11/16/2008 9:00:16 PM
mehCasino Royale was better
11/16/2008 10:00:55 PM
Damn this movie stankI spent the first hour paying really close attention to trying to figure out what the fuck was going onThen I realized the move wasn't too smart for me, but too dumb for meso I just sat back and enjoyed it for the mindless action scenes
11/16/2008 10:04:31 PM
unfortunately, i know it's not just all the hype i had for this movie that made me feel "meh"i disliked shaky cam, and the plot was blah. i don't fault Daniel Craig, cause he did a great job with what he was given. so I'll be waiting for the next installationit's worth the watch...i just didn't walk out all "OMG!!!" like i did after CR...
11/16/2008 10:50:36 PM
The people that say it's the best Bond movie ever must be joking.also, the villain was horrible, it seemed like they tried to have him do some random bad things so we would dislike him more, because otherwise we really didn't give a fuck and he really didn't seem that evil.almost as bad as hancock in the villain dept.
11/16/2008 11:40:38 PM
I loved it!! I thought they did a great job adding to the story Casino Royale set up. The character development was great as well. I didn't care for the shaky cam during action sequences, but other than that I really enjoyed it. It had pretty much everything you could want in a Bond movie IMO. Daniel Craig was amazing again as Bond. I have to say that out of all the actors to play Bond he's the only one that comes across as scary and unpredictable. I love that!!!

I was a little bit disappointed by Quantum, with an expectation of matching up with the Casino Royale. The character was not fully developed from the image of a heart-broken revenger who barely recovered from the death of his loved one. Bond's roof-jumping ability was secondary to Bourne, so I really wondered how much Forster can take on an action movie. Kurylenko was hot but also was boring as the Bond girl. Bond made unprofessional killer mistake, which devastated Bond's inside essence. Beside the value of forgiveness, I also learn a good lesson that the omnipotent Amex black card can also be turned off just like any other card. [Edited on November 17, 2008 at 12:28 AM. frankly i didnt enjoy as much that they added on to CR. I like the older bond films being, to an extent, independent stories of each other. Also ther was never really a big unveiling moment of the sinister plot as has been trademark of most bond films .... the whole confusion between oil and water in the film is never really "stated," it's just kind of put out there and left to stew.and yah the bad guy was meh and Olga was -MUCH- hotter in Hitman.but it kept my attention and was entertaining. I'd say ...6-7/10it was good but it could have been better[Edited on November 17, 2008 at 12:28 AM. Reason : sd]

I saw the moviewhat happened?where were gadgets? Why was the signature music and scene at the end? Did he say Bond, James Bond?
11/17/2008 2:07:54 AM
The movie sucked. It was Bond in a Bourne style movie.Fucking posers. No cool gadgets either.
11/17/2008 2:08:51 AM
no cool gadgets? Bond is all about the gadgets........wtf
11/17/2008 2:21:05 AM
^,^^,^^^You all are way off and behind. They are recreating Bond. Q isn't even along yet. He just became a 00 in CR. Now he is learning the ways and who to trust in QofS.
11/17/2008 3:04:50 AM
The fact that he is still "learning" doesn't make up for poor writing.
11/17/2008 3:28:15 AM
Paul Haggis is grossly overrated.
11/17/2008 3:29:14 AM
Casino Royale 1.5 Casino Royale Lite.
11/17/2008 8:19:24 AM
This movie blew. Plain and simple. No gadgets.Shaky cam.Bond girl wasn't that hot.Intro credits / song were AWFUL. Weak sauce villain. Bowl cut, wtf?Mediocre plot. C- at best.
11/17/2008 10:02:44 AM
The girl who was suppose to bring him back in... yea I like how he just had to ask her to help him "find the stationary"... and the next thing you know they were fucking.Jesus that was corny as hell, and pathetic for a Bond movie.
11/17/2008 12:57:58 PM
what cool gadgets in Casino Royale?
11/17/2008 1:22:36 PM
the only gadget I remember from Casino Royale was the glove box defibrillator ..... and that's not much of a gadget
11/17/2008 1:27:02 PM
Not sure if they ever explained the scars on the girls back, but I'm guessing they were from the Fidel Castro wannabe that murdered her family
11/17/2008 1:38:27 PM
didn't he burn down her house after raping and killing her mother and sister? I guess it happened then, which would explain her fear of fire.
