We're both 22 and I don't know how this is possible. I have one friend from college that is married only for the benefits he gets from the marines (living off base, etc.) and none of my college friends have kids. the same applies for my high school friends.

Girls' Night Out involves women who are old enough to be your mom.

You think nothing of spending $80 on a great bottle of wine. Or $30 on an amazing Kobe burger.

A great night involves a solid 8 hours of sleep.

You become extremely loyal to certain products (hotels, airlines, foods, etc.). SPG for life, baby.

Am I odd in that I'm 27 and I don't feel at all older than I did five years ago. I'm the youngest person at work, was one of the youngest in my MBA program and am the youngest of most of my friends (at least in Cali). I'm MORE active now at 27 than I was at 22.

I mean I don't go drinking every night anymore, but I really stopped doing that when I was a Junior in college (grades needed to get better)...

^ I still feel the same age, for the most part, at 26 as I did at 21. It's just now I can afford nicer things and I also hang out with people who can afford to go to the places that I like to frequent.

Otherwise, I still look and act like a ten-year-old. I am always, always carded.

^^^ aha tell me about it...
- i haven't stayed in a non-hilton or non-marriott hotel in years now...
- i go out of my way to fly continental and argue with company travel when they try to convince me to go on delta/us air/etc. i will outright refuse to travel at all if my only choice is northwest

my husband thinks i'm a hotel snob (true), but the two above actually make sense financially too... we went to hawaii last year for 2 weeks completely for free (nonstop airfare and all nights in hilton hotels) on travel miles accumulated.

- i only use redkin hair products, only estee lauder face lotions, and only a handful of makeup brands (cargo, estee lauder, lancome, clinique)

LOL @ Queti

It's no secret that I ONLY stay in Starwood hotels when I have the choice. Love affair with Westin, W and The Luxury Collection.

Hair products: Paul Mitchell and Aveda only

Jeans: Lucky usually

Running shoes: Mizunos only

Bookstore: Borders ftw

TV News: NPR and Current TV only

Online News: NPR, Slate and Perez Hilton only

I feel like such a diva in my old age.

^^no, you're not a diva. i look at it like this: i work pretty hard, put in long hours, and travel a lot on business.... i might as well enjoy my free time and do things that make myself happy.

i used to use aveda almost exclusively. i loved their products, especially the shampoo smells. then i moved to an area where they don't have an aveda flagship salon... only rinky dink little un official salons that carry a few products but no aveda color. i don't do well with those places... i tend to go to fairly pricey salon/spas and go often... oh well. i'm just happy i found a nice place that handles redkin products and color. my husband also thinks i'm a spa snob too. oops!

- so i was judging a social studies fair some months ago and came across a project that talked about 9/11. i started talking to the kid and realized that every single thing he knew and understood about the event came from wikipedia. i, like most of your folks, know exactly where you were when you heard the news. it is similar to my dad's generation and the jfk assasination.

- you watch specials on the weather channel

32 this year. i think what really struck me was when i hit 31 and realized i was 13 years older than 18 year olds. and this year i'll be twice the age of kids who drive.

i must still look decent though, i always get carded for cigarettes.

I was in Charleston with my parents this summer, and they kept laughing and pointing like five-year-olds whenever I got carded. I couldn't care less about whether I do or not.

Turning 30, on the other hand, makes me want to crawl under a rock.

yeah, you really only need life insurance if you (A) have dependants, and (B) don't have enough of a nest egg to support them if you check out

or occasionally (C): if you have a whole helluva lot of assets and are using life insurance as a means of passing your wealth down without getting so much of it robbed by the IRS.

^ Right, but why do you need life insurance for your spouse? If you die, he can take care of himself. If he can't afford the mortgage, he can always sell the house. You probably don't need any life insurance at all, much less any more than you already have. If you're determined to do it anyway, at least get term insurance so as to not screw yourself as much or for as long.

nah i know he can take care of himself. and vice versa. but we both made the decision to carry enough life insurance such as if either dies, the mortgage will be paid off, etc. our company benefits package (we both work for the same) has incredible rates, so too good to pass up.
