Any violation occuring is going to be pinned to the head coach JB, you used to be objective, but this is ridiculous. Did Bobby Bowden pass those test answers along to his players, no, did Pete Carrol buy Reggie Bush a house, no. Any and everything that happens is pinned directly to the head coach. Kiffin's comments about Pahokee in general weren't too kind. The fact that the principal is a Gator is even more reason to be on your best behavior and makes him look worse IMO. I still wonder about his motives with regards to Florida. You know Florida is going to win by 3+ TD's, no clue as to how this can benefit him. Everyone knows who UT is, I didn't know they needed recruiting help.
5/20/2009 1:29:10 PM
didnt know they needed recruiting help???everything has been downhill since the 4-5 run of great recruiting classes after winning the national championship in 98. Up until this incoming top ten recruiting class, we have been WAY behind everyone else in the SEC. This is ridiculous, and Tennessee as an organization would not keep calling themselves on these violations if they thought it was a big deal. OH NO! A new recruit made headlines and was referred to all over the internet!!! What is this going to make other recruits think?!?!?!

Who gives a shit whether Kiffin typed the message on twitter himself or not? The poster mentioned a commitment's name, that's it. Another secondary violation that Kiffin made was when he stated that Bryce Brown was a "great player" and that great players like Pryor (ohio state) will take longer to commit. Oh Noes! The other secondary violation was the use of a smoke machine and a simulated press conference during a mass recruiting weekend. These violations amount up to exactly NOTHING.[Edited on May 20, 2009 at 3:52 PM. Reason : ']

5 ncaa violations since december 1stLOL
5/20/2009 4:28:31 PM
count how times your team has been on tv, or in the national media for ANY REASON since december 1st. then compare your recruiting success since then.then compare your recruiting class next year after more and more of the same.

^^el oh elWE SHOULD COMMIT A VAST AMOUNT OF RECRUITING VIOLATIONS BECAUSE IT'S EXPOSURE!!!or maybe the program will be under constant scrutiny by the NCAA until Kiffin leaves because the guy can't be trusted to do anything right as shown by the 5 violations in 5 months[Edited on May 20, 2009 at 5:14 PM. ^^ no, not that... but what he said has gotten people's attention, so then, once he does anything, including the minor violations (that go on all over the place), he gets attention. And the program (and all other programs in the SEC outside of Vandy) are already under constant scrutiny... and they have self reported their violations^ well no shit, but you would rather take your chances with a highly ranked class than a lower class[Edited on May 20, 2009 at 5:20 PM. 5/20/2009 5:18:13 PM
i'm sure your recruiting class was ranked much higher than ours going into last year toohow'd that work out for you?
5/20/2009 5:20:22 PM
actually, it might not have been...but that still doesnt mean anything in regards to, on average, one would rather have a highly ranked recruiting class and see what happens on the field than a bad class and see what happens
5/20/2009 5:24:40 PM
i'm just not too big a fan of coming off a losing season and bragging about recruitingi'm sure they have great players coming in but until they do something in a game, i dont care
5/20/2009 5:38:41 PM
Well, this staff has to brag about recruiting success because they are a new staff and the team hasn't played a game under the new system. For right now, recruiting and press exposure is all they can talk about for this team. And 7 touchdowns? I'll take that bet. What do you want to put on it?
5/20/2009 6:01:04 PM
allow me to counter offer:i bet Florida hangs more than 50 points on Tennessee and wins by at least 4 TDs
5/20/2009 6:02:51 PM
if I wasnt on here no one would have even noticed the big bad violation... troll away
5/20/2009 6:20:38 PM
You are right about that. The only reason UT is even remotely relevant to me is because of this thread. Other than that, news about them would go in one ear and out the other. It is not just UT I do not like. I look for faults with any school (except probably Barton and Davidson) that are advocated for on this site and not named NC State.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4197615so i guess this is the guy that is falling on the grenade for the latest recruiting blunder. I actually like Tennessee football but 5 violations since January is a little ridiculous; especially when you haven't coached one game yet

It's in college football's best interest for Kiffin to fail miserably at UT. Back to the recruiting mess, no one has a huge problem with his Urban bashing, kind of funny. But to sit here and defend Kiffin when he talks about how Urban was commiting violations with regards to that NewKeese guy? JB, you get on here and say that these are all minor violations that Kiffin has committed and that we are all trolls? Then how exactly would you describe Kiffin's choice to criticize Urban's recruting tactics on TV. If the media are all trolls, then Kiffin's no better, and he brought it up this issue to boot, so is he the ultra Troll? Moral of the story, I could care less if he says Urban fondles sheep, that's all fun and games. Just don't accuse him of impropriety in his profession when you do the same. And certainly don't have members of your fanbase call other whistle blowers in the media "trolls" when you're coach is the ultimate troll. The bigger issue is the precedent he's starting. If Kiffin has success with his reckless mouth and classless character, then other coaches will pick up on it and it will perpetuate throughout the game which would be disaster to me. What's going to happen is that Florida will hang 50 on UT, and Kiffin will say that Urban has no integrity and cry because he ran up the score, you're not going to see too many two way roads with Kiffin. I'd be embarassed to have this guy as a coach, but if that's what it takes to recruit and subsequently win, then college football needs to re examine the landscape. Like I said, I don't mind the careless bickering and chest thumping he projects, but don't corss that line and say that Urban is breaking rules and violating NCAA policy, especially if you're doing it ten times over.
5/22/2009 1:55:15 PM
he's basically doing everything that Pete Carroll does, almost to a tee... but one is in LA where college football is an afterthought, and the other is in the deep south where it is a religion. Thats the only difference. Spurrier said similiar if not worse things about all the other coaches, especially Fulmer and Donnan, only difference is he is a good old boy, not an SEC outsider, with him it was "aw shucks, the Old Ball Coach is at it again!", but with Kiffin its a "brash outsider". Of course he is trolling (if you want to call it that), that's exactly what he is wanting to do. Tennessee has been HORRIBLE 2 out of the last 3 years and was no longer relative on the scale that they should be in a normal year and recruiting had gone to shit.
5/22/2009 2:14:57 PM
5/22/2009 2:22:58 PM
that would make sense if he never talked trash BEFORE winning the National Championship... too bad he did though.
5/22/2009 2:26:27 PM
^fair enough, I'm not old enough to remember what Spurrier did and didn't say in the early 90s but he did win SEC titles in 4 of his first 6 seasons...if Kiffin wins a NC or comes close to winning that many conference titles then his shit talking will have been justified but I'm more than a little skeptical that that will happen.[Edited on May 22, 2009 at 2:34 PM. 5/22/2009 2:31:52 PM
Hell, if anything Spurrier might have calmed down after winning the NC
5/22/2009 2:32:59 PM
didnt Spurrier cal UT "free t-shirt university" or something along those lines?
5/22/2009 2:40:00 PM

5/22/2009 3:43:54 PM
This is cool... I don't have to "pretend" to hate UT anymore for trolling purposes.Lane Kiffin is a more overt scummer than Jim Calhoun, even... Can't wait to see UF hang 70 on 'em... I hope Meyer doesn't even acknowledge Kiffin after the game.
5/22/2009 3:57:03 PM
All this "Hang 70 on 'em" stuff is fucking hilarious. There is no way on god's green earth that will happen. Will UT lose to Florida, almost certainly. Will the game even be close, probably not. But seriously folks, let's get a grip on reality here. I believe a realistic score would be something along the lines of UF - 34 UT - 13. Tennessee should realistically go 8-4 or 7-5 this season. The talent level just isn't there right now to contend for the SEC. However, I fully expect to be a top 10 team in 2011.