11/17/2008 1:43:00 PM
Appearantly a lot of posters in this thread do not realize that this movie is the finale of Casino Royale. If you never saw Casino Royale, or its been a while since you saw the movie, then you had a hard time following it. They never did a good job marketing this fact - basically, the two movies combined is one "feature", not even a "sequel". Quantum starts off EXACTLY where teh last scene from Royale left off in the very last scene.Another fact that you people missed is that Casino Royale and Quantum are Bonds first "assigntment". He isnt even a double-O agent yet, and he is a rookie. When Daniel Craig started, they decided to tell teh story from the begining of his career - this is why they showed his first kill ever in casino and they reference his personal ability to kill multiple times the in the Quantum. He kills a lot of people because he is a rookie.this is also why the gadgets are not as much as the story, and Q is not there, and he does not say Bond, james Bond all the time. He hasnt got his signature drink either - keep that in mind.[Edited on November 17, 2008 at 1:55 PM. Reason : .]
11/17/2008 1:53:04 PM
^ He did get his signature drink.
11/17/2008 2:01:46 PM
Bond had a pretty tricked out car in Casino Royale
11/17/2008 2:09:12 PM
^ if by tricked out you mean had a GPS, then yeah i guess
11/17/2008 2:20:25 PM
He also had a host of sony toys, even though they werent impressive they were far beyond anything in Quantum. The car itself was cooler than any toy in the entire Quantum movie[Edited on November 17, 2008 at 2:34 PM. Reason : .]
11/17/2008 2:32:37 PM
well the gadgets always came up with Q, who hasn't been introduced yet. i'm hoping they will bring him and the gadgets in on the next one. also, this may have been discussed in this thread before, but is Quantum supposed to be the old S.P.E.C.T.R.E.?
11/17/2008 2:36:00 PM
yes
11/17/2008 2:52:20 PM
11/17/2008 3:26:15 PM
i don't really care about the gadgets or drinksi'm still not really sure what happened at the end i need to do some reading - the movie just felt disconnected i would saythe characters in this movie just were not as interesting - i thought vesper was a great character and i enjoyed the catty interactions between her and bondthe dual between bond and the La Scheffe at the poker table was also another great thing about Casino Royalthis movie just failed to deliver the action was pretty good but the story just wasn't there
11/17/2008 3:44:24 PM
I felt the movie climaxed too soon.
11/17/2008 4:02:31 PM
I like more of an all powerful bad guy in my bond moviesI don't need some crazy power like for him to have a bullet in his head that makes him immune to pain, or him to have a ninja hat, or whatever, but he has to be a little more badass than a frenchman with the lock down on your water supplyAlso this moving was missing a badass henchman...Bond movies are known for having a signature henchman that helps the main bad guy
11/17/2008 4:51:07 PM
yeah they need to have a bad guy to blame shit on, not THE EVIL CORPORATIONS
11/17/2008 4:52:42 PM
^^
11/17/2008 5:06:05 PM
11/17/2008 11:13:37 PM
yeah, he gains his double-O status not long into Casino Royale. that is just plain wrong.the more i think about it, the movie isn't as bad as i thought it was. it certainly still has its flaws though. my enjoyment would have benefited greatly had i remembered what happened in the last movie.[Edited on November 17, 2008 at 11:44 PM. 11/18/2008 2:12:11 PM
fucking awesome movie. DID NOT DISAPPOINT.
11/19/2008 11:42:01 PM
really?selling water to the bolivians qualifies a bond villian now?really?
11/20/2008 12:07:49 AM
Better qualification than a dude that has to sit under a rainbow brite mask to complete his gender swap operation and his brother that has diamonds sticking out of his face.I haven't seen this one, but one of the things I liked about the last one was that the events were more grounded in reality than the previous Bonds that I've seen. So yeah, kinda makes sense to use villains that are nothing more than people with lots of money that are out there using it for ill deeds... since there's a shortage of metal teeth zombies that are skilled at throwing Kung Lao hats all over the place.[Edited on November 20, 2008 at 7:23 AM.
