5/9/2009 8:09:38 PM
^^ I got some FMJ .45 if you need it, jarhead.
5/9/2009 11:32:17 PM
you selling, or swapping for my hollow points?
5/9/2009 11:37:21 PM
Really looking for some 9mm target trash
5/10/2009 12:51:43 AM
Target trash? you mean 9mm blazer or WWB? good luck. I got my 6 boxes of BB 9mm as the walmart was limiting sales.
5/10/2009 1:10:54 AM
if anyone sees .380 Auto get it and I will pay you for it.Or if anyone wants to go in with a bulk purchase, I'd be willing to split it (50/50). I haven't seen dealers with any in stock, but there are some bulk packages on gunbroker (though they appear to be going for $0.50 - $0.75 per round )
5/10/2009 4:43:35 PM
I fucked up and ordered some .38 special somehow. I've got 100 rounds of Winchester FMJ coming my way soon.Someone please start bidding nevermind! it's going to be 380 like it was supposed to be! [Edited on May 10, 2009 at 6:48 PM. Reason : .]

Finally starting to see more .223 and uncommon handgun calibers in stock around the walmarts here. Is the ammo shitstorm finally slowing down?
5/10/2009 7:47:35 PM
I've heard a few guys saying that they think it's slowing down. I still can't find much 380 auto though
5/10/2009 9:12:44 PM
380 nobody stocked much of it. No military uses it, EVERYONE who makes little guns makes a 380, and production of it is low. Even when ammo was easy to get, I would see maybe 5 boxes inc HP ammo for 380, and might see up to 5-6 CASES of some other ammo
5/10/2009 10:51:05 PM
I just need some range rounds, so if anybody sees some, please pick it up
5/11/2009 6:00:28 AM
found some on glocktalk$120 for 150. Not really a good deal, but I an get it for you if you want.
5/11/2009 1:45:28 PM
eh, I think I'll let that slide. I'm seeing $0.50-$0.75/rnd which I'm not really happy about. Right now I'm limiting to $0.65/rnd. [Edited on May 11, 2009 at 3:42 PM. Reason : .]

Zebulon walmart has 9mm, 40 and 45 in stock. As of 5 min ago. 9mm/40 are blazer brass, 45 is the WWB 100 packs. He said they had 1 case left of 45, 2 cases of 9mm left, 1-2 cases of 40, I am gonna go do some snagging
5/14/2009 8:37:18 PM
the range down here has all the major calibers in stock. In .45 acp, he has Wolf for $18.50/box, and PMC hollow for something more expensive (I think they might be JHP, but I'm not sure). He has Remington, Winchester, and PMC in other calibers, though.
5/14/2009 8:56:18 PM
Zebulon had 10 boxes of 9mm left when I got there at 9:15, all blazer, no blazer 40, 10 boxes of WWB 40, 100 rd val packs, 12 or so boxes of WWB 45 val packs, and some 223 val packs, 100 rds for 39. I got 5 of the 9mm and a box of 45, they had the 6 box limit. Hit newbern Ave walmart, they had 10 boxes of Blazer 9mm, that was it. No 45, no 40, etc. I spent till 10:15 waiting for a manager since nobody was staffing and got those.
5/14/2009 11:07:34 PM
it's funny that your pistol misfeeds on those JHPs...mine jams with the WWB, but has a voracious appetite for the Gold Dots.
5/14/2009 11:18:22 PM
380, anyone?

I need to just get an XD 45 if I am gonna keep shooting 45, or an M&P, having shot both in 45, an owning the XD in 9mm, all of those guns have just gobbled up every ammo I have fed them.

