So, I have been watching the game elsewhereBut did anyone else see the 2 HUGE and OBVIOUS blocks in the back by the stillers during that INT return?
2/1/2009 10:26:43 PM
man I used to like Dan Patrick but he is a huge fucking prick now.
2/1/2009 10:27:05 PM
ANYTHING IS POSSSSSIBBBLEEEEEEEEEEEEE
2/1/2009 10:27:20 PM
at least they beat the spread, hung in there, were not slaughtered, showed they deserved to be there and played with heart. good game AZ
2/1/2009 10:28:38 PM
santonio, how did you feel when you saw fitzgerald score that late td?i knew our D would get us the ball backlol
2/1/2009 10:34:49 PM
2/1/2009 10:38:41 PM
I can't remember the last time I actually cheered for a winning team in any sport. That is all.
2/1/2009 10:51:13 PM
No one will believe me except the people that were at the SB party I attended.. BUTAt the end of the first half we were discussing what the Cardinals would do.... Throw into the endzone and if you dont make it, kick the FG/etc.I said.. Warner will throw an INT that will be returned for 100 yard TD.OH SHIT! Warner threw a TD... OH SHIT.. He's running it back.. OH SHIT! He ran it back for a 100 yard TD.

2/1/2009 11:14:09 PM
haha, the local news just described the super bowl as "one of the most exciting championship games in recent memory"
2/1/2009 11:52:02 PM
Seriously, how could they not review that last play? An overturn would have give the Cards the ball around the 25 for one last play.[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 12:00 AM. Reason : fail]
2/2/2009 12:00:11 AM
^so just got home and this may ahve been discussed, but how do they not review that last play?did the post-game ever mention it?[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 12:02 AM. Reason : ^^it wasnt? nba, mlb, college football were over relatively early and this beats kan/mem]
2/2/2009 12:01:24 AM
How in the fuck does the last play of the biggest game in American sports end with such controversy?? Review the play you fucking morons, his arm was going forward, therefore = incomplete.
2/2/2009 12:13:18 AM
game was good. Was pullin for the cardinals, but in the end, just happy it ended up being a good game.oh, and springsteen was shitty. How many years in a row are we gonna have all these old ass people playing the halftime show? I'm sure our parents' parents are happy
2/2/2009 12:56:30 AM
2/2/2009 1:05:05 AM
^^ you want another janet jackson/timberlake half-time show?[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 1:07 AM. Reason : ^]
2/2/2009 1:07:09 AM
contact was made with the ball before the arm started forward motion?fumble?can't really tell, that was a fucking confusing play. but Warner was gassed, game played out like it should.but still, fuck the steelers.
2/2/2009 1:23:15 AM
2/2/2009 1:29:23 AM
Steelers own, fuck yes
2/2/2009 1:48:04 AM
I hate how Roflsburger gets all the credit when Warner outplayed him badly. He now has 2 rings, Eli has 1, and Phil has 0 and Phil is better than both.
2/2/2009 2:01:59 AM
where is that "steelers will not make the playoffs" thread when you need it
2/2/2009 2:17:57 AM
2/2/2009 7:33:18 AM
2/2/2009 7:35:42 AM
they were on about the 45 yard line with 5 seconds.granted they have a premier player in a jump ball situation but it wouldnt have mattered. the steelers were rushing three when the "fumble" occured. if you cant block 3 people with 5 you deserve to lose.
2/2/2009 7:39:31 AM
2/2/2009 7:43:44 AM
i thought there was a guy that grabbed warner's jersey on the returnbut i don't think it would have mattered by that point
2/2/2009 8:44:02 AM
2/2/2009 8:45:11 AM
^^^http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odXLJPsKb_031 second mark, Lamar Woodley throws one into the back of Tim Hightower right as he was about to catch up with James Harrison.
