any non fiction books on movies?since the first is on funk i think i'd like the second more
11/22/2008 2:39:47 AM
which movie should i netflix next: Metropolis, Audition, or Ikiru?
11/22/2008 3:44:17 AM
^ Audition^^ Spike, Mike, Slackers & Dykes by John Piersonand please kill me is one of the best books i've ever read, period. it's all compiled from interviews, and there's no narrative other than said interviews. even if you don't like punk, it's a document of american culture.legs mcneil has a similar book about the porn industry called the other hollywood that's a fun read. my favorite line is, "ginger lynn is a remarkable sexual athlete."incidentally, for anyone who's interested in the british side of punk, there's an exhaustive book by jon savage called england's dreaming that's excellent, if a little tedious. ]

have you ever read the runaway jury?[Edited on November 22, 2008 at 7:01 PM. Reason : .]

11/22/2008 7:03:57 PM
noi generally read new nonfiction and classic fiction that i haven't read beforefor instance, i'm currently knocking out the last few faulkner novels i haven't read ]
11/22/2008 7:09:59 PM

11/22/2008 7:12:01 PM
Is there any show/movie/other form of entertainment out there that will fill me with as much glee as Arrested Development?I think I was seriously depressed when I ran out of episodes to watch. At least I moved on to Dexter, but I need more excellent, quirky things in my life.
11/22/2008 7:15:58 PM
it's always sunny is fun, but there's not the level of synergy across the seasons like there is in ADsame with 30 rock, though i like it more than it's always sunnyif you've never watched freaks & geeks from start to finish, i'd advise thatbut you probably have
11/22/2008 7:18:12 PM
i haven't. thanks, vinyl.
11/22/2008 7:19:42 PM
big fan of Please Kill Mehave you read the newest Sarah Vowell book, and if so, how was it?(its on the christmas list)
11/22/2008 7:20:05 PM
f&gi can't think of another show that at some point presents all of its major and minor recurring characters in a light that makes them identifiable to the audienceIN ONLY 18 EPISODES^ i have not ]
11/22/2008 7:21:16 PM
I really need to get my hands on the latest Sarah Vowell, especially since she's doing a signing here in Reston in March. I've seen a little bit of Sunny and I'm kind of disappointed. It has its moments, but sometimes I fail to find the comedy in everyone yelling at each other.Surprisingly I haven't watched Freaks and Geeks yet, though I think I have the dvds squirreled away for potential viewing. I'll put that on top of my pile.
11/22/2008 7:22:16 PM
as much as i try, i just can't get into It's Always Sunnythey rely WAY too much on being able to say "shit"and they always talk over each other, regardless of situationit's basically 30 minutes of saying "shit" and arguing with each other[Edited on November 22, 2008 at 7:32 PM. Reason : beer, i drink it]
11/22/2008 7:23:34 PM
yeahit's fun, but i don't own any30 rock and AD...i bought every set on release dayand i'm disappointed that shoutfactory is putting out the F&G yearbook againbecause Sousapickle and i each have one from the mailing-list-only releaseand it's no longer 1337 ]
11/22/2008 7:24:52 PM

11/22/2008 9:21:22 PM

11/24/2008 4:43:45 PM
bored at work and whatnots
11/28/2008 3:07:14 PM
so i need to do work, and i'm doing what i normally do to put work off, watching cheesy movies, and fever pitch came up and i was thinking 'man you know what's awesome about this movie? it doesn't have the same storyline as every romantic comedy ever: guy meets girl for w/e reason, guy falls in love w/ girl, girl finds out why guy really met her, girl is mad, girl forgives'. what are your thoughts on this statement? how about jimmy fallon taking over for conan?i'm trying real hard to come up w/ a question here.[Edited on November 28, 2008 at 3:25 PM. Reason : also katherine heigl looks better w/ dark hair. confirm/deny.]
11/28/2008 3:22:55 PM
i'm okay with jimmy fallon taking over for conan...what i don't like is the prospect of conan going to LAwith that said, fever pitch is a much better memoir than a movie^ i like blonde heigl ]
11/28/2008 3:25:22 PM
3 worse movies you have seen (that i would know of)
11/28/2008 3:54:19 PM

11/28/2008 5:19:12 PM
whats the deal with Barry Manilow?
11/28/2008 5:29:22 PM
so what was the first film to have sexual innuendos in it? What year was the sex embargo lifted on film and what helped it to pass?
11/28/2008 5:30:43 PM
do you like Clare Fader and the Vaudevillans?
11/28/2008 5:45:36 PM
Does Heath Ledger deserve as Oscar?
11/28/2008 5:55:29 PM
Barry Manilow is lame.Innuendo has been around forever, and nudity on film has existed since the late 1880's...the 1917 version of Cleopatra has Theda Bara in a gold bikini that's far more revealing than Carrie Fisher's.There's something to be said for the explicit nature of some of the stuff in Mom and Dad from 1945, but it's mostly about STDs and childbirth...exploitation marketing at its finest.Clare Fader...doubtful.Heath Ledger...yes. ]
11/28/2008 6:11:39 PM

11/28/2008 6:31:09 PM
speaking of jesus...do you believe in god? have you read the bible?
11/28/2008 6:31:41 PM
^^^^ yes^^^ yes^^ 35%^ i have read the bible at least six times from beginning to end, and i don't know how many times if reading passages countsi vacillate on the god thing ]
11/28/2008 6:36:06 PM
if i were to read particular passages of the bible what would you suggest?i cant believe you read that thing 6 times though...that would take me like a year probably(year straight to read it 6 times)
11/28/2008 6:36:59 PM
you going to make fun of me or  if i wear a dress or an oxford shirt?
11/28/2008 6:38:43 PM
the old testament is way better than the new testament, particularly the torahthe first time i read a large portion of it was before 12th grade english...i think the summer reading assignment was 39 of the 51 books in the kjv^ dress, nooxford shirt, i will refer to you asa slightly dyke-y waitress-ish person but keep in mind that i'm wearing chucks and a state basketball t-shirt and i haven't shaved in like 20 days and i didn't shower or comb my hair today ]

11/29/2008 12:00:04 PM
Pixar or Dreamworks?
11/29/2008 12:01:15 PM
Dreamworks Animation is a worthless piece of shit studio that subsists on fart jokes and thoughtless parody.Pixar has made nine feature films and eight of them are great.
11/29/2008 12:04:11 PM
That was a great commentary on Dreamworks.Which Pixar film did you dislike? I'm gonna guess "Cars".
