Dude, the G8 is a Holden with smallish twin nostrils put on the hood. And that's basically it.The general consensus from most automoblie mags is that the new Accord is pretty ugly. I haven't read anything about the G8 being tacky.
4/30/2009 2:28:45 PM
You act like Holden is a name to be revered. It's just GM's Australia division. The GTO and G8 GT aren't going to change that fact.
4/30/2009 2:52:26 PM
my car is perty!!!
4/30/2009 2:54:56 PM
No no, I'm not "talking like Holden is a revered brand". I know exactly what Holden is. My point is that it wasn't designed as some typical Pontiac (see: tacky with excessive tailpipes, strafes, plastic cladding).
4/30/2009 4:56:22 PM
The G8 GT is nice. I bought one because I was unimpressed by the blandness of the Accord, Camry, etc. If you want to blend in with the rest of the population and drive one of those, okay. The G8 is definitely not lumped in with that bunch.

opinions are like assholes i tell ya. i happen to think the new accords are pretty sharp. but others think they look too <insert car jargon here> and that's fine by me. ultimately, i think it's a hot car and i feel hot[ter] driving it, and since i'm the one on the hook for 5yrs making payments on that beautiful hunk of metal, it's a good thing i feel the way i do.

you should take a picture of yourself in your new [whip] and post it up. Let us be the judges of hot or not.

there will be pictures this weekend if the rain holds off. if not, it'll be the next nice sunny weekend.(i'm married, my hottness should be irrelevant)
5/1/2009 9:42:01 AM
Haha. I'm married too! Doesn't mean I can't appreciate beauty when I see it... Take mother earth for example... Some days, she is just oh so beautiful. Sometimes she get's so hot I turn on the AC in the house. Other days, I say, " WTF. GET RID OF THOSE STORM CLOUDS YO! You look like SHIT!" I may be married, but that won't evar stop me from appreciating a woman like mother earth as well as all the other women of the homosapien species. Sense. you make perfect sense, but that doesn't mean eleusis won't want to beat you up for admiring his wife's hottness

Why should he be jealous? eleusis should be all like, "Hell yeah. Damn right she's all mine, suckers." Anyways, I have lookalikes running around town. He can't find me Nevermind. [Edited on May 1, 2009 at 10:08 AM. Reason : /]

