And I am all set for some drinking this weekend. Though during the day I'll be somewhat occupied; I'm putting the GSR through its paces racing off road in a RallyX, lol.

I'm on pace to finish plate #1 in about 8 months (July 09 - March 10). Not too bad, I guess

tap nite this week is triangle brewing cask ale...it's also the M.O.U. launch party, but i'm not sure what that is/means (though it likely means something only for members)

in any case, i'll likely be there

after visiting the Saucer in Raleigh last Friday i totally had forgotten how much more spacious it is than the Charlotte one. I'm very jealous Charlotte saucer is like standing in a train car.

yeah they are unveiling new perks/rewards for UFO members. Though most of the new rewards from what i was told are more for multiple plates, not really effecting the 50/100 range.

and i was disappointed Stone wasn't the brewery last night, instead it was Ska Modus Hoperandi. Definitely a run of the mill IPA. Oh well, another glass on the shelf

$15/goblet is ridiculous for beer that is common, relatively inexpensive, and certainly nothing special in the taste department

So tonight was supposed to be my UFO Plate party. I finished Feb 1st. Went in the next day and filled out my application but didnt write in the date of my party. Instead, I emailed them the next day (Feb 3rd) and asked to reserve my party for the 24th at 6:00. They said no prob.

Tonight, I go in at about 5:45. Its fucking packed. I told the waitress I was supposed to have a reserved spot and she grabs the manager. He comes out and is really frazzled. He says somehow my email and UFO plate form have gotten lost. So we have no table, and I have no plate.

Luckily, I came out on the better end of the deal. We got the party moved to a later time, they took care of our party's first round, and I got my tab taken care of for the night. The manager was really apologetic, but I told him I understood it was a big glass night. He said, speaking of that, I will grab you a glass. So I got a Holy Grail out of the situation as well.

It kind of sucked that I didnt have my party tonight (especially that some of my friends came out on work nights from other cities) but I got a free Monty Python glass and about $35 tab taken care of, so I can't really complain.

We got there about the same time and I had to get a table before the people left! I went up and asked the guy if he was checking out and he said and feel free to sit down so no one else takes it. It was fucking PACKED early.

Sweet glass though...

** The manager on duty was a pretty good friend of my group. We've known him for like 8 years... good guy but I can imagine they weren't expecting to be that slammed that early.

Charlotte was extra packed early too. Got there at 5:30 and it was ass to elbows by 6. Thankfully we had a table.

I've not had the new system explained to me, but it seems that a 3peat shirt is due me, and a 5IVER will be in another 150 beers... but I'm not ready to scale that $1000 wall

I, did, however, camp out at 4:45 to secure a table for what became eight for tonight's festivities... not bad for having been up since 5 AM today, whew.

Every so often there'll be a musical guest, or on a busy night such as St. Patricks or New Years, there'll be a cover. Way to save $2, which was covered under the older UFO club coverageTM as well.

how much were they charging for the goblet in Raleigh. I'd like to compare.

and ^you might know why this is. We asked wendy if we could get our glasses early and she said she couldn't until 7. Yet the table right beside us which was a couple older guys and then that one Jerry Garcia guy who comes each week and brings his 12 year old kid with him (to DD home we all joke) had 3 of the glasses sitting on their table at 6 oclock. how come they got theirs early?

While $15 is $15, the beer itself is usually $5. So that leaves $10 for the glass (goblet in this case). And I've been told that they don't sell them for profit. $10/glass is the same price they get the glasses for from the brewery.

^sorry champ. On the featured glass night you have to get a ticket at the door upon arrival. Usually one of the waitresses is decked out in some cute dress

Last night they only had 140 tickets.

i saw/held the goblet...i'll be surprised if it holds a bottle's worth, let alone a full pint

to each their own...at $10, that thing is far too light and crappy to be worth the money for me