5/24/2009 10:19:00 AM
^^ get the HK .45
5/24/2009 12:57:36 PM
^ Why would I buy an HK product? I do not own any right now, I tend to stick tot he brands that I own and have good luck with, or in the case of the XD, brands I own, models I own, and pistols that multiple other folks I know have, thus commonality of magazines.
5/24/2009 2:17:10 PM
You really should look into an HK. My concealed carry instructor had a HK p7 that handled great and was accurate. He uses it as his competition gun and daily carrying gun. Now here's the shocking part. He said he had put over 360,000 rounds through it in the past 15 years.
5/24/2009 5:11:05 PM
^ so I should look at a gun that is a squeeze cocker, and that is currently only produced as a small caliber single stack? I already own LOTS of 9mm sized pistols, all of which have been 100% reliable for me. I own 1 pistol, a 45, that has issues with certain ammo types. This to me means I can either get a 'true' 1911, which will also, depending on model and magazine, have some feed issues with some ammo types, or get an XD that will feel just like my main 9mm, same controls, and feed 100% of the time based on the multiple 45 XD's i have used in the past. EVERY h&k i have seen for sale, even used, has been priced well above comparable guns from other makers. Every P7 I have seen has been priced at 1.5-2.5 times what a basic single stack 9mm sells for from other makers. I feel confident carrying a pistol in condition 1 or condition 0. I own several guns that do not have ANY manual safety, thus they live at condition 0 at all times. And 360k rounds, of 9mm, of 15 years is 2k a month. Great if you have a sponsor as a shooting sports competitor, but unless that was 100% reloads, a bit much for the casual shooter like myself. I would rather put 2k rounds a month total through my entire collection, not just 1 gun. That $72,000 worth of ammo could have been better used to put to the side while shooting a 22 LR kitted gun.[Edited on May 24, 2009 at 6:04 PM. Reason : further]

