The Panthers have more than enough cap room to sign him. They shouldn't though.
2/22/2008 8:37:40 PM
stallworth is nothing more than an avg 2nd WR that get a hot streak for 4 games and the rest of the season is no where to be found. I hope carolina wont go for him when better players are currently out there.
2/22/2008 9:09:59 PM
honestlyi mean to be perfectly honest hereif i were julius peppers i would want to be traded....i would not want to play for our shitty ass fan base anymore...its freaking depressing playing for a home crowd that is apathetic at best
2/23/2008 4:20:49 AM
^peppers is usually pretty apathetic most of the time as well.

PANTHERS CLOSE TO SIGNING MOOSE by Michael David Smith A league source tells PFT that the Carolina Panthers are close to an agreement with wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad, who became an unrestricted free agent when the Bears released him last week.According to the source, the deal would pay Muhammad $1.5 million a year. The 34-year-old Muhammad started his career with the Panthers and played nine seasons in Carolina before leaving for Chicago after the 2004 season. He had some solid seasons as a Panther, leading the league with 102 catches in 2000 and leading the league with 1,405 receiving yards and 16 receiving touchdowns in 2004. He never came close to that level of production in Chicago. In Carolina, he's expected to compete with Dwayne Jarrett for the No. 2 receiver spot across the field from Steve Smith. http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm
2/24/2008 2:02:40 PM
1.5 mil is way too much to pay for Moose
2/24/2008 2:16:23 PM
I think 1.5 million is a fair deal. A veteran's minimum for him would be around 1 million anyway.
2/24/2008 2:26:13 PM
I dont mind having moose back, i just wish they would have went a bit younger so we wont be in the same spot again soon.
2/24/2008 3:05:01 PM
Jarrett better pan outStill it will be nice to see old 87 (assuming he buys his number back) catching balls that Jake throws a little too high...he's not the youngest WR but he was still kind of productive in Chicago...he's got good hands which is more than I can say for Carter or Colbert
2/24/2008 3:26:37 PM
^yea, the thing I like the most about moose is that he's a very willing blocker. He'll definitely help out the running game.
2/24/2008 5:33:20 PM
Nice lil pick up if it pans out. 1.5 Mil is a deal for a vet like Moose. Hopefully he stays healthy and shows that same fire he had earlier with Panthers. Would still like to see us get a young receiver to avoid similar situation in 2-3 years (hoping Moose puts up numbers for 2-3 years). Would still love to see a TE that can open the field up...but I know our run game has big concerns. However I do feel a TE that can catch and get open and break tackles can open the run game up. III
2/24/2008 10:37:27 PM
If we get Moose, and resign Carter, the WR situation is set. The team will have 5 WR going into training camp: Smith, Moose, Jarrett, Robinson, Carter.
2/24/2008 11:33:17 PM
What are they doing to the stadium other than the new scoreboards? I was in Charlotte today and driving by on 277 saw a lot of scaffolding up. Some of it was at the ends for the new scoreboards, but there was also a lot on the side going up to about the club level.
2/25/2008 3:00:48 PM
the article about the scoreboards mentions a new room to operate the scoreboards i think
2/25/2008 5:16:17 PM
i got some advertisement from them in the mail a few months back...talking about some vip level shit...crazy expensive for my budget but i think it required some renovations this offseason...that might be some of the construction
2/25/2008 5:18:27 PM
Doesn't really have anything to do with this offseason, but Stephen Davis is going to sign a 1-day contract so he can retire as a Panther.http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernews.aspx?sport=NFLFeb 25th 10:16 pm et
2/26/2008 8:00:20 AM
so, we got a QB yet?
2/26/2008 2:55:22 PM
yeshis name is jake delhomme an up and comer that kid
2/26/2008 3:02:42 PM
The Panthers restructured the deals of CB Ken Lucas and DT Maake Kemoeatu. The re-worked contracts are expected to clear up just over $1 million in cap space.http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernews.aspx?sport=NFLFeb 26 3:01 pm et
2/26/2008 3:41:26 PM
^^also, Bazanez was supposed to be the QB of the future until he got hurtand Moore looked like he might end up being the best QB from last year's class.we're solid @ QB imo. Unless there is a steal available, they shouldn't draft another QB...maybe a bring in a vet for training camp.^that's good, although it likely means Jenkins is gone.[Edited on February 26, 2008 at 3:45 PM. Reason : .]
