We could definitely beat Ball State, Navy, or any of these teams we are getting matched up against.

As much as I would love for us to beat Ball State, I'm not sure we could. While I have been amazed and incredibly entertained watching Russel Wilson lead us the past few weeks I don't know if we could keep up with Ball State.

Listen to what you just said.

Do you really think Ball State is better than Wake, UNC, and Miami???

Nate Davis and Russell Wilson play a pretty similar game, it'd be fun to see them duke it out.

word is that Charlotte is really licking its chops at having us again and trying to figure out a way to get it done.

ya i control f'd state as well, had to be updated today

as far as interesting games and whats best for the program i would think a win over ball state would mean more than a win over navy, im pulling for the motor city bowl even though that means id have no chance of going

"NC State Hopes To Expose Loophole To Get Into a Bowl Game

As it stands right now, NC State won't be going to a bowl game. They are one of ten ACC teams who are bowl eligible (6-6) and beat Wake Forest, North Carolina, Miami-FL and East Carolina this year.

The problem is that the ACC has only nine bowl tie-ins and the Wolfpack would have to get one of the few at-large berths. However NCAA rules state that seven-win teams must be given at-large berths before six-win teams.

NC State hopes a loophole can let them into a bowl. The bowls aren't legislated by the NCAA and can make whatever deals with whomever they want ... as long as they are bowl-eligible. The EagleBank Bowl in Washington, DC and the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte would rather bring in NC State than some Sun Belt or MAC school. The Meineke Bowl would like to have NC State over Maryland or Wake Forest.

There is also a loophole involving Maryland's exam schedule which I'll touch on later.

So the NCAA says that NC State must wait to see if there is a bowl out there than can take them while the bowls say they can take whomever they want.

There is also a complicated way that NC State could get in without ticking off the NCAA. Since the SEC and Big XII cannot fill their bowl quota, two at-large bids opened up. Two more should open up since both the SEC and Big XII are expected to get a second team into the BCS. That means there are four at-large spots open. Another could open in the Pac-10 if Arizona State loses to Arizona this Saturday.

The ACC is joined by the WAC, MAC, Mountain West and Sun Belt as conferences with extra teams. Since Utah will earn a BCS bid, the Mountain West will be able to place all of their bowl eligible teams. The WAC could have the same thing if Boise State gets a BCS bid (if Ohio State gets it, then that opens up another at-large bid).

Okay, the MAC will scoop up one of the at-large bids since they have four teams with at least seven wins and just three bowl tie-ins. The WAC will scoop up another two bids since they have five teams with seven-wins and just three bowl tie-ins (again, if Boise State goes to the BCS than a WAC team will move up into one of the tie-ins).

That leaves one spot open among NC State, Louisville (if they beat South Florida this week), San Jose State, Northern Illinois, Bowling Green, Colorado State, Arkansas State and the winner of the Middle Tennessee-Louisiana Lafayette game this week. All those teams would be helped out if Troy beats Arkansas State on Saturday. If Arkansas State wins, they will become a seven-win team and get a spot in the PapaJohns.com Bowl.

There is also the Maryland factor. The Terps cannot play in the EagleBank Bowl because it conflicts with their exam schedule. The EagleBank Bowl gets the ninth pick of ACC schools and could mean that NC State may get asked. If that happens, what kind of chaos will that cause if then Maryland gets an at-large bid that isn't during exam week?

At least these bowl games aren't confusing and are very fair. This should get even more interesting in the coming years if the poor economy claims a few of these bowl games."

I want to play Ball State. Ruining a perfect season, assuming they win the MAC championship game, would be a great way to finish up.

lolwut. DC is frigid in Dec. and Louisiana is a shit hole, esp. Shreveport. Might as well go to the Liberty Bowl and get gunned down outside the Midsouth Fairgrounds instead.

There's a NW Airline hub in Detroit, so you can get flights from Raleigh relatively cheap. Still, Charlotte would be much more convenient.

I believe that 6-6 teams should not get to play in a bowl.

A bowl game should be a reward for having a winning season.

Our season should not be deemed a success. We were mediocre at best.

^ COMPLETELY disagree...

At the beginning of the year, terrible...

At the end of the year, one of the hottest teams in the nation.... I bet we'd beat South Carolina by 2 touchdowns should we play them now.

We are playing better than anyone else in the ACC right now. The best ACC records are 5-3 while ours is 4-4....c'mon....

unfortunately for you delusional fans

4-4 in the ACC is very good

and I hate to be the one to you but a season is not based on what happened in the last 4 games.

State was 2-6!!!! HAD to win their last 4 to get to mediocrity

If you don't know too much about college football, Bowl committees like teams that are hot and travel well. I'm pretty sure we qualify for both.

plus the travel factor and our fans travel for our team

so it wouldve been better to start out the season 6-2 and then lose the last 4 games of the season? Or even better, start out 7-0 and drop the next 5 straight? Hey they would still be 7-5 which is better than mediocre

fucking idiot

not to mention I am sure they look at why a team lost at first then came on strong in the end. We had a huge amount of injuries in the first part of the season which definitely cost us at least 1 game.

nah he's right, way too many teams get to play in bowls. we're 10th out of 12 in the acc and might get one. it's ridiculous.

but it's the system, might as well abuse it.

actually we are tied for 5th... arent conference standings the only real measuring stick within the conference of where the teams stack since the teams do not play common non-conf opponents...

I know the rules and everything, im just saying that we are tied for 5th in the conference at 4-4

Exactly. I also think there are way too many bowls, and that a team should have to be over, rather than at, .500 to play in one. However, the rules aren't changing this year, so hopefully our late-season surge will be rewarded!

^^had the NCAA not passed the 12 game minimum rule we would have had a winning record.... 4 conf wins, 2 nonconf (ecu and wandm) = 6-5... there would have been no sfla on the schedule (we used to only play 11 games)

^that article is so nondescriptive.... other than the title that they put to make you get to read... everyone ive talked to is confident we will land somewhere.... even if we dont get an acc tie bowl, we will be at the top of the 6-6 teams, that have anywhere from 2-5 slots open

Didn't see where anyone posted this yet...but gopack.com has a page of "possible bowl selections"

http://www.gopack.com//ViewContent.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=9200&CONTENT_ID=5132&KEY=&DB_OEM_ID=9200&DB_LANG=&IN_SUBSCRIBER_CONTENT=

They have:

Emerald Bowl - San Francisco
Humanitarian Bowl - Boise
Car Car Bowl - Charlotte
Music City Bowl - Nashville
Eaglebank Bowl - Washington DC

I'd be fine with any of the last three, but San Francisco would be too far away and Boise would just be .

we are the ACC#10 team

the ACC has 9 bowls, we are the #10 team because we are the only team that is 6-6

A bowl must select a 7-5 team before selecting a 6-6 team

with that said we would have to get an at-large bid which the Motor City Bowl has.

If the ACC works out a one year deal with an at-large bowl, or a bowl whose tie-ins aren't going to be able to fill their slot, then we could potentially end up in Charlotte/DC/San Fran/etc

Just read the article JayBee posted above.
