^^^maybe if you put that pic on every page people will start to believe what you're saying?I couldn't stay up for Biden's speech last night (i'll have to find it online somewhere), but I'll be sure to stay up tonight.[Edited on August 28, 2008 at 6:45 AM. Reason : .]

^ You got it.And maybe you're right. That giant jukebox-looking stage at the DNC was, in fact, perfectly understated--as will be the Acropolis-style columns we will be graced with tonight in the "Temple of Obama." Don't be late for worship--and don't forget your toga! [Edited on August 28, 2008 at 7:02 AM. Reason : ]

Yeah, this whole Jesus-complex thing Obama is going through is just rediculous now.Hillary calling off the roll call and nominating Obama was the most cheesey and predictable of things. And Obama making that "surprise" appearance last night was perhaps the least surprising thing of all. Biden was walking around on stage for over a minute by himself under conditions where normally he would be immediately swarmed by family members. The whole thing was, well, surprisingly unsurprising. This convention and the Obama Campeign have certainly shown a flaire for the dramatic. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but when you continuosly do it over and over, it gets borring and downright annoying. The Ted Kennedy thing was great, I liked it, thought it was a strong way to start the covention. But as the week goes on, this strategy quickly loses its effectiveness.[Edited on August 28, 2008 at 9:20 AM. Reason : e]

Actually it's roughly on the same scale, it's just that in a football field that set looks a little bigger and naturally has to be. Not to mention those ends are only to house video screens so people can see. It's a backdrop my god dude, is that what you have to go on?This is just another one of those meme pushing manufactured fake righteous indignation outrages that pour from the GOP. It's really laughable..like a fat kid in the back of the room flicking boogers.
8/28/2008 9:45:41 AM
(1) The stadium is definitely not on the same scale. FYI.And (2) The Boston Globe, Slate, The Washington Post, Reuters, ABC News, and the hundreds of other media outlets reporting on the story at issue are in the GOP now? You have to be one of the most gullible fuckers to come down the pike in a while, you know that?
8/28/2008 10:11:43 AM
I've never seen somebody use the word "meme" as much as ^^just an observation[Edited on August 28, 2008 at 10:12 AM. Reason : ^]

Tonight will be Obama's best opportunity to play up his best strength..doing dramatic readings off the teleprompter. Peggy Noonan comments on "The Speech"....
8/28/2008 10:42:20 AM
I believe the set is actually supposed to look like the Lincoln Memorial.
8/28/2008 10:43:06 AM
8/28/2008 10:50:52 AM
^^no no, that is too logical and doesn't flow with the whole 'Obama wants to be Zeus' theme. Would McCain even be able to fill up a football stadium? Thats the question.[Edited on August 28, 2008 at 10:54 AM. Reason : s]

You are such a freaking nutjob hooksaw it's unbelievable. I think your entire existence is defined by slinging mud on the democratic party. It's supposed to look like the Lincoln Memorial because it is tribute to the 45 year anniversary MLK 'I have a dream speech'. Since it's a pretty huge land breaking moment for a black person to be nominated for president that is the inspiration.Nearly all of freaking America's administration buildings have Greek styled columns you jackass. What the hell does that matter? They parrot this shit out there to stir up shit.

