if ben makes those two, things would be completely different, our defense would play much tighter on the outside shots.and a foul wouldn't have lost the game, unless on a three...(assuming they go 3/3)[Edited on December 22, 2008 at 8:58 PM. Reason : ]

not one of mccauley's finer performances.

I think the announcer wet himself when James pointed at him after making the shot.

12/22/2008 8:58:10 PM
yeah, ben missing those free throws hurt
12/22/2008 8:58:15 PM
the much bigger factor was that he turned it over at 30 seconds leftthat let them control the ball for the rest of the game

and twice in the last 1:30 or so.

It shouldn't have even come to mccauley to make those shots. It was just bad coaching. Also on the last play where Mccauley turned it over, it was obvious that the double was coming. How the hell did mccauley not have someone to pass it to? Degand ran away while his man, James, stayed to double. Our guys HAVE to know how to get an open look from that situation. It can be degand running under the basket or someone else getting open somewhere.Lowe lost the battle of strategy here

David Thompson for coach.

1 free throw and they don't wait until the last second. It ain't sidneys fault...but I do agree that he left the scrubs in too long late in the game. And fuck mccauley

Farnold had been dribbling off his feet all game and Sid left him in at the end of the game when Mays had been the only PG who can make anything happen on offenseAnd don't even get me started on Farnold playing D 10 feet off his man^I mean, let him finish out the season because it's a lost cause anyway, but after that he needs to go. Get John Wall's HS coach for all I care[Edited on December 22, 2008 at 9:05 PM. Reason : maybe laviolette]

people think our fanbase is too demandingfuck those people1. we are in the #1 state in the nation for college basketball2. we are the largest school in this state.3. the smallest div 1 school in the US has a top 10 team4. most of us would be happy with: 3/5 years ncaa tourney, 1-2 sweet sixteen or better, 1 elite 8 every 5 years, and one or two regular season or ACC tourney victories every 5-7 yearsthis shit over the last 20 years is fag as hell
12/22/2008 9:06:54 PM
We turned it over waaay to much tonight to think about winning and we were still in the game. Our scrubs play way way way to much to be competitive. They shouldn't play anymore than 8 mins a game. We shoulda won tonight by 10 points.
12/22/2008 9:07:47 PM
^Yeah that's what I'm sayingWhy do McCauley and Costner need to sit for 4-7 minutes at a time? They played 35 every game in Sid's first year
12/22/2008 9:08:43 PM
12/22/2008 9:08:45 PM
he fixed it good tonight...
12/22/2008 9:09:11 PM
I can't for the life of me understand why Tracy Smith doesn't get more run...Does he sit in the corner and jerk off in practice? He's obviously one of our better inside players...
12/22/2008 9:10:08 PM
fergie, degand, horner are all giving lowe special favors. CJ williams and simon harris are trying to follow that lead.[Edited on December 22, 2008 at 9:11 PM. Reason : .]

He's not showing much improvement. We could have some of the best players, but it won't matter for shit if they don't get the play time necessary to put away games.

When I was in high school, I took AP Psych. I didn't understand the concept of learned helplessness until I started watch Pack ball.
12/22/2008 9:16:33 PM
Anyone else tweaked by that brilliant, and by brilliant I mean basically a moving pick that was set by 12? He strolled right up behind Degand like evan on his boyfriend and started shoving him from behind, he really had no chance to stay with James on that play.
12/22/2008 9:19:55 PM
I think Smith only gets so many points in his few minutes per game because he only plays with the second team, and he's the only one of them that is capable of scoring.

12/22/2008 9:21:08 PM

12/22/2008 9:22:30 PM
this was the first game i have actually seen b/c i live in fl. the crazy substitutions are actually alot worse in person. i believe that substitutions are the #1 way a college coach can affect the game and lowe's personnel choices seem very poor.1. Costner: tell me how it makes sense that costner is responsible for 15 of 17 pts and comes out? then stays out through 2 timouts plus. costner played 32 minutes tonight. 32. This was my single biggest problem tonight.2. 12 players. 12 players played in a competitive game, how does this happen? MAYBE, just MAYBE on a really deep team, but on 98% of the teams in the country, an 12 man lineup is too deep.3. horner. ok, so could dennis horner get PT for DII team?4. mays/degand. so mays is your starter? you have enough confidence to start him? then why is he on the bench for the end of the game?
12/22/2008 9:36:41 PM
BLAMEBLAMEBLAME^ this is your first game and you are questioning how the team is run? Give me a break [Edited on December 22, 2008 at 9:41 PM. Reason : ]
12/22/2008 9:40:06 PM
Mays had 4 fouls at the end of the game. So you risk him getting fouled out and only have Degand or a banged up Gonzalez to come in and run the point if the game were to go to overtime?
12/22/2008 9:43:10 PM
^^^Your #1 is confusing me a little. Are you claiming he played too much or not enough because 32 minutes is a pretty good workload, right?[Edited on December 22, 2008 at 9:43 PM. Reason : ]

I don't think that Lowe knows how to coach in college. I'd run the whole team to death until they all got in shape and could play with some intensity. This team needs to be reminded about the tradition that NC State basketball has. We need some inspiration to want to go out and just destroy the other team. There is no reason why fells, mccauley, and costner shouldn't play atleast 35 min a game. If I was playing you'd have to knock me out to get me off the court. We need leadership and we can't get it with all the substitutions.
12/22/2008 9:44:54 PM
The substitutions are double-sided for me. Lowe does need to improve at managing personnel. At the same time, our bench has got to step up--they need to be able to hold a lead (or at least lose the lead slower).
12/22/2008 9:44:56 PM
12/22/2008 9:46:21 PM
you don't let your bench develop in games you have to win. you play your best players.
12/22/2008 9:47:38 PM
fatigue be damned.
12/22/2008 9:52:22 PM
he left the second team in waaay too long when no one was producing at all, that's on SidMcCauley had an off night and was downright ineffective under the basket, missing clutch free throws doesnt helpwe had waaay to many idiotic 'shoot yourself in the foot' turnovers, partially related to the second team but everyone struggledand how you dont buckle down on the player who not only has driven on us with ease, but also lit us up for multiple threes in a row as the clock winds down is beyond me
12/22/2008 9:52:58 PM
I'm personally proud of the team and how they played. They fought hard, got rebounds, and shot well (I think 55% in the 1st half). So we lost to the #25 team in the nation and a preseason Top 15 team that just so happens to have one of the best trio of guards in college basketball. We knew coming in that they would have their way with our guards. This team has improved since last year. I come on here expecting some comments on how hard the team played on national television, and all I see is a bunch of crying and complaining. Hopefully Favors watched the game, saw how good the atmosphere was despite it being the holidays and how we worked it inside often. We have two more games to work out any last kinks before we go down to Florida. Let's rally behind the team and maybe give them the confidence to get to 10 wins before conference play begins.
12/22/2008 9:53:11 PM
Monkey, how long have you been a State fan?Identifying weaknesses and breaking down each loss is what we do. What else would we do? Celebrate? HA!
12/22/2008 9:57:11 PM
you fucking idiots aren't doing anything except insisting that costner play a solid 40 minutes every game.
12/22/2008 9:57:48 PM
Just for kicks, who are our "bench", and who are our "starters"???Because as far as i can tell, its been constantly changing. Of course there's Costner and McCauley, and Fells when's he's healthy. And Smith is a beast up front. And Harris is tenacious. But the backcourt doesn't have a "starting line-up". [Edited on December 22, 2008 at 10:02 PM. Reason : ]
