thing is we can't just send him to a shit team he doesn't want to go toif we trade him, he'll have to agree to a long term deal with the team that is getting him. otherwise, why make the investment?

Hurney told Peppers to start soliciting offers, and if he can find a team willing to give them 2 1st round picks, they would listen.http://www.heraldonline.com/665?plckController=Blog&plckScript=blogScript&plckElementId=blogDest&plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&plckPostId=Blog%3aded44479-eff0-4fb5-98bf-9edb9d130913Post%3a7ef64b78-0175-45a7-a4ff-c2a923d7ca2e&plckCommentSortOrder=TimeStampAscending&sid=pluck.heraldonline.com

At least we will have our own top 3 pick in the 2010 draft....cause we are gonna be like the Detriot Lions...(I am hoping for the #1 pick to get Tebow).[Edited on February 19, 2009 at 4:50 PM. Reason : w]

^^^true, but in the end, I doubt the panthers want to pay 16+ mil for a guy who probably won't try very hard, when they have other areas of need. They're probably just trying to over bid and will likely settle for something similar to the Jared Allen deal last year....Unless a current player(s) is involved.^^lol, is that serious? Tebow will be lucky to go in the 3rd round of the '10 draft.[Edited on February 19, 2009 at 4:53 PM. Reason : .][Edited on February 19, 2009 at 4:54 PM. Reason : .]

Tebow is not a First Rounder, unless he shows something spectacular next year. I am hoping that we get something solid for JP, serious draft picks. I am not ruling out a decent season next year. Granted Jake was iffy at best and hurt in the playoffs we did go 12-4. I am looking for at least a 9/10 win season. Our run game will only get better, allowing us to rely on Jake less. III
2/19/2009 5:04:43 PM
i would be willing to put $10 on tebow going in the 1st round
2/19/2009 5:05:23 PM
2/19/2009 5:09:13 PM
with inflation that would be like $15 by the time that draft comes
2/19/2009 5:09:49 PM
^^my main point is that the 4 teams that Peppers would play for is not as much of a dealbreaker as it would've been if we didn't get Gross signed...somebody will be prepared to pay him, somebody will think they can make him a 20 sack/ year guy...and it wont be Dallas or either one of the teams in our division...Peppers lost a lot of his bargaining power
2/19/2009 6:29:13 PM
I remember someone saying he lost interest in NC and charlotte after staying in SD for the season opener. I could see him ending up in SF (we wont play NFC West next year) if its the whole "cali-style" thing he is after...

2/19/2009 6:56:03 PM
We definetly need to get a first rounder out of Pep. Throw in a third and maybe something like a fifth or sixth round pick. I think this is going to be around the offer we get for him.^ Yeah not as good as the Allen deal.

His buddy from Bailey still says he will end up a cowboy or on the left coast where he fell in love with it when out there. His gf is from either SD or SF area. Either way good riddance.

Man, you guys are some bitter faggots
2/19/2009 11:28:15 PM
would you want him on the packers ernie?
2/19/2009 11:41:39 PM
Well, we are running a 3-4 now with Capers. But, no, probably not. Either way, I'd have a little more respect for a guy who was one of the greatest and (at one time) one of the most beloved players in my franchise's history.
2/19/2009 11:47:20 PM
i think if he had expressed all his views about not wanting to play for the panthers behind the scenes to the front office, instead of having his agent talk a bunch of shit in public, the departure would be a lot more cordial
2/19/2009 11:56:15 PM
Yeah, he started it.Seriously, if he hadn't starting pissing and moaning and acting like a diva, I'd be willing to bet that we'd be none too happy about his departure.but he was a bitch about it. so fuck him. give us some picks. sacks are awesome and all, but it's not like his name was being called all the time last year. I think the Panthers can get just as much for Peppers as KC got for Allen. I don't particularly think they will, but they could.Where Allen's motor is much better, Peppers athleticism is off the charts. I'm sure a team will see what he can do, and think they can "coach him up" to not take plays off (they'll find it's futile, but who cares). Peppers is also a much bigger "name" than Allen was last year.

