I can't remember if I ever posted here; so if I did, I blame the fact that I don't remember on whiskey.

Whiskey or whisky?

Discuss.

from personal experience from bumping this thread I had to look at the bottle because of the ezra brooks. It was whiskey.

With few exceptions, the spelling is Scottish, Canadian, and Japanese whisky (plural: whiskies), but Irish and American whiskey (whiskeys)[4]

I think if its from Ireland of America, its "whiskey." Any other country makes "whisky." Not really sure why.

Jack Daniels when I feel like paying for decent quality, Blue Label when I really feel like paying for quality, Canadian Club when I just want a lot of whiskey.

I got a bottle of The Glenlivet Nàdurra 16 Year Cask Strength yesterday, and it's delicious. Very smooth and honeyed for a cask strength whisky that clocks in at 56.2% ABV. I added just a bit of water to open it up, and then kept sipping on it all night long. Definitely recommended.

If you like Aberlour, you should try the Aberlour A'bunadh release. It's a cask-strength bottling with a big burst of sherry from the oloroso casks. Really good stuff, but it can also benefit from a little water to open it up. I usually prefer to drink whisky neat, but most cask-strengths take advantage of some dilution.

I wanted a manhattan when I got home, but I didn't have any bitters. I went ahead and made a bitterless manhattan anyway, and it was still rather tasty.

At the moment, my bottle of choice is Compass Box's Asyla. It's a blended malt and grain whisky, only about $40 for a bottle, and really tasty--very smooth and light with a bit of sweetness. Highly recommended if you aren't a big smoke and peat fan.

I come from a long line of drinkers, and we tried to bury a bottle of early times with my Aunt when she died. The pastor wouldn't let us though.. so I took it home and drank it instead.

I waited a long time to finish it, about 2 years. Why not finish it on the first day of grad school after a long day?