2/2/2009 12:13:33 PM
2/2/2009 12:32:03 PM
i mean i guess everyone is in on it, because not one person made mention of there being even the slightest bit of controversy with warner's fumble. madden and michaels made it sound like it was the most obvious call in the world, and the talking heads after the game didn't mention it either. i gotta think with one last play on the 30 yard line with the best receiver in the game right now, there's at least a realistic shot of a TD
2/2/2009 12:37:24 PM
Why would they review the last play? Lots of fumbles fly out of a player's hand in a perfect spiral going forward as he's trying to throw the ball. Nothing to see here Arizona's O-line lost that game for them. Even on the last play, the RT had a clean shot on Keisel to keep him off Warner at the end of the play and instead he just tags the guy like he's Martin Gramattica. And don't get me started on the LT that couldn't stop James Harrison to save his life... [Edited on February 2, 2009 at 12:39 PM. Reason : 2]
2/2/2009 12:38:56 PM
that was totally a fumble.goddamn, i've seen nothing but people bitching about officiating all morning. but none of them mention that on Fitzgerald's first TD, the nose of the ball hits the ground as he makes the catch.[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 12:43 PM. Reason : no conspiracies, mo fuckas. just some entertaining footballs.]
2/2/2009 12:43:00 PM
it was not "totally" a fumble. the problem is that the refs spend all season reviewing plays that can easily be seen with the naked eye in real time, but in the biggest game of the year, they just let it end? makes not one bit of sense to mesure it may've been ruled a fumble, but at least take a closer fucking look at it. i'm not even a cards fan, so i'd say the same thing if it had happened to the steelers
2/2/2009 12:49:51 PM
Damn, after watching the 100 pick 6 again, that block in the back was blatant. Not sure how that one was missed.
2/2/2009 1:02:48 PM
Look at all the whiny babies crying about the Steelers
2/2/2009 1:03:42 PM
you have to have control of the ball when your arm is going forward....and if so, you have 5 seconds to throw up a hail mary, 99% of the time nothing happens so whateveri'm surprised tomlin didnt challenge the first td by fitzgerald, the tip of the ball hit the grass before he did
2/2/2009 1:55:17 PM
the ball was loose before his arm came forwardits really that simple
2/2/2009 1:56:45 PM
Has anyone brought up the point during the halftime show when Bruce Springsteen rammed his crotch into living rooms across the country?
2/2/2009 1:59:50 PM
yeah it was definitely a fumble.Contrast that play with the one earlier in the game that was overturned and ruled incomplete.
2/2/2009 2:16:05 PM
I was hoping it would go to OT and the team that won the coin toss would march down and kick an FG to win right awaymaybe then there would finally be a movement the change the OT rules

2/2/2009 6:24:23 PM
jesus christ.....how long am i gonna have to hear about this possibly being the "Greatest Superbowl Ever"?? Shit happens all the time, and i have to hear about it. Why can't it be just a great game?? I mean, how many "Greatest Superbowls Ever have we had the past 5 years?Panthers/PatriotsGiants/PatriotsCardinals/Steelers
2/2/2009 6:29:36 PM
2/2/2009 8:43:08 PM
Great...got to ESPN and all the douches talking about how great the Steelers are and bullshit about being best team ever.... so classy Pittsburgh; lets see how many fights we can start even as your team is winning the game. I suppose had Cardinals won James Harrison would have called one of his homies to put a cap in Fitzgerald's ass. He proved his street cred on national TV last night.Overall the officiating was horrible and the announcers were blatantly biased (looking at you John Madden)[Edited on February 2, 2009 at 9:00 PM. 2/2/2009 8:59:13 PM
odds that cards win next season's super bowl - 30:1number of teams w/ the same odds who didnt' make the playoffs this year - 2number of teams w/ better odds who didn't make the playoffs this year - 5
2/2/2009 9:24:00 PM
2/2/2009 9:46:42 PM
twas a fumble. warner didn't have posession when his arm was going forward
2/2/2009 10:03:40 PM
I don't get the "greatest Super Bowl" talk either. Aside from the 100 yd INT return, the game was boring until the Cards started their comeback in the 4th. One of the better endings, I guess... but I think Patriots-Rams and Patriots-Giants were better endings, and Patriots-Panthers was a better overall game.
2/2/2009 10:09:44 PM
not shit happened really till the 2nd half
2/2/2009 10:45:59 PM
Both the Giants and the Panthers could have beaten the Steelers. This is why I like playoff series better (MLB, NHL, NBA)...the best team wins more often than not.