yes, of course we have the leverage, but there is not way in my right mind that i would pay $16.7 million dollars for one year, only to wind up in the same situation next year.over $1million a game to a guy? that i just insanity
2/23/2009 8:11:53 AM
i would take all these reports with a grain of salt until the deadline passes. If there really is a chemistry issue with peppers then we will still unload him in order to avoid it - even if we dont get what we think we should out of it initially (e.g. Kris Jenkins). Just freeing up his cap space would allow us to bring in a cheaper replacement and possible help at another position.[Edited on February 23, 2009 at 11:50 AM. Reason : sp]
2/23/2009 11:49:36 AM
a big dilemma with peppers is the cap space that he's taking up hampers us from being players in the free agent market to sure up our D. I think how free agency plays out in the next few months will show the panthers hand....If they pick up some players in FA, they expect to trade him and shed his cap number. If not, they're probably planning on riding it out next year unless they get an offer that's too good to be true.
2/23/2009 12:40:13 PM
2/23/2009 11:09:31 PM
Peppers doesn't want to be a DE for a 3-4 team, he wants to move to OLB so he can just rush the passer.
2/24/2009 3:34:39 PM
Gross thinks Peppers might stay:http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/02/23/gross-thinks-peppers-is-willing-to-stay/[Edited on February 24, 2009 at 6:49 PM. Reason : ]

released wide receiver D.J. Hackett, running back Nick Goings and tackle offensive lineman Jeremy Bridges.
2/25/2009 2:02:05 PM
"willing" to stay?i'd be "willing" to stay if i was going to make over $1million dollars per sunday for 16 weeks.im going to destroy some shit if that happens
2/25/2009 2:22:17 PM
what is so hard about our WR routes that every WR we bring in from free agency never pans out??
2/25/2009 3:16:26 PM
Ricky Proehl panned out.
2/25/2009 4:49:22 PM
its isnt our routes.... its a relationship with Jake telling you where he is going to chuck the ball under pressure
2/25/2009 6:44:35 PM
Ricky Proehl was fucking money for us
2/25/2009 7:17:57 PM
he was the only player that Weinke could complete a pass to
2/25/2009 7:26:10 PM
I wonder what kind of draft pick we can get for Ken Lucas. It is rumored that a upcoming trade was the reason he wasn't released today. Im thinking a middle round pick.
2/25/2009 7:41:25 PM
Hackett's problem had nothing to do with Jake, and everything to do with him being extremely injury-prone
2/25/2009 8:00:15 PM
soLucas was going to get traded to the Lions, but he nixed the deal...so if he isn't traded somewhere else we'll probably cut him todayDamion Lewis is back and restructured his contract to save us some moneyJake is expected to restructure his contract to save up some cap roomThere was a rumor that the Eagles would trade Lito Sheppard and a 1st round pick (late round pick) for Pep...I don't know if I like that deal, but it at least shows there are some possible suitors for Pep
2/26/2009 3:17:43 PM
trade Peppers to the Browns for Shaun Rogers and a draft pick
2/26/2009 3:20:37 PM
2/26/2009 3:30:22 PM
Patrick Jeffers was awesome before microfracture surgery. Also Mark Carrier was pretty solid but I can't remember if he was a FA or a expansion draft pick.
2/26/2009 10:12:16 PM
2/26/2009 10:26:15 PM
Curious, why do they want to get rid of Lito? Wasn't he a pro-bowler just a year ago? I've always thought he was pretty damn good.
2/27/2009 12:02:40 AM
they don't want to pay a 3rd corner that much money.
2/27/2009 12:11:57 AM
^4 hahai remember thinking he was going to be one of the best WR's in panthers historyi loved the dude
2/27/2009 12:15:53 AM
He had that one good season, but then he got a career-ending injury on the last game of the season.
