in our last 7 games, what more do you want us to do aside from win all 7 of them?how efficiently to we have to play and how badly do we have to beat each of those 7 opponents before you think carolina will only beat us by 25?you're far from objective...you want perfection...you're even more unrealistic]

my thing is we have beaten good teams, we just play to the level of competition... luckily that competition is about to get a lot better.
1/10/2008 4:13:02 PM
treetwista, i bet you were one of those people that went along with gavin grant and actually thought we had a chance of only losing 4 games this season
1/10/2008 4:13:44 PM
Hey, I'll be honest. I bought into the hype. I thought we were possibly the second best team in the conference behind UNC... Which is part of the reason I've been so frustrated by the porous play for a lot of this season..
1/10/2008 4:14:26 PM
we still could be, conference season hasn't started... sid showed last year he can turn it around quicklyive also been frustrated, just not ready to abandon all hope yet.[Edited on January 10, 2008 at 4:15 PM. Reason : ]

dont you queers understand that playing teams like duke/unc, mainly unc, is like playing in the ACC tourny, the past has nothing to do with this, the regular season has nothing to do with this.they are a different team everytime they play unc.look what happened last year.we beat unc. we still sucked. thats how it goes every year minus the beating unc part.
1/10/2008 4:17:41 PM

we'll have four people wearing red taking up one row, second row second deck, you should be able to spot us
1/10/2008 4:20:35 PM
I'm not frustrated by the win and loss column, it's a damn miracle that we are 11-3 with how we have played. It's how we have played effort wise that makes it hard to have any expectations for this team.Every single game, save stretches of the nova game and most of the davidson game, and a good part of the cinci game we have had the same damn problems.- Costner flat out loafing around the court.- lack of effort on the boards.- long stretches of piss poor/selfish shot selectionLuckily we play to the level our opponent for the most part, so I don't see a ton of blowouts in our future. I do see us losing close games to ACC bottom feeders throughout the year because we don't have the intensity and killer instinct to put them away.Hopefully someone steps up as an emotional leader next year or it is going to be more of the same underachieving.
1/10/2008 4:23:02 PM
quick reminder (overall record, not including conference record since no team has played more than 1-2 conference games so far)UNC 16-0Miami 13-1Duke 12-1Clemson 12-3Wake 11-3NCSU 11-3Virginia 10-3FSU 12-4BC 10-4Maryland 10-6VT 9-6GT 7-7we're tied for 5th out of 12 teams (i even listed wake ahead of us so people couldnt argue about that)now i've never said we would beat UNC this weekend although i think we'll play them close and they'll pull away late...but how can you look at the current conference standings and be ready to give up on the season?

As has been mentioned several times already, the State/UNC game is always a thing of its own, and you can pretty much throw away the records up to this point. By no means is it a lost cause. What you can't throw away is how little we have to work with, though. Degand is out, Horner is out, Fells may or may not play, and Ferguson isn't 100%. That leaves us with seven healthy players. Harris, while he's given us some good effort and good minutes on defense, hasn't shown anything on the offensive side. I don't have a whole heck of a lot of confidence in either of our PG's right now. That leaves the whole game, essentially, on the shoulders of four players. Costner really turned it on in the second half last night, so maybe he's getting back in the offensive groove, but...working against us are the two big strikes that we turn the ball over a lot, and we have trouble scoring from the perimeter. Not a good combination, especially against a fast, opportunistic team like UNC. I don't see us scoring more than 75, and I see UNC getting at *least* 15 points off turnovers, probably more. Can we hold them under 75 when essentially handing them 15 or so? I'm not calling it a blowout, but the math doesn't look good at all.
