^^ What is a "bad pick" anyway? Short of someone that eats babies, there's no objective thing as a "bad pick."
8/29/2008 7:42:31 PM
imo, a "bad pick" is someone that gets you less voters, and a "good pick" is someone that gets you more votes...i definitely think she will get mccain more votes
8/29/2008 7:43:58 PM
I don't really get into politics, but I cannot decide if this VP choice will pick up pissed off Clinton voters (I would hope not), or completely backfire by insulting voting women. What's the general consensus on this[Edited on August 29, 2008 at 9:14 PM. Reason : llk;lk]
8/29/2008 9:02:21 PM
I do not think that she is going to get the Hilary-crat women voters. She is a little too right of center for all of that. Her anti-choice and creationist stances will not win her female democratic votes. I think that it really underestimates female voters if that is the reason behind choosing Palin.[Edited on August 29, 2008 at 9:16 PM. Reason : AGH> no proevolution.]

8/29/2008 10:21:54 PM
She also wants evolution taught in schools. So she's not "anti-evolution" per se.I would be curious to hear what she personally believes.[Edited on August 29, 2008 at 10:27 PM. Reason : 2]
8/29/2008 10:27:03 PM
sounds like she's actually willing to "reach across the aisle" unlike many politicians
8/29/2008 10:27:55 PM
blah, Bush said he would do that 8 years ago.....and it was his way or the highway from the get go.....Jeb Bush should of been president for the past 8 years.....and now because of his last name, he probably will never get the chance..
8/29/2008 10:44:33 PM
^^^ the "teach the controversy" bullshit is just the latest creationist/Discovery Institute tactic to get creationism in the schools, since they got shut down at Dover. Anyone who thinks that teaching creation alongside evolution in the science classroom has no business making policy decisions.
8/29/2008 10:44:55 PM
Palin is a moonbat just like the rest of you motherfuckers here. McCain and Palin is your dream ticket. try not to bust a nut when you cast your vote for 4 more years of yeehaw redneck stupidity.
8/29/2008 11:04:43 PM
Sadly, Palin is just another "Drill here. Drill now. Drill "ANWR" and in the skulls of baby seals for oil" nutball that is myopic enough to think that habitat loss is a good trade off for more pertobucks to her state. Ted "Tubes" Stevens would be proud. . .The good thing is that her wacko fundamentalist stances will be enough to keep most voters away.

yeah, sure. i dont have a problem teaching creationism in school, [b]outside[b] the science class.see, we'd have a special elective course on "Moonbat Cult Theories"... could spend about half the semester on Creationism, the rest of the time divided between Euegenics, Phrenology, Christian Science, and Magic Underpants.

i guess you only believe in freedom of religion when its islam when they're being persecuted by evil america, but certainly not christianity...THEMS NOTHIN BUT REDNECKS!!1...sad that you aren't tolerant of other people's views...maybe if she said we should teach both creation and communism you'd support her?ps: i'm an agnostic that believes in science, evolution, etc]
8/30/2008 1:07:30 AM
I don't see a problem teaching creationism, just not as a theory of how the world came about in a science class.teaching it as part of a religion class is a-ok. As has been said, its not clear what her opinion is on the context of how it should be taught.[Edited on August 30, 2008 at 1:13 AM. Reason : specifics]

8/30/2008 1:13:03 AM
she said even though she doesnt support gay marriage, she supported legislation for it...regardless of her views on evolution or creation, she seems to welcome both sidesby all accounts, so far at least, it seems like she actually does a decent job of putting her personal opinions aside and letting both sides of a particular issue have their say...i don't think theres anything wrong with thatalthough i went to public school in the 80s and 90s and we didnt really talk about creation, but if some school out in idaho wants to talk about it, it doesnt bother me personally^they are indeed wonky...except rastafarianism ]

You want your kids to learn religion, go to church every Sunday. You want your kids to learn science, send them to school. It's that simple. We don't need to add Creationism to science classrooms, and we don't need to be adding Theology as an additional high school course... unless the school systems have that much extra money to blow, which I'm pretty sure they don't right now.In fact, some of this "conservative" whining about wanting creationism in schools seems like a simple case of personal irresponsibility and a feeling of entitlement... parents are too lazy and un-dedicated to go to church or teach their own kids their religion, so they're asking the state to do it for them.(Not saying that Palin is like this... she seems pretty rational... but this does seem like the attitude of a large portion of the Republican base voters).
8/30/2008 1:20:27 AM
^^^Oh yeah you're right on the equal rights thing i was wrong...but i still think it shows that she can be tolerant of, and grant equal rights to, people she doesnt agree with, which i honestly think is good in any candidate...like i said in a thread earlier, i personally think a couple dudes buttfucking is disgusting, but that doesnt mean i think they should have separate water fountains or anything^^he should understand that you're an adult who has his own way of thinking...i dunno about your step mom though...chicks are sometimes a little more emotional about things like that...might wanna confront your pops alone at first and tell him and see if he thinks you should break it to step momdukes^i really dont disagree with any of that...i was just saying that her views about both creationism and evolution being taught in school seem to show she respects both sides of issues...and while you and i might think religion is for people who choose to go to church, some communities around the country might hold it more important, and if they want to do something in their town, let them pass their own laws[Edited on August 30, 2008 at 1:23 AM. 8/30/2008 1:20:45 AM
i'm definitely more worried about my step-mom, she's the one who's always like "how's your walk with God" when I go visit A theology class shouldn't serve the purpose of indoctinating as does a church. It would just be taught as an elective class for students who are just interesting in different religions. No reason for not teaching that in public schools, its just educational.[Edited on August 30, 2008 at 1:25 AM. Reason : not]

^^pretty much^yeah...i'm a proponent of the feds letting states or local govts make laws about things that might get viewed differently in different parts of the country...i think regardless of someones views on abortion or the death penalty or whatever other polarizing issues often separates sides in an election, i'm usually always in favor of the feds saying "do what you want" to a state and if the state wants to let the individual cities and counties and municipalities dictate their own laws on the issues, more power to them[Edited on August 30, 2008 at 1:27 AM. thats pretty much the case for any school though...teach the basics and if you have the extra money for staff resources, blow it on stuff like 10 language classes and AP courses or whatever.

^^I can somewhat agree with that. I can see how some parents would feel that evolution would undermine christian doctrine and how they wouldn't want their kids to question christianity at a younger age. They will eventually, but I think parents feel that if they can beat and thump the doctrine into a young child's head early, without any question of anything else out there, they would be more likely to stay christian and not turn agnostic.
