saturday's game. This is the second known case of swine flu in the ACC, as Duke -- which is only about eight miles away from Chapel Hill -- had more than 30 players diagnosed with it this summer.

ACC blog

Dinich ESPN.com's Heather Dinich writes about all things ACC in her conference blog.

• Blog network:
College Football Nation

Cases of swine flu have also been reported on campuses at both Maryland and Virginia, but when asked this week if any players had been affected, Virginia coach Al Groh said no. The Washington Post reported on Tuesday that Virginia had 55 cases of "flu-like illnesses."

"We've discussed it," Groh told reporters on his Thursday morning teleconference. "We've discussed some of things the players can do, and the impact would have on the team should it affect our team the way it has others."

None of the Maryland players has been affected, according to a school spokesman, but coach Ralph Friedgen said he was concerned about the possibility.

"You just worry about how devastating it is if it gets contagious on our team and our coaching staff," Friedgen told reporters at his weekly Tuesday news conference. "I'm trying not to panic on it, but I'm concerned about it."

"Every institution, every school, every elementary school and college is going to be fighting this all fall," Duke coach David Cutcliffe said last week. "We had 30-plus guys that had had it, and had come through, so we're hoping we don't have to face that again. We had a few coaches that got it, though they were able to stay at work and stay through it, though not very comfortably.

"Our poor trainer who was right in the middle of it got hammered with it. Of course he was treating those kids and all around it. Camp is hard. But you throw the H1N1 in there with it, it kind of made it a little difficult for everybody but I was amazed at how well everyone involved handled the adversity of dealing with it.""

^^ That's what I've been saying to everyone who brings up UNC...They have no offense. Those who think Yates can carry the offense by himself are only fooling themselves. Their offense last year depended almost entirely on Tate and Nicks. Those guys could make me look good at qb. Let's see what Yates can do by himself. And I emphasize by himself because their rb, Shaun Draughan, is going to be even more average now that he doesn't have a quality line to run behind.

sorry JC, only the M.I.A. center would make a small difference, maybe, but none of the other "starters" out amount to much (yet).

at worst, it should be 9-0, if not a UCONN TD on one of those drives. Now i know what its like to be a UNCCH fan, there corners/safeties play 10 yards off and get INT's on tipped balls

He also injured himself celebrating a rushing TD by Draughn last season. Same type of thing where he jumped up and turned his ankle when he came down. Worst part was the TD was called back due to a holding call against Nicks. lol Hope the injury is not too serious as Pianalto is our best weapon in the passing game.

Dyer, Cooper, and Rome are all huge losses in the running game. We look to establish the run to set up the passing game and we weren't able to do that against UConn. Our O-line was admittedly dreadful today. All three of those guys should return next week and I expect the running game to be much improved from today. Pass pro will be much better as well. I was just happy to get out of there with a W today.