5/24/2009 10:36:45 PM
the shocking part about the hk would probably be how many parts and rebuilds the gun went throughany gun has some wear and tear
5/24/2009 10:48:22 PM
for all you nay sayers about 360,000 rounds. He is a well respected gun smith back home, if not the best. He is the best pistol gunsmith hands down and one of the best for rifles and shotguns. He is also half owner of a gun store, is at the range at least every other day, and teaches all of the concealed carry classes in my area. So yes the gun has probably been rebuilt a couple times. But it just goes to show you what a quality gun and proper care will hold up to. It is an H&K P7M10 in .40 S&W. He does all his own reloading and gets free brass from the range so his costs of shooting is minimal. And I am sure he does have some sponsors. I was only telling you because anybody I have ever know to have an H&K loved it hands down. So if you want a good reliable hand gun, then buy quality the first time. He also spoke very highly of the XD pistols and I agree with him. after shooting my brothers XD9 I realized just how reliable they are. It didnt jam one single time after 500 rounds that day.
5/25/2009 12:49:05 AM
I was speaking mroe that I have had plenty of pistols that are NOT H&K, and in fact the pistol I grew up on was a Colt Combat Commander, 4 inch 1911 in 38 super. Made right here in the USA. I just have never seen a reason to pay more than 500-600 for a NICE handgun, and at that price I expect a spare magazine and possibly a holster with it. For low end, I can get a KelTec for $300 or less NIB. FAR to many folks have become convinced that the more costly H&K, take or leave the polygonal rifling aspect, is automatically superior to a M&P or XD, or even a glock for those who like the other grip angle option. A squeeze cocker, as compared to a SAP external hammered, or a striker fired, be it SAO or half cock DAO, or a DAO internal hammer, or hell, a SA/DA combo gun, all will handle differently, different trigger pull, different method of handling the gun. I jsut happen to find the squeeze cocker 9mm/32/380/22/40 H&K's to be off feeling in my hand, too long a grip for the guns overall size. For some its a perfect fit, but in my case its jsut not the right fit. Same with glocks, some love them, they don't point well for me. My best friend I grew up with shoots his glock great, his keltec ok, and cannot point shoot my XD. He needs the glock grip angle to fit his hand position. The ONLY issues I have with H&K are: 1} that they tend to be more costly than the comparable guns from other makers; 2} they do not fit my hand as well or point as naturally as some other guns do for me; 3} Their proponents and owners have often on other boards I read bashed every other brand while promoting their own. I feel that any gun that fits my hand, will hit my target with MOST ammo, go bang every trigger pull no matter what, and fits my budget is a GOOD gun. It can be a tricked out race gun, or a keltec that I had to fluff and buff and hand fit to tune in, or a cheap CZ52, they all go bang.
5/25/2009 1:01:24 AM
^Exactly my son, exactly. The H&K .45, as an overall package, has never impressed me particularly much. My cousin has one and I really like the way it shoots and feels. It's incredibly easy for me to go from my Glock 26 and Glock 17 over to the H&K .45 and still shoot properly. These guns have extremely similar feels to them and shoot so similarly it's ridiculous. Note that I have never, ever, had a failure with any of my 9mm Glocks though. Then note that I have seen the H&K have a few failures before and I've seen it perform terribly with certain loads (Worse than any load has ever performed in either of my Glocks and I've tried out a ridiculous number of 9mm loads). I'm sure somebody with an H&K has had the opposite experience though, where their H&K has never failed but they've seen a Glock fail, lol. Anyway, Glocks are super-reliable and reasonably priced. Yes, the H&K's are good guns, but they're too expensive and they don't offer any particular improvement over the well-made lesser priced guns to justify the increased cost IMO. Glock, M&P, XD and even Kel-Tec produce some very reliable handguns. My preference has always gone to Glock because I shoot well with them, have had good experiences with them and above all else I trust the shit out of them (And even moreso when they're chambered in 9mm ).After firing an H&K Compact back to back with my Glocks, it's impossible to not be impressed with the way both designs feel when shooting. But then you start thinking about how that Glock 17 comes with 17 rounds of 9mm in each magazine and can accept the 33 round factory magazines. The H&K .45 has a ridiculously low capacity and a ridiculously high price when you realize how similar it is to a Glock. Hell, even the Glock 26 has a couple more bullets in it and it's far more concealable, hundreds of dollars cheaper and it's just as, if not more, reliable. Often I feel like the people buying these low capacity H&K .45's are those who have convinced themselves that the .45ACP is somehow a much more powerful cartridge than the 9mm. They decide that they don't need more than 8 rounds because they have such a powerful cartridge. Unfortunately for them, that's a pile of bullshit. They could have had an excellent 9mm instead, which would have offered similar "terminal performance," slightly less recoil (It's not that big of a difference though IMO), cheaper ammunition and a stupidly high magazine capacity. The other problem I always run into when looking at .45's is that I'd much rather have a gun chambered 10mm. So, if I take a look at a Glock 21, I end up saying to myself, "Why would you buy this Glock 21SF when you could have the same frame chambered in 10mm and get an additional 2 rounds in each mag?" I just don't see enough of a performance difference between the 9mm and the .45ACP to justify buying one right now. The 10mm on the other hand, offers a significant power increase over the 9mm/.40S&W/.45ACP and something along the lines of a slight gain, no change or a slight decrease in magazine capacity when compared to the "standard 3 semi-auto handgun calibers". This is the one other semi-auto handgun caliber that I really want to have something chambered in, I think it's one of the most impressive and versatile semi-auto handgun calibers available (Especially for people who make their own loads). Now that S&W has put the model 610 back out, I'd really like to have one. Maybe a Glock 20SF, a Glock 29 (SF if possible!) and a S&W Model 610 in both 4" and 6" barrel lengths would make a nice collection of 10mm firearms. Those would all be capable of handling Double Tap's nasty, nasty 10mm loads. Then I'd just need to find a carbine chambered in 10mm. ]