why not? it works for the republicans.
8/28/2008 1:59:52 PM
yeah, but if Obama did it, he would be lambasted for being elitist and exclusive
8/28/2008 2:04:57 PM
8/28/2008 3:50:19 PM
any back-story to that? or are you just going to post a brief video of a skinny woman getting knocked down by a cop?
8/28/2008 4:17:11 PM
If there was a back story posted on the site I got the vid from then I would have posted it.[Edited on August 28, 2008 at 4:47 PM. Reason : all i know is that its a protester at the DNC getting owned]
8/28/2008 4:47:21 PM
if i was the camera guy i would've kept the camera on the copyeah youtube caption is "DNC Protests: Police slam CodePink protester to the ground"]
8/28/2008 4:47:57 PM
You can hear the police telling people to back up prior to the cop pushing the woman down. Every one seems to be complying other than the woman who got pushed who is standing in front of the cop and appears to be arguing with him. It's impossible to tell why she was arrested after that. That said, the cop's response seemed overly aggressive and violent, although it is impossible to tell what she said or did prior to that. If she was refusing to comply, why not calmly arrest her from the beginning instead of jacking her up like that and then arresting her later? It is impossible to know everything that happened judging by the video. But I could certainly see that officer being charged with police brutality.
8/28/2008 5:48:46 PM
Police Brutality? Really? He shoved her, once. Maybe it wasn't the most perfect thing to do, but if she was refusing to back up, being confrontational, etc.. Well, what did she expect? Now if he struck her repeatedly on the ground, or something, sure. One hard knock to the chest, meh. Maybe a reprimand or something.
8/28/2008 6:03:49 PM
I wasn't saying I think he should be charged, personnally I don't. I'm just saying I can see it happening given the setting and with people being as sensitive as they are about this stuff, and the city not wanting to look bad.
8/28/2008 6:12:31 PM
Obama is about to speak!
8/28/2008 10:04:38 PM
that was a fantastic video
8/28/2008 10:18:11 PM
lunak is this on the radio do you think?
8/28/2008 10:19:41 PM
I think it's being streamed on CNN.com
8/28/2008 10:21:26 PM
internet is too slow for streaming video
8/28/2008 10:24:00 PM
Yahoo is streaming it as well via abc news.
8/28/2008 10:25:13 PM
Try npr Obama really isn't saying what he's going to do yet. But he's doing a good job of attacking the right without being too nasty.
8/28/2008 10:27:27 PM
thanks lunak! npr has it
8/28/2008 10:29:54 PM
no problem
8/28/2008 10:34:51 PM
the "gates of hell/caves where he is" line was decent i guess...the rest of this is the same stuff hes said forever...kinda lackluster
8/28/2008 10:47:35 PM
wtf is this exit music
8/28/2008 10:58:01 PM
It was okay, but left me waiting for something more substantial
8/28/2008 10:59:25 PM
^^haha i thought that too
8/28/2008 11:02:37 PM
who ever was in charge of the music selection for the closing appearances should be fired. Is this all of a sudden an epic movie?
8/28/2008 11:04:30 PM
I didn't expect him to skewer McCain so directly.
8/28/2008 11:05:09 PM
haha, i know, i was first commenting on the dueling banjos america song, but now it feels like the end of lord of the rings
8/28/2008 11:05:43 PM
lol all the uproar about the set and it was straight up understated in the overall environmentthe shift in music was probably a segue to the evening prayer[Edited on August 28, 2008 at 11:07 PM. Reason : +]
8/28/2008 11:06:16 PM
who let pelosi talk
8/28/2008 11:10:00 PM
Surprisingly hawkish talk, both on "defending Israel", "stopping Iran", and "countering Russian aggression". Not that I expected a different stand from him per say, but its not the kind of topic I would have expected him to bring up.Also funny how surprisingly quiet the normally raucous crowd was at those lines.
8/28/2008 11:12:00 PM
Did anyone see the look on Michelle's face? Ga-run-tee Obama's gonna tap that ass tonight!
8/28/2008 11:13:37 PM
anybody have alink to the new McCain ad that started airing tonight? I heard it's interesting.
8/28/2008 11:14:39 PM
Fairly typical liberal speech. I didn't get the sense he was reaching out to independents but more of a speech to spark up the party faithful. I look forward more to the debates..to see him face tough specific questions about his socialist views...and tax and spend designs. His laundry list of things he was promising to accomplish got comical after a while. I was waiting for him to state he was going to get the Earth spinning in the opposite direction. With every event I see featuring Obama, he becomes more and more of a typical democrat politician. The fire-works were cool. George Soros et al must've spent a bundle.
8/28/2008 11:15:24 PM
am i the only one who forgot he was watching a presidential nomination and thought it was the ending credits to mighty ducks or something when that music hit?i mean i LOVE that type of music. but who in the hell decided to make a motion picture score the end of a speech?