when i got my car, there was a paint chip on the edge of the left front quarter panel that happened "so they say" during the transportation of the vehicle from wilmington to cary. whatever, they said they'd fix it and they did. the problem is i can tell where they fixed it, it's a small spot, smaller than the tip of my pinky finger, but it's a darker color than the rest of the car. they said if i don't like it, they can re-paint the whole quarter panel, but then i run the risk of it looking drastically different than the rest of the car since it won't be "factory" or whatever.take a look at the picture, tell me what you think. remember, this spot is literally like 1/10 of an inch, if that. it's small, but still - i can see it and it bugs me. is it wrong to ask the dealer to just replace the whole quarter panel? will doing so make the value of my car go down? would they do it if i asked, or is it unreasonable to ask them to do that? painting the whole quarter panel is out of the question, as i'm pretty sure that it would look totally different and i don't want that.tell me what you think!
5/3/2009 3:12:52 PM
If they fade the paint into the hood well you will never notice. My experiences with Honda have been pretty shitty so I would personally keep it as is.
5/3/2009 4:02:40 PM
my husband says i should call honda and have them replace the quarter panel.my dad thinks i should suck it up, admit they did the best they could, and just be done with it - he says it doesn't stick out unless you're really looking for it.opinions?
5/3/2009 11:58:30 PM
If the imperfection bothers you, have the fender replaced. They're paying for it, after all. But they may not be able to perfectly match the paint finish, since the factory job was done by a robot. Keep in mind, you're going to get dings and scratches on the car, so you can't let every little one bother you. If I had something like that, I would need a Honda paint rep to convince me that they can make it look like nothing was done. Otherwise, I'd just try to forget about it.
5/4/2009 12:46:05 AM
i got Ding Monkey on my car, which basically says they'll come to my office and fix any ding, dent, scratch, scuff, etc for free for the next 5 years. yes, i am that anal about little imperfections. but i suppose i can let this go. it would be a hassle convincing them to replace the quarter panel, and then i do run the risk of it not matching, and ultimately that's worse than the tiny color difference. i mean, the spot is smooth, they did a good job, it just looks like the guy smoothed on the color with his finger
5/4/2009 9:19:15 AM
ive got the same color -- but a coupe. good color choice
5/4/2009 10:46:13 AM
yeah man and i love how my spoiler is there, but not there. like you look at the ass and you think, hmm that's nice...oh hey hey, there's a spoiler. [Edited on May 4, 2009 at 10:49 AM. Reason : /]
5/4/2009 10:49:05 AM
if you have a service to remove dings from your car for 5 years that chip is going to bother you more than you are admitting.
5/4/2009 6:43:08 PM
i don't really understand a. why someone would spend so much $ on such a plain car and b. why it's such a huge deal. i mean, it's a fucking honda accord.. everybody sees 1023948 of them every day. they blend in with every other mid size family car on the road today
5/4/2009 6:53:49 PM
Spending 30 grand is a pretty huge deal to anyone I know. Why are you so offended?
5/4/2009 7:05:03 PM
I don't see the problem with someone being concerned with the condition of something they just purchased NEW. The amount of cars on the road really has nothing to do with the condition of the vehicle P.S. I'd get the fucking panel replaced asap, and I'd make them apologize for doing such a shitty job.
5/4/2009 7:34:34 PM
it's not really a "chip" anymore. now it's just a smooth spot with a slightly different color to it.^what happens when the panel they order for me is off in color? then what?
5/4/2009 7:39:09 PM
first of all a professional could do a much better job of that, hell i could do a lot batter job of repairing that chip, second, fuck it, get them to take it off the price of the car, or walk
5/4/2009 7:44:23 PM
5/4/2009 7:53:38 PM
I dont think you should worry about a new panel not matching, and even if it doesnt...keep replacing or tell them you want some cash back
5/4/2009 8:07:45 PM
i will call the dealer tomorrow and see what i can do about replacing the quarter panel
5/4/2009 8:08:09 PM
so i figure i'll go into it like this. please tell me if there's anything else i can say to make my case. i'm really not good at asserting myself. :/the paint was chipped during transportation, but you said you'd fix it. i didn't get any $$ off the cost of the car as a result of the "blemish" on the front left quarter panel, and it's still not fixed from what i can see. sanding it down and repainting the whole quarter panel in shop would just result in a very distinct color difference, much like you see on the small spot that's there now. so the only thing i can think of is to order a new quarter panel from the factory.
5/4/2009 8:16:02 PM
eh, it's very possible they can match the paint by painting it--a good shop DEFINITELY can. it'd be BEST to get one from the factory but I'm not sure how that actually works with exterior parts (the place I work for does interior parts so that's all i know and it's possibly different).but yea, make sure to just point out that THEY promised to fix it and did not follow through. i would not be happy with a blemish on a brand new car personally
5/4/2009 9:37:08 PM
my dad says to suck it up and deal with it. but it does really bug me.
5/4/2009 10:28:22 PM
It's a honda. I'm pretty sure any aftermarket paint work is going to show itself in 10 years. It will be the section of the car not failing .

I hate the chrome/aluminum trim that they're putting around the window frames again. After e30 owners spent the last 20 years painting that junk black the car manufacturers have started doing it again. I noticed it on the latest VW's, Hyundais, etc. as well. It's like they're trying to copy Buick's design team or some shit.
5/5/2009 10:30:29 AM
Wow, really? My dad isn't much for the Family Sedan type of car, he's been a Camaro and/or Mustang owner for the last 20 years. But he said the chrome trim and the chrome door handles are what he likes best. Opinions are like assholes I guess.
5/5/2009 10:31:35 AM
5/5/2009 10:36:28 AM
Huh? He likes Camaros, then they stopped making it so he switched to the Mustang. How does that prove your point? I don't see your point, other than every car company trying to mimic Buick or something. WTF, pls to explain.
5/5/2009 10:37:36 AM
^^^^ I personally LOVE the chrome/aluminum trim around the windows. My car looks soooo much better with it. Here's what I have (not MY car, but it's almost identical...have the sunroof window guard thing, and the small lights at the bottom in those slots):[Edited on May 7, 2009 at 1:08 AM. Reason : .]

^see, that's something i need to know. i just assumed they came painted.if they don't come painted, and the dealership has to paint it themselves, then there's no point ordering a new panel when they can just repaint the current one.blah i don't like this
