I just watched the opening 30 seconds of the first one.Don't bother.Read the book.
2/11/2009 7:40:04 PM
way to give it a chance
2/11/2009 7:53:40 PM
So it backs out on the Comedian's badge, and that's cool, and the then guy starts reading as Rorshach and the delivery is all wrong. If he can't read the most important character in the book correctly (or be directed to do so), there's no point. Pass.

is this the motion comics series that is narrated by alan moore?it is noti can't listen to him read his own workshis voice sounds like old people fucking[Edited on February 11, 2009 at 8:19 PM. Reason : hurm]
2/11/2009 8:17:39 PM
Nah, it's Tom Stechschulte. Apparently he's a veteran audiobook guy, but he's not a good Rorschach.
2/11/2009 8:20:08 PM
it is a comic book, how do you know what ANY of the characters sound like? Other than what you have done in your head and there is no way to say whether you are right or wrong.
2/11/2009 8:37:12 PM
got my tickets!
2/13/2009 3:13:56 AM
^^ because alan moore has done the voices before, and he created the characters.
2/13/2009 1:37:03 PM
Jackie Earle Haley as Rorshach could be one of the best casting jobs ever, depending on if he pulls it off
2/13/2009 2:23:49 PM
^ yeah, I couldn't agree more
2/13/2009 4:34:38 PM
oh damn! he was the child molester in Little Children, who castrated himself at the end of the movie. (i watched it bc i read the book, probably wouldn't have been interested otherwise). damn, that's going to make it really hard for me to like him in this role, or any other role ever. what a creepy bastard.
2/13/2009 5:11:14 PM
he's also the scrappy Moocher from Breaking Away, and talented ruffian Kelly from the Bad News Bearsdude rolls old school[Edited on February 13, 2009 at 5:43 PM. Reason : ^have you read watchmen? its not like we're supposed to just love the guy because he's a sweetie-pie]
2/13/2009 5:42:42 PM
Is this playing at the IMAX in Raleigh? I looked at their schedule and Watchmen isn't listed in coming soon
2/14/2009 9:06:01 PM
its not out for like 3 weeks dood
2/14/2009 9:09:40 PM
yeah but they already have Monsters vs. Aliens listed as coming and it isn't coming out until March 27th.
2/14/2009 9:23:46 PM
oh boy, with Monsters vs. Aliens playing there, then they are probably not getting this in IMAX.
2/14/2009 9:58:44 PM
NEWS FLASHThe Wachovia IMAX theater at the Marbles Kids Museum will not be getting Watchmen......because it's rated 'R'.No R rated movies at a kid's museum. Sorry.
2/14/2009 10:30:20 PM
I guess the next closest theater would be Charlotte?
2/15/2009 3:38:17 PM
The Charlotte IMAX is also at a children's museum.
2/15/2009 3:38:59 PM
i think there might be one in Richmond
2/15/2009 8:17:55 PM
For some reason I can't shake the extremely low expectations I have for this movie. And yet I want to see it anyway.Which is probably good, since it could very easily exceed my expectations and make me happy.
2/15/2009 8:36:17 PM
oh yeahthis is def a low expectation kinda vibe
2/17/2009 8:36:40 PM
i'll be awaiting reviews from my fellow wolfwebbers before deciding whether to see this.
2/17/2009 11:55:41 PM
well then it's either gonna be the greatest movie ever made or the worst movie ever made
2/18/2009 9:05:24 AM
^^ make sure you sort through the responses and figure out who is a hardcore fan and who isn't because I'm pretty sure that will determine ^ to some degree
2/18/2009 9:27:43 AM
In before the "I thought a movie about superheros would have more action" posts.

Just to let you know, Midnight tickets are already on sale at the Raleigh Grande. We are working with Capitol Comics and plan to give away a lot of stuff at the midnight show. Also will be giving away stuff at some of the Friday and Saturday night shows. We will also be giving away a giant "comedian" poster at the midnight. It's something like 5 ft x 3 ft. You might have seen it in the lobby...plus... $1.50 large drinks at the midnight. Gonna need the caffeine, it is pretty long.