since yall two seem to know your shit about pistols. What do yall think of the Beretta 92fs or Taurus pt92 or pt 100? I have only shot a 92fs once but it fit my hand perfectly. What are yalls opinions on these guns?
5/25/2009 2:38:02 PM
I have a significant amount of experience with the 92fs. I've never owned one, but the M9 service pistol is the same thing, and I've probably put a couple thousand rounds through various M9s.They're OK, but I personally prefer a SIG P226 (which I have owned), and I think almost everyone I know who has experience with both agrees.
5/25/2009 2:55:50 PM
I don't have much experience with the 92, but it seems to be a good full size 9mm. It's not my first choice by any means and I have no plans to purchase one, but I'd certainly hang onto one if it were given to me.I've heard that the Taurus clone is pretty good as well. You can tell that Taurus lacks the overall quality of some higher end manufacturers, especially in terms of fit and finish. It's not that the guns are complete garbage (Although they have managed to put out some lemons) necessarily, but you can tell that the quality just isn't quite as good as higher end handguns, particularly in areas where it doesn't matter as much.My Taurus M44 (Non-Tracker model, 6 shot) shoots extremely well and has an excellent trigger. But things like the hammer and the cylinder release have a slightly ugly look to them up close because the "stipling" (I cannot think of another word for it right now) isn't perfectly symmetrical. It seems like it is slightly offset to the side. These are minor details and as long as you don't mind little stuff like that, Taurus may be a good choice. I've heard of people having great experiences with them and I've also heard of some really piss poor experiences. One thing is for sure, it will take longer to get the gun back if it needs warranty repairs. I've heard of 6+ weeks being standard, so keep that in mind. Also keep in mind the fact that it's probably more likely that it will need to be sent back than something like a Glock would be.I don't particularly like Taurus' semi-auto's that much anyway though, so I'd stay away from them personally. If I were to get a 92, I'd just get the Beretta. But honestly, there are other options that are probably better. If you like longer barrels, try to find a used Glock 17L (6" barrel!) or a new/used Glock 34 (5.3" barrel). My Glock 17 is going to end up with a 34 or 17L barrel soon here. ]

I have 26 boxes of 9mm lead ball, remanufactured by 3-D ammo for sale for $8.00 per box. I bought it long ago and found that my P7-M13 wouldn't handle the lead ball. It has been stored in GI cans in the basement since then. The Sig 225 runs well with it, cleaner than Blazer and Rem, but I have MORE than I will ever live to shoot.7874965
5/26/2009 9:59:40 AM
5/26/2009 11:47:00 AM
Well, they still perform quite well out of shorter barrels when compared with the 9mm/.40S&W/.45ACP, so I'm not sure on the point. I'd still take a Glock 29 over a Glock 30. I'd still take a Glock 20 over a Glock 21. Yes, the 10mm would enjoy more barrel though. That's why I'd snag a 6" barrel for the Glock 20 when I made the order for my Double Tap 10mm loads, if I had one. But yeah, like a lot of loads, they like to have a longer barrel. This is why I'd like to see a carbine chambered in 10mm for once instead of .40S&W! ]
5/26/2009 11:50:53 AM
I have sorted out about 20+ 10mm hulls if anyone wants them. I will be near campus this afternoon or can leave them at the curb. 7874965

3-D 9mm 115 ball ammo is gone.
5/28/2009 8:45:10 AM
How much are you guys paying for a box of WWB 9mm?
5/31/2009 6:27:23 PM
Personally, nothing more than Walmart prices. $20 plus tax for 100. My target loads work fine off of Blazer which Walmart seems to have an unending supply of, so I tend to just wait until the Winchester is in stock to get it.
5/31/2009 6:30:22 PM
got an E-mail saying Midway had 380ACP in stock. I was all excited until:Buffalo Bore Ammunition 380 ACP +P 100 Grain Flat Nose Box of 20 for $23.49
6/1/2009 12:19:12 PM
Actually, that's not a bad load at all for pocket guns (Where sub-par penetration is often an issue). The flat nose can help it pop through bones rather than go around them too. Cost is up there too, sure. Although Buffalo Bore ammo is always pretty pricey and you know how hard it is to find handgun ammo right now. ]
6/1/2009 2:31:36 PM
yeh, the brand is worth a little extra, but I'm still hesitant to pay anything over $0.75/round since I'm just looking for range rounds.

PLEASE ORDER 4 BOXES FOR ME IF YOU'RE IN RALEIGH AND DON'T MIND HELPING OUT!http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=331858380acp. I'll pay you back for the ammo + shipping. 4 is the limit/customer. you must sign into midway to purchase ammo.