2/26/2008 3:44:24 PM
remember when we were shopping jenkins last year for a first round pick?lolthat would be nice
2/26/2008 11:15:36 PM
^^ i dont think that bazanez was ever considered to be the QB of the futuremaybe a decent backupbut never the QB of the future
2/26/2008 11:29:47 PM
MOOSE TO SIGN WITHIN 1 DAY!!!!!!!!!!!Stephen Davis to sign 1 day contract and retire a Carolina Panther.i love it.... now the question is....wait, its not a question. GIVE UP #87 Jeff King!!!!!!!
2/27/2008 12:01:35 AM
i think its awesome that davis would want to retire a panther
2/27/2008 12:03:18 AM
i think Alge Crumpler is coming here
2/27/2008 11:14:04 AM
i don'tthat might've seemed like a possibility a couple weeks ago but now that Moose is about to sign, and considering the Panthers were not one of the teams that Crumpler talked to and met with last Friday, I don't see this happening. No way we pay $4 million + for an old TE with injury problemsWe ARE however going to either trade (hopefully) or release (more likely) Kris Jenkins before Friday so we don't have to pay him his $1mil + bonus]
2/27/2008 11:15:41 AM
i'm not complaining
2/27/2008 11:28:50 AM
I don't think they should release Jenkins....trade, maybe but not release....he's too good.
2/27/2008 11:42:42 AM
trade if somebody wants to tradebut if not, releasing him would save us over a million in salary cap bonuses
2/27/2008 11:44:48 AM
^^well i mean yeah that would be ideal.....but lots of times things that are ideal dont happen....wonder who we could get if we traded, or how high a draft pick(i'd guess highest round we'd get would be second, but i dont know shit about trading and drafts cause madden done fucked me up)
2/27/2008 11:46:01 AM
MOOSE signed a 2 yr deal. per ESPN
2/27/2008 2:34:01 PM
BOOM! Motherfuck yeah! You know what his real name is?Melvin Campbell
2/27/2008 2:37:18 PM
Signing Moose is a good move, I like itBut you guys are missing the best fucking move of the year by the Panthershttp://www.charlotte.com/209/story/512409.html
2/27/2008 3:00:21 PM
haha thank god...that was one year of failed experiment right there....carr is not an nfl qb
2/27/2008 3:02:22 PM
^^wow, cleared up $2.8 million in cap space.
2/27/2008 3:10:58 PM
BOOM! Motherfuck yeah!
2/27/2008 3:11:40 PM
haha so they got moose and got rid of car and still freed up 1.3mil under the cap....gg panthers
2/27/2008 3:12:56 PM
i really love the moves they've made to clear cap spaceand the players they've re-signedand moose
2/27/2008 3:16:34 PM
i just hope our starting DT tandem of Maake and Damione Lewis can do okI do expect Peppers to bounce back with a strong year
2/27/2008 3:17:36 PM
2/27/2008 4:00:44 PM
Nice, liking that pick up of Moose. Sounds good. Dropping Carr great move. How is Delhomme doing with rehab? Seems everyone is worrying about the DTs but I am worried about our CB and Safety situation. Now back to this TE thing.... III
2/27/2008 4:05:25 PM
Delhomme still throwing Nerf ballsabout 2 more months til he's whipping a real NFL pigskin around the yardvery gradual recovery apparently from the tommy john surgery...cant remember but they say right now jake either gets about 20 throws a day or about 20 minutes of throwing (with the nerf)he needs to bounce back strong and start all 19 games for us this next season (18 if we're not a wildcard team)
2/27/2008 4:13:43 PM
So we will be picking up a QB in the draft then. But yeah, we need Jake to come back strong and start and finish every game this season. Giving him targets to throw to will help him make quick good decisions. III
2/27/2008 4:24:17 PM
Wooooooooo! I can't wait for the "Mooooooose" chants to rain down at Bank of American Stadium again! And white gloves is let go on the same day?! Now if we could get Colbert and Carter out I'd be beyond thrilled. I think their contracts are up Friday so I'm holding out hope.