2/18/2009 2:20:51 PM
That movie theater carried Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions. I think if Watchmen were an 'event' movie they'd carry it.
2/18/2009 2:21:14 PM
2/25/2009 3:08:29 PM
there's a special on g4 tonight about watchmen and they said they have some new scenes no one's seen before. i'm recording it. starts at 6 i think. channel 191 on dish.
2/25/2009 3:29:13 PM
holy shiti've been saying it "RO SHARK" for yearsman i suck at pronouncing things
2/25/2009 8:52:14 PM
in the commercial i saw tonight during lostit looked like jon was all shocked and aghast when the comedian shot the vietnamese woman am i wrong to think that is not how the book presented it?i could be wrong, its been a while since my last read-thru
2/25/2009 10:42:03 PM
^ I'm re-reading it right now and I just read that part todayI thought the same thing - "I know you're going to do this but honestly, I don't give two shits" and then doesn't say anything when the Comedian calls him out on it
2/25/2009 10:58:14 PM
further reason, if that is the scene in question, to lower the ol' expectations
2/25/2009 10:59:03 PM
^^^^well, considering that it's spelled rorshach, you missed a letter.i had trouble pronouncing it too, but i'd just start the name and let someone else finish it.
2/26/2009 8:23:24 AM
will watch, coming out next weekend right?
2/26/2009 2:00:58 PM
I haven't been keeping up with the hype machine and all the random videos, I've always found that stuff pretty silly.I think it will probably be a fun/maybe good movie if it just tries to be a movie..I don't think it will do the comic justice. and if it tries to do that too hard, I think it might be a shit movie. I don't see how a comic that is SOOO full of flashbacks and such used in a not very screen-translateable-friendly way can be turned into a "faithful" movie.hopefully Zacky Zack will prove me wrong.
2/26/2009 2:11:03 PM
as I'm reading it again, all I can think about is how hard it would be to do all the flashbacks and there's just no way to coherently include the comicI mean, it can still be good but no way it can be 100% faithful to the original
2/27/2009 5:09:39 AM
i didn't have a whole lot of hope for this movie at first, but the more i see the better it looks to me.i mean, i don't think it will be 100% faithful to the novel, but i think it's going to be a really good film.i'm excited!!
2/27/2009 10:47:02 AM
I finished reading the book for the first time last night.I don't see how the movie could possibly end up being anything more than a series of visual nods to the fans. I think it would have been better served as an HBO miniseries or something.
3/5/2009 5:45:28 PM
the AV club gave it a B, which is good enough for me. i'm pretty excited.
3/5/2009 6:25:17 PM
Remember to put up the spoiler tags guys, I dont wont to be let down on the highlights of story I've already read.[Edited on March 5, 2009 at 8:25 PM. Reason : fuck'n popo]
3/5/2009 8:09:03 PM
Plan to see it this weekend. If you really wanna prepare, read the comic and then go read Max Weber's theories on the state and legitimate exercising of power. It's pretty much the explanation Watchmen gives.
3/5/2009 8:09:07 PM
Going to the midnight release tonight.
3/5/2009 8:46:27 PM
just bought a 1 month xbox live card from BB and got 2 free passes for watchmen. hax.
3/5/2009 9:09:51 PM
Back from midnight showing. Who is ready to discuss??
3/6/2009 3:09:23 AM
***Not Necessarily A Spoiler***But be prepared to see a lot a blue cartoon penis
3/6/2009 3:16:40 AM
Also just got back.Thought it was great. Think it's too late and I'm too tired to get in a lengthy discussion.
3/6/2009 3:17:30 AM
Initial thoughts:Jackie Earle Haley rocked everyone's ass.Matthew Goode was unexpectedly excellent.Malin Akerman is fucking hot as balls.More later.
